Where did Kelsier get his new body?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Nightblade's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think Cognitive Shadows can occupy the bodies of insane people, or people that allow them in. I'll post more later when I'm not at work. -
Terminator Kandra.

Something I noticed on my OB reread?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
The only other one of his works that match it in terms of length and number of POV characters that I’ve read is his conclusion of the Wheel of Time series. It was and indeed a full on avalanche and I can only imagine what it will be like for a series that was his from conception to completion.- 14 replies

I think it’s hard for him write in her POV right now because it would have to many spoilers. Jasnah has a lot of insight and knowledge that is plot critical and not common to the other characters. I think as we get further into the story we will get a lot more of her POV and hopefully get to know her better.- 14 replies

Burning Hemalurgically Charged Metal
SwordNimiForPresident replied to The Grumpy Elantrian's topic in Mistborn
@RShara That sounds like being spiked without the spike. Could be beneficial if it doesn't turn you into some kind of Lovecraftian abomination. -
If you could give them anything...

Good point.

@RShara@Calderis So much for that idea. Is it possible that he sucked in the Stormlight that made up the Illusion? I don't think we've seen anyone take back Stormlight from an Illusion that wasn't theirs, so I have my doubts.

I'm curious about how the design of Shardplate is decided upon. I think the most common theory currently for the source of Shardplate is that 4th Ideal Radiants create it using the "secondary" non sentient Spren of their order. So do the Spren decide how the plate looks? Or is it up to the Radiant? It seems like the shape of the Blade comes down to the Radiant's choice, so I am inclined to think that the plate follows the same rules. Would the plate be malleable to the Radiaint's will like blades are then? I'm mostly interested in this because I was looking at the Shardplate drawings from WoR and realized that they had scale on some parts of the armor. This got me thinking about more modern forms of armor and whether a Radiant with knowledge of those things could make use of them. I was imagining a body suit that is more form fitting that plate (allowing for more dexterity/mobility) and is made of a "ballistic fiber" version of Shardplate (think kevlar made out of Investiture). Cover that with a layer of small hexagonal "coins" placed very closely together that form the actual plate part of the armor. The helmet would probably be best if it remained a solid piece above the neck with no visor. It would make for a much "sleeker" Radiant IMO and allow them to be more mobile.

I assumed that he sucked some light out of the gemstone without meaning to.

What's your personal Skybreaker fourth ideal?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Zallek Windblade's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Way to political to post in a public forum. -
Might want to make that aluminum foil

Yes. The best example is Oathbringer Spoils

It would be cool if this didn't turn into another "I have secret info about Dalinar's fututre" thread.

If you leave him out in the sun until he gets drunk you might be able to use him safely.

It could certainly be interpreted to mean that the Sibling was causing those things, but it doesn't explicitly say it. Navani does point out to Dalinar that there are veins of emerald and ruby running through the walls of the city. The ruby could easily be a heat fabrial, and I assume the emerald is related to the plants. The lifts also still operate, so something must be behind that as well. Narrative, the pressure had to persist, without it everyone in the city would die of hypoxia in a few days.

Ruin is decay or entropy, chaos is unordered change. I was positing those as possible Shards, not as ones that we've seen.

I actually hope that he doesn't ascend. I think it would be more interesting if his Bondsmith powers let him manipulate Honor's power without him actually taking up the Shard. Mistborn spoilers

Who is Kaladin protecting when he's fighting Jasnah? Near as I can tell, Kaladin's Stormlight runs out instantly every time he tries to fight someone for reasons other than protecting. Also, who's to say Jasnah couldn't send Kal into the Cognitive realm and leave him there? He would either drown in the beads after his Stormlight ran out, or he would starve to death/dehydrate.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was at least one more antagonist hiding among the last six. Maybe a Chaos or Madness Shard.

Its something that happens in large buildings or chimneys. The difference in pressure outside and inside can cause pressure and air flow. If you've ever been in a big building and had a door stick because of air flow, that's whats causing it.
-
They might have made clever use of the stack effect to keep the pressure normal in Urithiru. I'm not an engineer so I don't know how feasible that is.

The southern Scadrians call the people that fill their brass medallions Firemothers and Firefather. I personally take this literally and assume that they stand in a fire to quickly fill medallions.

The change in water level could certainly be natural, I just felt that in combination with the unusual warmth and the Invested fish, that the Purelake seemed a little similar to the Stormfather. It would also fix one of the major problems that they face in Urithiru, no water. Also, to be clear I am in no way putting this forward as a "this is definitely what's happening" idea. I'm just floating it to see what other people think (and if anyone else can make connections that I missed).

It doesn't seem to have any issues moving given that it "hides" from the Highstorms. I imagine it could move through the water table or through underground passages. As for native life, the Stormfather doesn't hold back his storms when innocents are in their path, and the Nightwatcher can be downright cruel, so I imagine the Sibling would take a similar "force of nature" perspective on the matter. The region may also flood with non Invested water once the Sibling left (assuming that the lake is the Sibling).
