The magic dagger and Jasnah's plans
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Oltux72's topic in Stormlight Archive
My guess is a new oathpact. Alternatively, turning the greater part of the Parsh population against Odium. -
I've always seen the whole "Kel would be a villain" thing through the lens of comic book characters. To most heroes, the Punisher or the Huntress would be villains. They flat out murder people. Their goals are altruistic, but their methods are brutal.

If Harmony wanted Kelsier out of the way he could just take direct control of him. He is a Fullborn through Hemalurgy, which means he has a minimum of 16 spikes. As far as Marsh's sanity, he seems to be quite stable in his interaction with Marasi at the end of Alloy of Law.

A Dragon. A Fullborn Hemalurgic Dragon. A Fullborn Hemalurgic Dragon of the 10th Heightening bonded to the Stormfather. Am I there yet? -
[OB] Cracked Theory: Wit in the Epilogue
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Xaklys's topic in Stormlight Archive
I support this. -
I've always assumed that we are misunderstanding Brandon when it comes to healing from Hemalurgy. It would be story breaking if you could just circle spike someone and make unlimited metalborn. It wouldn't really make sense anyway. Healing in the Cosmere depends on having your Spiritual Ideal self as a template for the regrowth. If you tear part of that off, what are you using as a template to grow it back?
-
That’s the point of the F-gold medallion. Keep them alive through the process of spiking them. Then reinsert the piece of soul you took so that they can remain whole until they die. People die from getting spiked because generally they’re getting stabbed through the heart. Not a big deal for a bloodmaker.
-
Spike them while they tap a gold medallion. Then reinsert the spike and let them keep it until their natural death. This would let them survive the spiking and let them keep their spirit intact.

Question about the "Pool"
SwordNimiForPresident replied to scudalarm's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I know they’re Elantrians. My thought was that they were Elantrians that had become Cognitive shadows. -
Question about the "Pool"
SwordNimiForPresident replied to scudalarm's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I wonder if the Ire are all Cognitive shadows. As far as I know, we haven’t seen any of them outside of the CR. -
Cosmere Super Bowl!

One Elantrian. Aon Edo before every play on defense. Aon Tia into the end zone before every offensive play. Only works if he’s the home team. -
Methods of initiation and - Vax?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That WoB rules out metallic arts, but what about Hemalurgy’s other effects? Are they inheritable? -
If we are talking about a political marriage then Kaladin would be a poor choice. Alethkar wouldn't gain any lands or alliances from it. They would be much better served by a marriage to one of the eastern nations, or a marriage off world. Personally I'm holding out hope that, somewhere down the line, our pragmatist Queen finds a certain high functioning sociopathic prophet with a proclivity for living through things and kicks off a romance. That would bring a rusting strong alliance. That being said I don't think its likely to happen in the Stormlight books. I imagine that crossovers will be small things like Vasher and Vivenna.

I'm on my 4th trip through OB now and I'm trying to keep my eye out for odd stuff. A part of chapter 38 got my brain juices bubbling. It's the scene at the end where the Stormfather has finished explaining to Dalinar and Navani about the Heralds betrayal. A Shin soldier walks into the cave where the Heralds left their blades. "The man fell to his knees before the wonder of the abandoned Honor-blades. But a moment later, the man looked to Dalinar, and then spoke with the Almighty's voice. "Unite them". Could Tanavast have been telling Dalinar to literally unite the Honor-blades? By this I mean, use his Bondsmith weirdness to merge them into one blade that grants all of the Surges and all of the intersections that would result from having them.

What's the (supernatural) deal with Balat?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to Quantus's question in Cosmere Q&A
This makes me think that it might be following Moash around. There's a few lines in chapter 54. At first I assumed it was Odium himself doing it, but your theory has me thinking that it might be Dai-Gonarthis. I wonder if Odium uses it to groom potential servants. Take their pain and fill the void it leaves with anger and death. -
Marasi and the Bands of Mourning
SwordNimiForPresident replied to jtburrup's question in Cosmere Q&A
Ah my mistake, I thought you meant that they all use Duralumin as one of the metals in every medallion. The nicrosil is what let’s them access preservations power, it is literally storing the ability to use the metallic arts. I would imagine all Scadrians have some degree of Connection to Preservation, given the origin of their world.- 12 replies

How many atium shadows does a steelrunner have?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to beantheboy12's topic in Mistborn
The future is always set in stone, in any Universe. If someone gains access to Fortune and "changes" something, they were always going to gain access to fortune and make that "change". Cause and effect. They gained access to Fortune because of everything that preceded their gaining Fortune. You can follow this chain of effects back to the root cause. This is more of a philosophical/religious argument though so I'll let it die.- 43 replies

Marasi and the Bands of Mourning
SwordNimiForPresident replied to jtburrup's question in Cosmere Q&A
Only the Connection medalions use Connection. They all use Investiture though (as in Feruchemical Investiture). They're really not that complicated TBH. Unkeyed F-Nicrosil to grant the appropriate Investiture (A-Steel, F-Gold.. and so on) and then any other type of F-metal to use as a storage. The coin that Wax uses at then end of BoM for example is F-Nicrosil with the ability to use F-Copper stored in it and F-Copper with a fully immersive PoV memory stored in it. Both are unkeyed so anyone can use it.- 12 replies

How many atium shadows does a steelrunner have?
SwordNimiForPresident replied to beantheboy12's topic in Mistborn
How fast a steel runner is moving should have no bearing on their Atium shadows. The shadows show up a predetermined amount of time before the actual movement and would therefore predict any changes the steelrunner made. IMO the scene with Vin and Zane is a plot hole. If she's waiting to see his attack, then it has already been predetermined that she will react to that attack in a certain way. Atium isn't reading someone's mind to see what they will do, it is predicting the future.- 43 replies
