  1. I am utterly shocked. This feels like a major watershed moment for the publishing industry. Does Dragonsteel have ambitions to become an independent publishing house? Are we going to start seeing Dragonsteel sign other authors writing in the fantasy and sci-if genres and start publishing their works? Even after all of their expenses are subtracted and taxes are paid, this is a STAGGERING amount of money for an author to get for four books that aren’t even done yet! Brandon, the mad lad….!
  2. I will be interested to see how much of an effect this crossover will have on Mistborn book sales. Brandon and Peter are usually open to sharing numbers on book sales after a significant event, and they may share numbers once this crossover has come all the way out and had a chance to percolate.
  3. “YOU CANNOT HAVE MY SACRIFICE!” This was a tremendous moment for me, because it shows just now human the Radiant spren can really be, and how much of herself Maya has regained.
  4. I’ve also theorized along these lines.
  5. Has anyone come up with a theory for how the seon was removed from Sel and brought to Roshar? I was quite surprised when the seon was found inside the box and since it’s been a long time since I last read Elantris I didn’t realize what could have been in Mraize’s box.
  6. Here's my guess at Kaladin's Fifth Ideal: "I will accept that others can protect themselves."
  7. There have been some WoBs to suggest that neither Shallan's sexual orientation, nor Adolin's, is as inflexible as it may be perceived in the text. But I also feel that this theory is a bit of a stretch.
  8. I posted a prototype version of this theory elsewhere on the spoiler boards but I wanted to break it out separately: Spoilers for Bands of Mourning:
  9. I posted a theory about Ba-Ado-Mishram in the lore board: My theory agrees in part with ShalladinForever but I have some thoughts about what happened Realmatically.
  10. One of the big lore bombs from Rhythm of War came in the epigraphs in Part Four: We all assumed that Ba-Ado-Mishram was only collected to the singers and to the Voidspren that remained behind during the False Desolation. With all of the revelations about just how much of Odium’s Investiture has permeated Roshar and become part of the Cognitive and Spiritual aspects of that star system, I wonder just how significant the imprisonment of Ba-Ado-Mishram really is.
  11. I feel that this was deliberate. I believe that we are expected to perceive him this way. Brandon has shown way too much growth in his writing ability to do something this obvious without reason. I would be very curious about Brandon’s answer to someone asking a question about how Vyre was written. With that said, STORM THAT EVIL, EVIL THING!
  12. We now have the beginnings of an answer:
  13. Hoid did call Odium “the most frightening and terrible of all the Shards.” Is this why? Is the Odium Shard capable of this because it represents all of Adonalsium’s emotions?
  14. It’s definitely Kelsier, and Mraize’s obsession in getting Rosharan Investiture off of that planet and to other planets suddenly makes even more sense. Imagine what Kelsier could do with a renewable supply of distilled Investiture and the knowledge of mechanical Allomancy and Feruchemy!
  15. I was thoroughly shocked when Shallan’s Fourth Truth was revealed, and I too wonder if she will revive her old Cryptic using her Innate Investiture, as Adolin has done with Maya.
  16. I agree with the others - Todd (what a hilarious name for an infinite emotion) either rewrote Hoid’s short-term memory to cover up his blunder in revealing himself as the new Vessel, or destroyed a portion of Hoid’s long-term memory by corrupting/eliminating some of his Breaths.
  17. At first I thought Lift had been altered by Cultivation to provide Lifelight to heal the Sibling. Now I suspect that Lift was altered to serve as a means of generating Lifelight anywhere on Roshar. What will Lift eventually become?
  18. I was utterly shocked. I never never never NEVER expected Taravangian to take up the Odium Shard. I have a very bad feeling that we will see just how terrifying the unrestrained emotion of a capital-G God can truly be.
  19. WELL! I guess we’ll get to see dual wielded Shardblades from someone other than Nale. How exciting!
  20. Here’s my take on Navani’s Second Ideal: ”I will unite instead of divide. I will bring ideas together.”
  21. So far Brandon has generally avoided answering deep lore questions on his YouTube AMAs. If he and Tor decide not to go on tour due to the pandemic, I wonder if he will host some spoiler-laden AMAs for Rhythm of War, spread out over various time zones, and allow the fan base to bombard him.
  22. There may be a shard called Caution or Uncertainty. Alternatively, there could be a shard called Ego or Arrogance. Any of these would make sense for a theoretically omnipotent being that was able to be killed.
  23. I agree with many of your points. We'll have to wait and see if Brandon chooses to proceed with this change, or if he decides that it's too disruptive and too difficult to reconcile into a coherent narrative that can be filmed or shot and make sense to a non-book Cosmere fan. We have a few WoBs which imply that Harmony expended some of his Ruinous Investiture to make the changes to the koloss, and it's plausible that he could do it again to make changes to the kandra, for example. Brandon has been very vague about exactly how Harmony balances his two Shards.
  24. I think this is Autonomy's eventual goal, the ultimate interpretation of their Intent: divide and diffuse their Investiture, and the Investiture of the Shards, widely throughout the Cosmere, and give everyone the same level of power and control and influence over the Realms and over themselves.
  25. I agree with the prior comments about the changes to atium use. It would be a massive change to the entire setting and to the magic system, and would have significant implications for how the non-book Cosmere fandom would have the magic system revealed to them using Sanderson's Laws. I will be very interested to see how Brandon and the rest of the show's writing staff implement these changes to the setting. That being said, Brandon may choose to follow the lead of the films and TV series and have Harmony alter Allomancy at the end of Era 2, to provide a means for Scadrians to expend the investiture of the Ruin shard and make it easier for Harmony to control and for him to act. If he can figure out how to make it work in the films and TV series' version of the Cosmere, he could always backport it to the books and explain it as a deliberate choice by Harmony to give himself more freedom of action to contest the mysterious Shard that is assailing the Scadrian system.
