  1. Full name: Tyltriina Amberscade Investiture: Has a boon/bane from the nightwatcher that is... interesting. Nationality of the cosmere: Rosharan Height: 5’2” Age: 15 Hair color: Brown Eye color: Lavender with ragged, small starburst shaped pupils. Heroic history: Street urchin turned scholar that went to the nightwatcher to cure her blindness and got something she never expected in return. First time world hopper, wasn’t previously a world hopper, but was already cosmere aware. Personality: Talks a fair amount, surly, snaps at those who mention her eyes. Often seems disconnected and stares off into the distance. Intelligent, and self sufficient. What brought your character here? Research lead her to believe that not all is as it seems, and the group at the Tower could be a solution. She wants to help, but fears she cannot.
  2. I have one problem- you use the name Montague, from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. If that was intentional, carry on, but if not, I’d reconsider that name. I don’t think I would be a good co author for you, because I tend to try to do all the work when working in group projects and the like. It’s a good story seed, and you might want to check out the Writing Excuses podcast for good advice.
  3. I’ve read SotD as well. Also, @Ashspren I feel like our usernames go together well. Don’t judge me over it, but I personally enjoyed Shadows of Self more than Bands of Mourning. Not trying to enforce my viewpoint on anybody, but that’s just me. Good choice with the cookies and your Breath, the Dark Alley can be a dangerous place.
  4. Quantum mechanics does have some bearing on the cosmere. This is seen in the interlude with the ardents who measure the flamespren. When one value is defined, it is locked. This reflects Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, a fundamental principle of quantum mechanics. Whether or not investiture messes with quantum mechanics too much for those principles to apply is unknown, but it is probably safe to assume the basis is true, as we have WoB that physics still applies, only with some additions in the cosmere. Relevant WoB There was another one, but I can’t find it.
  5. When you finally convince your mom to read Mistborn and she randomly sends you a text saying: “Kelsier gave Spook pewter?????!?????” Also whenever someone says the word Honor, getting a compulsion to say “Honor is dead.”
  6. Welcome, @Brassweaver19! Which Sanderson book is your favorite?
  7. A man burst into the room, looking around frantically. "No. No. It can't be true. No." He glanced over at the crime scene and saw Archer's body, dead on the ground. "ARCHER!" he screamed. The man tried to push his way towards the body, but hands grabbed his shirt, held him back. He tapped steel, darting through the hands of men and women, sliding across the floor, grabbing Archer's body and dragging him away. Across the threshold of the building. Over the cobbles, the man's head jerking up and down with every bump. Tears slid down his cheeks, and he turned on to a side street, stopped tapping steel, and trudged away, an Aviar swooping to meet him that would shield him from anyone trying to find him using bronze. None of it really mattered now. What could anybody do with a dead body anyway? Archer was dead. Dead.
  8. @Fantagio101 Those both sound like great game modes. I feel that an app is likely to be more successful if there is some opportunity for variety, at least in the long run, as there is more replay value. The competitive will likely be more used, but if you do a good job on the PvE, it will ultimately be the balance the game needs to keep players from getting bored and quitting. That's my two cents. For my defense, I'd love to say Taylor, but I'd be lying to myself. I'm awful at drawing circles, and would likely end up with a defense weaker than drawing a box around myself. In all honesty, I'd probably draw a Ballintian and focus on hitting the opponent with lines of vigor and lots of chalklings. Chalkling wise, I'd probably draw crabs with sword like claws for defense and eagles on offense.
  9. You created the one of the biggest RPs on the Shard almost simply by existing (and writing a really long detailed introduction). You are funny, and create fabulous discussions. (see the puns thread) You have a great profile name and photo.
  10. 36. If you seem to be about halfway through the protagonist’s arc and everything is going well, GET THE DAMNATION OUT OF THERE. RUN LIKE YOUR RUSTING LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, BECAUSE STORMFATHER, IT MIGHT. Everything is about to go horribly wrong. 37. If a person starts receiving visions of the future, or someone dreams something important, don’t tell them they are crazy and dismiss them. Pay attention to everything they have to say and try to interpret the messages to avoid more deaths or nefarious traps. 38. If some crazy person tries to tell you something that seems like gibberish or madness, pay attention to them. It’s either very important, or they are Hoid. 39. Don’t trust that (those) new crew member(s) your ship just hired. 40. If by some chance you are the villain, don’t be overconfident and overlook the main character as no threat. Don’t toy with them or set up elegant traps. Don’t trust your minions to do the job. (See rule 15) Most importantly, don’t build a storming back entrance into your base. No matter how secret it is.
  11. 19. Don’t eat the cookies. (Wait...) 20. Don’t be the love interest to a budding main character before the plot starts. You won’t even live to see chapter 1. 21. Don’t be the mentor to the protagonist. Just say no. 22. Don’t be the main villain. No matter how fun it sounds. 23. Don’t follow the creepy sound into the forest. 25. Be Hoid. 26. Bring the armor with you. It’ll be useful, I promise. 27. If you happen to be a god, don’t rest on your laurels. Or ignore the people plotting to assassinate you. 28. Always hire better guards. The standard issue ones come with defects (ie inability to keep things not stolen/keep friends not dead) 29. When hiring employees or accepting quest members, do a thorough background check. Twice. 30. Don’t ignore the mentor.
  12. I liked dusts, for one (Rithmatist), but rusts is very similar and it might be better. I haven’t decided. Also love the scene where Dalinar swears “Stormfather!” and the Stormfather replies “Yes?”
  13. Is Nightblood a girl? That’s a good question. Somebody probably knows. Don’t eat the cookies. What is your favorite animal/beast in the cosmere?
  14. I personally recommend people to read them in this order: Mistborn: The Final Empire Well of Ascension Hero of Ages Elantris The Alloy of Law Shadows for Self The Bands of Mourning Warbreaker The Way of Kings Words of Radiance Oathbringer Arcanum Unbounded (I really enjoyed reading this as a collection, and would recommend it last because it bridges all the gaps from the other books on the path to greater cosmere understanding, but alternatively you can read stories within it after you read the book(s) it contains spoilers for.) Remember, this is just my personal reading order, and you can completely ignore it if you wish. Personally, I feel that the Stormlight Archive takes a lot of trust in the author to begin (what, with a prelude, prologue, chapter one narrated by a side character who dies in five pages and is basically another prologue, and all) and should be read later when the reader has a better idea of the quality the author can deliver and does not give up on the book. (read: reader is sufficiently addicted to Sanderson) I suggest TFE first because I feel that it does a better job hooking the reader on the story than Elantris. (don't take this as criticism of Elantris, I loved that book) One thing you should definitely do, regardless of reading order, is read Warbreaker before the Stormlight Archive. WoR and OB spoilers: Just my two cents.
  15. A scientist was planning to break the laws of physics. His assistant advised him not to because the coppers can always Cu.
  16. I’d tell a noble gas joke but all the good ones argon. Never mind, I’ve got one, what happens if you punch helium? Nothing. It’s unreactive.
  17. @Fantagio101 A rithmatic dueling app?!? That sounds amazing. Would you do it in a PvP style, or what? Whenever you finish it, please do share it with the community. What type of chalklings do you draw?
  18. @Tesh it’s probably not so weird among Sanderson fans. I also knew that. I’m not proud. Still a fabulous drawing though.
  19. One more vote for shardbearer statues. That’s a great idea.
  20. @Lanny you type @ then you type their user tag. @deacon It is amazing that giant crabs and gemhearts can be so alien yet seem so right, isn’t it?
  21. That’s great. He had no idea his magic system would create such a... group. Also, someone should go to a signing and tell Brandon not to eat the cookies because they are spiked.
  22. The Stormlight archive is a great series. Who is your favorite character from all of Brandon’s books @Rick Estabrook?
  23. @I am Witless Snuck is the the right tense. (I think) Also, I got the 24601 reference.
  24. There is no way the dog should win. Go out and vote! If you need more motivation, do it for the stick.
