  1. I think the Nahel bond is deeper and more complex than Ishar allowed it to be, and that there are actually ten Oaths that a a Radiant can swear to bond their spren. The numerology of Honor on Roshar makes me think that there are things about Nahel bonds that were suppressed because of the higher powers they granted, and that this suppression was effected by making everyone think that there are only five Oaths. With Honor shattered now I think we will see the original Nahel bonds return, and see just how powerful a Radiant can become.
  2. I still believe that Rysn will bond the Sibling. It seems like an obvious place for her character to progress, and it would be a new type of character archetype for Brandon to explore.
  3. I have another crackpot theory: Could Bavadin be a Dysian Aimian, or a member of a similar species that distributes its consciousness across multiple organisms? I keep pondering all the WoBs on how weird Bavadin is, and all the on-screen weirdness of the Dysian Aimians, and I keep making this connection between these things. It seems obvious to me...
  4. I have a crackpot theory: Rysn will become the Urithiru Bondsmith, by bonding the Sibling and persuading it to return to Urithiru. Who better to understand the plight of a being trapped inside a physical object that is dependent on others?
  5. During the Salt Lake Comic-Con, Brandon told a forum member that all audio transcriptions have to be checked by Peter so that (a) Brandon’s personal wiki can be updated, (b) things that should not be canonized can be removed so that they are not public, and (c) things that are ambiguous and would cause problems for Brandon later can be clarified and/or reworded.
  6. I wonder if the words “UNITE THEM” are coming from a nascent mind forming from the coalescing of the gloryspren. I’m still leaning towards theory 2 though, and I wonder if any other Bondsmiths that appear on Roshar will be equally capable of this feat or if this is specific to Dalinar.
  7. I watch shows like Ghost Adventures and all I can think about is Realmatic Theory, Connection, Cognitive Shadows and the thinning of the barriers between the Physical and Cognitive Realms.
  8. I was browsing the Stormlight Archive Subreddit and found a very good theory that I want to provide a signal boost for. Link to the theory: The theory posits that the other spren that various characters have seen walking through the highstorms is the Sibling. It suggests that the Stormfather is keeping the Sibling close by within the highstorm to protect it from humans and Odium alike. I think this theory makes a lot of sense, and I’d like to add my own idea to the theory: the Sibling may be sleepwalking in the same manner as Maya, and is following the Stormfather around because of the bond they have with him, much in the same way that Maya followed Adolin around in Shadesmar.
  9. After seeing the Oathgate spren in action, I wonder if the Urithiru Oathgate(s) have their own spren or if they are instead associated with the Sibling. Someone should ask Brandon if the Urithiru Oathgate(s) have their own spren or not.
  10. Right now I’m leaning towards theory number 2. In particular, I think it’s very significant that the spren which flew towards Dalinar as the Perpendicularity formed were gloryspren. I would like to ask Brandon if gloryspren existed on Roshar before Honor was shattered.
  11. There is a gas giant in the Threnodite system named Purity. I just checked the map in Arcanum Unbounded and verified where it was located in the system; it’s close enough to Threnody that it should be visible from that planet.
  12. Purity is the name of a planet in the Threnodite system.
  13. We now know why Brandon gave a WoB that said that Nale was using his original Honorblade, but that there was a “quirk”. But how did Nale gain the ability to form a Nahel bond with a highspren? My guess is that the spiritual damage caused by the abandonment of the Oathpact, combined with the madness of torture over the Desolations, caused the breakage needed for a highspren to be capable of bonding Nale. It raises the question of whether or not the other remaining Heralds could also bind spren of their own Order. It also makes me wonder if they will all be able to dual wield or if some of them will refuse to take back their Honorblade.
  14. I agree wholeheartedly with this theory, and we have a strong example of how this could work when we saw the Oathgate spren in the Cognitive Realm. I suspect that the first visit to Urithiru in Shadesmar will make it obvious where the spren is (or was).
  15. We now have confirmation that the Oathpact was intended to seal away both Odium and the Parshendi Voidbringers, and that the Heralds traveled in mind and spirit to and from Roshar at the start and end of a Desolation. We have confirmation that the Nightwatcher is a spren of Cultivation. We now know that Taln is in fact a Herald and that his Honorblade is missing in action. We now know that Nale has bonded a Highspren and is dual wielding Shardblades, which answers at least one question from a long while ago about whether or not the Heralds could even bond a spren.
  16. I can picture the anticipation spren swirling around me in thick clouds, betraying my wait for iTunes to release the book for download...
  17. This is a very good theory, and I think this is very plausible. But for story reasons I think we’ll be shown a method of reviving dead sprenblades using Rosharan magic only.
  18. I’ve been contemplating what the Dysian Aimian said to the Soulcasting savant in that dark place in one of the interludes:
  19. I suspect that Vasher and Hoid will interact with one another in this novel, and discuss something that happened during Warbreaker. My guess is that Szeth will experience Nightblood unleashed, and Hoid will reveal something about Nightblood’s nature that gives us a big clue about what he really is.
  20. Here’s my SWAG: It’s a Magic The Gathering novella, written for the same reasons that Brandon wrote the Infinity Blade novellas.
  21. Yes, I believe that's his purpose. But I think he will learn that he can't compel unity by force and can only do it via persuasion. His interactions with Kadash and the ardentia look like the beginnings of this ideal.
  22. I think the fourth oath of the Windrunners is "I will lead only when others cannot." I think Kaladin will learn this lesson from both the freeparsh and from Elhokar in this book. I think Shallan's third truth will be something to do with an acknowledgement of her mother's fear and hatred of Surgebinding. I think she needs to embrace the reality of her mother's emotions and actions. I think Dalinar's third oath will be "I will unite only those who wish to be united." I think his character will experience growth in this book as he realizes that he can't unify everyone and can't compel them to be united unless they want to be. If the Bondsmith oaths are tailored to each superspren and Mr. T really is going to become one, it will be interesting to see if he gets stuck on this oath while Dalinar doesn't.
  23. Do any fellow Sharders believe that Brandon would be a good guest on the Nerdist Podcast? Brandon has been interviewed for several other podcasts and hosts one himself, so he is familiar with the concept, and I've always felt that the Nerdist Podcast is less about the interview and more of a conversation about whatever the guest wants to talk about. I've really enjoyed listening to Brandon on the podcasts I've found so far, so I'm curious to know if anyone else has too and if they'd like to listen to Brandon on the Nerdist Podcast.
  24. I would also like an interlude with Zahel/Vasher, especially if it includes clues about how he was separated from Nightblood.
  25. Here's a goofy thought. is it plausible that The Poem of Ista was written by a Dysian Aimian, and that the snippet of the poem describes a cremling crawling up a human-sized staircase with one of the black spheres Gavila has in its grasp?
