  1. “Thank you, Kidpen, Gancho Libre. Libre, you may call your first witness to the stand to be sworn in by the bailiff.”
  2. All posts beyond this line are considered in-world, and must be discolored if they are merely chat. "Please rise. The Court of the Alleyverse, Third Circut, Criminal Division, is now in session, the Honorable Judge Mistspren presiding." intones the dull voice of the bailiff. I walk into the room, trying to project a stately air, and climb onto the podium, sitting down. "You may be seated." I proclaim. "Your Honor, the case today is Libre v. Thorstenson." reads the bailiff, thick stack of papers held inches from his marbled red and black nose, despite his thick spectacles. The man was a Listener who preferred to remain in dullform at all times for spiritual reasons. Still, he did his job well, never having faltered in fifty years of service, and I was glad to work with him. "Is the prosecution ready?" I ask, looking at Gancho Libre, waiting for him to confirm or deny.
  3. Oh, I am so sorry for misunderstanding. I can copy paste my post into here and report the other one to the moderators for removal.
  4. Ok. In that case, all power for decision making rests in my hands. I will not abuse this power, but if anybody tries to bribe me or threaten me, they will be held in contempt by the court. I am making the thread for this to occur in now.
  5. I will consent to judge this case, and while acting as judge will drop all Alleyverse ties and rule with impartiality, so help me Adonalsium. While I am judge, I am to be referred to as "Your Honor" and treated with the respect given to justices in the American legal system, as that is what we are basing this trial off of. We will be treating this as a civil case, under the name Libre v. Thorstenson. I expect our proceedings will go as follows, a formal indictment by Gancho Libre, followed by opening statements from both parties, any interviewings of witnesses that may occur, who must be sworn in, and if found to be lying, can be brought to trial for perjury. The plaintiff will present evidence first, followed by the defendent. After that, there will be a rebuttal by the plaintiff, followed by closing statements. If we include a jury, we will need to vote to accept them before the start of the trial. At this point in their trial, they will provide a verdict, reached in a PM, and I will give a judgement and sentencing. The trial may be appealed to a higher court if lost, and some error is found in the proceedings. If we are to include a jury, they must be fairly active, as well as impartial. I also suggest we hold the trial in a separate thread, where all non inworld comments are either to be placed in quotes or color-changed. Thank you for selecting me as your judge.
  6. Sorry about that. My character is a 4th Ideal Stoneward.
  7. I’d like to join as well, as a Knight of Cultivation. If that’s not allowed, Honor will suffice.
  8. Now why would I lie? Are you telling me the SA didn’t make you binge read it?
  9. I spoiled the end of Hero of Ages for myself.... I have regrets...
  10. When you try to upvote things, and when it doesn’t work automatically assume that the post must be aluminum cloaked.
  11. See, I specifically wished for your powers to go away, and the Nightwatcher has that power.
  12. I wish that it would rain, and this could all wash away, wiping all the powers gained by Kidpen, TYP, and AonEne and leaving them all as normal human beings.
  13. I haven’t read it in a while, and you are likely right, but I still believe the nature of Ruin providing Intent is only possible due to shardic status. The soldier himself may have been spiked or guided by Ruin in some way. Whatever the case, once again I am sorry for derailing an intro thread.
  14. In that case, Spook was under the influence of Ruin, providing Intent. He was not a third party entirely, as you suggest. Part of that is likely due to the amount of Ruin in all humans on Scadrial, and part likely due to the state of mind Spook was in after becoming a Savant, especially while on death’s door. Also, Ruin is a shard, and has considerably more ability to influence people and magic systems, especially his own (hemalurgy) than a non affiliated mortal would. These are very different circumstances, and the parallel you draw is tenuous at best.
  15. Splintering a shard, maybe? Ati almost succeeded with Leras, and that would most definitely be a breach Rayse/possibly Bavadin had committed, making them worthy of Hoid’s ire. Also, I agree that the Topaz and Original Hoid could be candidates for loss/ death, but knowing Brandon, this whole story is probably filled with red herrings, in order to throw us off.
  16. I will agree to disagree. From a cosmere theory standpoint, I would approach it the same way as giving Breath. If somebody says “my life to yours, my Breath become yours” by accident, there is no Intent and the transfer does not occur. Just because somebody else wants the transfer to happen does not mean that it occurs. Personally, I believe this is because Intent opens a Connection with the investiture, allowing it to travel along an otherwise blocked pathway, but that is a tangent better saved for a theories thread. Again, apologies to Fluff for hijacking your thread.
  17. Ooh, that seems to imply that’s Hoid lost somebody or something, and Ati was partially the cause of that, yet Hoid insists that he has greater reasons, beyond his vendetta. It also seems to say that the rules agreed upon, possibly by the vessels, not only do not apply to Hoid, but may have been broken by Ati and others, and at risk of breaking worse. This could be the agreement for the shards to stay away from each other and.... Ok, I got carried away there. That’s really interesting, in any case. Thanks for the transcription Chaos.
  18. Friendly reminder, hemalurgy requires Intent. So sorry about this Fluff, there are guild conflicts going on. Feel free to join one, or stay out of it completely and focus on the theorizing or writing corners of the shard. Glad to have you.
  19. Granted, but you are paralyzed and blinded and cannot use any of it. I wish I could sleep.
