  1. I think the blade on a lightsaber is supposed to be plasma (which is just really hot stuff), so I’m going with Shards>sabers.
  2. I was thinking of the end of OB since they were all there. I’m still in the middle of my most recent reread, but I don’t remember any of them feeling it despite all of them being in the fight.
  3. Isn’t Moelach the death rattle Unmade? Nergaoul causes the Thrill. I don’t think any of the Radiants feel it throughout the books other than Dalinar. He likely only still feels it because he’s so strongly Connected to it.
  4. @Weltall good point, I wasn't looking at it from the perspective of making your own essence marks. I imagine that Feruchemical Aluminum and Duralumin would come in handy as well.
  5. Allomantic gold lets you see your own past. Compounding gold is for healing. You might gain some benefit from Allomantic Malatium. It allows you to see other people’s pasts. Even still I think the insight would be pretty small compared to something like a personal memoir.
  6. I wouldn’t be surprised if stamps don’t work as well on Invested people. Given how Invested Hoid is, I can’t imagine them working at all.
  7. They pierced the skin on his arms like an earring, a hard tug would have pulled them out. Arrogant, when applied to someone that was killed because of it, is synonymous with stupid. If he had placed them inside his body like Miles then he would probably still be alive. By saying that they would need access to the Dor, I was implying that they would be at full strength (as if they were in the city of Elantris). This is the same qualifier that you would apply to any question about an Elantrian's strength since they are basically just people when they're away from the city. They could just have the Aons running before the fight even started. Make an Aon Edo that locks everything around yourself in place and an Aon Daa that vaporizes anything that isn't you within a 100 meter radius. As for lacking the firepower to kill him, he doesn't have an unlimited supply of gold, so at some point he would die (that's assuming F-gold can even resist Aon Daa which vaporized a Dakhor monk). Additionally, you seem to be offended by my opinion of Rashek, so I will stop replying in this thread.
  8. It’s meant to be hypothetical. Although now that I think about it “Unite them” could have a whole new meaning in my head cannon. Sry for double post, not sure how to fix it.
  9. Raskek got owned because of his vanity. If he had kept his metalminds inside his body rather than loosely dangling off his arms then Vin would have just thrown him around instead of killing him. Basically he’s an idiot. An Elantrian could start the fight with a bunch of already written Aons that just need to be activated. We don’t know a ton about the limits of their magic, but given its programmatic nature it’s safe to say that they could do almost anything with the right Aon. Even just drawing on what we know, Aon Edo to block their opponent then Aon Daa to vaporize them. Both could be inscribed on something before hand and be activated immediately. IMO Elantrians with the Dor are one step bellow a Shard. Someone with Plate, all 10 surge and unlimited Stormlight would be dangerous. They would have gold compounder levels of self healing so killing them without a weapon that attacks on the Spiritual level would be nearly impossible. I think a Fullborn would run out of metal to compound before Dalinar ran out of Sormlight. There’s several ways he could kill one as well. Soulcast them. They could probably resist this with F-Gold or F-Aluminum, but it would deplete their metalminds at some point. If they touch Dalinar (I’m assuming he wouldn’t be able to touch them since they have F-Steel) he could burn them with Division which would hit their goldminds. He could allow them to grapple him and then summon one of his blades in the middle of their head or chest. I’m not sure if gold could fix that or not since it seems to kill instantly. He might also be able to soulcast their metalminds.
  10. If they can access the Dor, Elantrians. Otherwise, Kelsier or any other Fullborn. I'd give Kel an edge over other Fullborn because he's older than any of the others excluding Rashek, and Rashek got owned by a Mistborn. If the Honor Blades are in play then Dalinar MIGHT be able to hang in there. He would need to have Radiant Plate, and he would need to have bonded all 10 blades. Assuming all that is true he could form a perpendicularity and go ham with all of the Surges.
  11. if Vin is powered by the Mists she has all 16 metals. I don't think Kal could even take on an Inquisitor TBH.
  12. A magnet. “Rotate”. place inside copper coil for perpetual energy generator.
  13. "Grant me power" While visualizing a sword that steals powers like a Lerasium Hemalurgic spike and grants them to the wielder. Then I go stab Yelig-Nar.
  14. I was really hoping that this was a theory about Lirin being an Autobot. Sad face.
  15. Honestly makes me wonder why I waste my time posting
  16. Relevant WoB. Christmas is cancelled. To many things floating around out there that aren't in his books. Makes it hard to come up with a relevant theory. This makes basically everything I said wrong for what its worth.
  17. That would explain why you can't leave Sel and access the Dor. It wouldn't explain why only people from Arelon and Teo become Elantrian, or why all of the symbol based systems of magic are based on the geography of the region they're from.
  18. Thanks for the catch on the order. Must have gotten them turned around. Theory still holds IMO. Not seeing anything in that WoB about the Cognitive. It also doesn't say that Dominion isn't about nation/ruler (it doesn't say anything about what it's intent is). Unless someone can point me at a WoB that directly negates me, my opinion remains unchanged.
  19. I like the idea of the Shards each having a complementary Shard. I do think your pairing is a bit off though. Preservation and Ruin being opposites is cannon so no need to delve deeper there. Devotion and Odium seem like the next logical set. Their names are literally Love and Hate so I don't think there is much more to say. I will add that there is a WoB out there (I couldn't find it) that says Odium tried to hunt down Aona and Skai first but failed and so went after Ambition next. Ambition is an obvious choice in terms of kill order as it seems like the Shard most likely to try something like powering up by absorbing other Shards, but why Devotion first? In my opinion he made the choice because, as his opposite, Devotion posed the biggest threat to him personally. Honor and Ambition. This is where it gets a little fuzzy. I think these two are paired (not opposites) because they represent two sides of the same idea, Serving. Honor is about serving something external. Adhering to a code or swearing an oath, that sort of thing. Ambition is about self service and achieving your own ends. Neither is pure good or evil. You can swear an oath do do something stupid or evil, and your ambitions can further a good cause. It's a bit loose but it's my opinion on the matter. Dominion and Autonomy. I don't personally buy into the idea that Dominion is about domination, I think it is more about rulership and domain. The best pieces of evidence I have for this are the location reliance of Sel's magic systems and Raoden. Raoden is more Connected to the Dor than any of the other Elantrians. I think this is because he embodies the Shards better than any of the others. He is a man who took rulership (Dominion) over his people because he loved (Devotion) them. I would consider Dominion to be the Shard of kings, be they cruel tyrants or benevolent stewards. Autonomy, as the name implies, is about self reliance and independence. I would call it the shard of rebels. These could be heroes or they could be terrorists (I think of Kelsier when I think of this Shard). These two things aren't opposites, but they are two sides of a spectrum. I don't think we have met Cultivation's complement yet. I've tried to think about what that would look like and this is my line of thinking. Cultivation is about change. The opposite of that would be no change, but that's preservation. So I tried to think about what it means to cultivate something. Lets say you find some flowers growing in your lawn and decide to cultivate them. This would mean cleaning out weeds, adding fertilizer, watering, maybe putting up a fence to keep animals out or building a path or boxes around them. So cultivation isn't just change, it's change with a purpose or direction. The counter to that while still staying in the theme of change would be undirected or disordered change. This leads me to think that Cultivation's complement would be something like Chaos. Now chaos has a very evil sound to it (flash to the Joker's monologue to Harvey Dent in the Dark Knight), but it's not that kind of chaos. It's more like the randomness of nature. A butterfly flaps its wings and there's a hurricane. You guys get the picture. Long story short, Cultivation and Chaos. I don't think we have met Endowment's complement either. Given the nature of the only magic system we have seen from Endowment, I would say that it is all about the bestowal of power onto others. The other side of the spectrum from that would be taking power from others. I imagine something that leeches power from others in a sort of vampiric way. The best name that I could come up with for this Shard is Assimilation (inb4 Borg Shard). I have a personal theory that you could set all of the Shards on a wheel with their complements on the opposite side and put them in order. It would be in a sort of dark to light setup with Preservation at the north pole and Ruin at the south. You could then place Shards to either side of them (I would put Odium and Ambition on either side or Ruin) and then work your way towards the equator with gradually more neutral Shards. Other hypothetical Shards that I think could exist: Logic and Madness. I think these two would sit next to Cultivation and Chaos on my proposed Shard Wheel.
  20. Can't you block Nightblood with a Shardblade? This is literally the physical manifestation of a Spren so I'm going with no, he can't destroy Spren.
  21. Just skip the armor and inscribe the Aons on your skin. Also, much earlier in the post there was a discussion about bonding Seons like Spren. Isn't that already what happens?
  22. Voted Dalinar but could easily justify a Raoden vote as well. Kelsier has accomplished more than either, but hes not really a leader. He's a religious icon and a tremendous inspiration to the people of Scadrial, but he doesn't lead them. He did rule longer than anyone on the list, and with more absolutism. You could easily attribute all of the terrible things that happened under his rule to the fact that the planet was nearly uninhabitable. Who knows, maybe Rashek was planning to fix Scadrial and bring about utopia with his next bath in the Well. He did have 1000 years to plan.
  23. Kal definitely needs to find his happy place. He already has the lost boys. Now I just need to figure out what Amaram's crocodile is.
  24. He didn’t bug me as much on the first read through. Maybe I thought there was a light at end of the tunnel? The other characters carry me through it too. I’ve enjoyed Dalinar’s PoV from the start. Kaladin even has good scenes, his balance is just the lowest one of the bunch for me.
  25. I get it. Kal is your favorite. He’s my least favorite. There’s nothing you can say to make me change my mind, only Brandon can do that.
