Frustration's Firepower Index: Allomancy
StanLemon replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Adding to this, Inquisitor Steelsight should give 365° vision as well -
True, and it might just be my interpretation of her letter, but it just reeks of of condescension

...I feel like this is an understatement

It's hard to tell, the stories of the Well had to come from somewhere though and Scadrial would have been fairly advanced for only a millennium of society so its likely either it had happened before or at least there was a significant period of time before Ruin was trapped. However, 1000 years could be enough time to build up the pre-ascencion society that Scadrial had assuming the Shards kept in contact with their people significantly during the early centuries which would still imply a time period between their creation and Preservation trapping Ruin HoA implies that they were aware of both Seems like a very reasonable assumption The only wildlife we ever ger to see are mistwraiths, horses, and dogs but if the nobility is eating any kind meat regularly then they would need to have some kind of farm animal

Two things, one, the size of the explosion is relative to the amount of Light used and that is dependent on the size of the gemstone. An explosion from a gem larger than a broam but small enough to fit into the hilt of a dagger wasn't enough to destroy a room or even kill someone who was a few feet away. Secondly, Rayseium is still needed and even the Fused admit it is hard to acquire. So handheld ones are not likely to be seen anytime soon, there are just more practical weapons to use still

Arelon citizens naturally have some kind of Connection so they probably don't need an invitation the same way Hoid did

As long as you put in a spoiler box it should be fine

I probably phrased it badly. But there are multiple examples in the book from Wax and Vin where it's referenced that they Push harder against larger more massive pieces of metal. Mostly in reference to their flight. This can likely be attributed to two things. One is the larger and more massive a piece of metal is, the further away an Allomancer can be and still keep Pushing on it. This part isn't influenced by the Allomancer's weight The second reason though is the important part to this conversation. Steelpushing applies the force equally* to both the Allomancer and metal. Accordingly the nature of Newtonian physics means that the greater the disparity in the mass of the two, the harder the less massive one is Pushed away. *theoretically at least, we do have a few examples of seeming exceptions to this

I mean, Wax had enough weight stored up in BoM to push a train car which would be a few tons, a Compounder would likely have vastly more weight than that Not entirely accurate, while the weight of the Allomancer and the metal correspond to how strong a Push is, Vin in TFE and Elend in HoA show that an Allomancer's raw power influences it as well

Is there anything Bondsmiths can't do?
StanLemon replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Very well said, I think along these lines as well Additionally, the greatest feats we know of Bondsmiths doing, they theoretically had access to a Dawnshard during those times -
Considering it's the Surge of vacuum and pressure and that Windrunners have some kind of ability to sculpt the air I'd say that it's safe to say yes

Brandon has more or less confirmed Jaddeth is Autonomy. And a lot of Hrathen's thoughts in his introductory chapter could easily have come from a member of The Set. Hrathen talks about needing ambition and that complacency is a sin sound like Autonomy's dogma. Also, unless there is a WoB that I'm not remembering, there never has been proof that Dominion was evil, just the fan theory based on the name
-
I started rereading Elantris and hoo boy does Hrathen's first chapter alone have lots of parallels between The Derethi and The Set after TLM. Makes me wonder if has planning Autonomy's motives back then too or if he was actively referencing how he wrote The Derethi as he was writing TLM. On another note, for a Vessel who didn't pick up Ambition, Bavadin and her religions sure are obsessed with it. Corruption from when they killed Ambition maybe?

Who would win, the Ultimate Cosmere free for all.
StanLemon replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
But what Investiture are they supposed to Command? Their own Investiture that makes up their existence? That would be like an Allomancer using the part of their soul that grants Allomancy as the fuel. Besides, there would be no point in the Sleepless forbidding Rysn from forming a Bond if she could just use the power of the Dawnshard itself -

Think of it this way, Awakening needs Commands but they are useless without Breaths and Color to fuel it -
The way I saw it, part of Hoid's curse was designed that it would forge a Connection with Arelon and allow him to become an Elantrian if he broke it
-
It might have the same effect on spren as a Shardblade cutting them. Hurts them without killing them
-
Worldbringers and Worldsingers might just be the same thing. I could see Rosharan linguistic drift just substituting the "bringer" part with a familiar "singer"
-
It would only speed up the process. Which I consider useful in its own way

Here is a thought. Could an Elantrian with living Shardplate make Aons appear on it? If so, that is some powerful synergy -

I'd imagine Heightenings and A-Copper would go a ways to protect a Hemalurgist as well -
If you were a fullborn, what would you use your powers for?
StanLemon replied to MangoBoi101's topic in Mistborn
If you'll refer to my original post on this subject, I never said that a government couldn't win. In fact I did straight up say they would likely win. The issue is that a Fullborn would make governments pay dearly for it though. The point was that a government would likely be scared to start a conflict with a Fullborn because of the potential losses Really? You consider a Fullborn tearing their way through the countries leadership a minor inconvenience? Once the politicians know that the Fullborn isn't targeting soldiers but killing politicians they are much more likely to capitulate. That's the thing, leaders are much more likely to continue an escalation while they feel safe and less so when they feel like they themselves are at risk. Even Putin with his stranglehold on Russia wouldn't be able to continue his war against Ukraine if all the other politicians in Russia knew that Ukraine could potentially systematically assassinate them, for example. Secondly, powerful Soothing/Rioting on officers would eventually get me the information I needed to target critical infrastructure. nuclear response without nuking a city... I'm well aware you mean targeting the Fullborn while they aren't in the city, just felt like odd phrasing. But again, having almost infinite Fortune is almost certainly going to find them a way out of that possibility -

StanLemon replied to MangoBoi101's topic in Mistborn
Considering the tidbits we do know about Fortune, I feel like that power more than any other would be useful for a Fullborn. Even if it is just powerful 'gut reactions' as to what to do, constantly tapping it would more or less make it so that a Fullborn is never put into a vulnerable situation. -

Doesn't need to avoid, if it's indoors, an explosion limited to a house isn't going to stop a Fullborn. If they are outside it is well within reason that a Fullborn would notice it coming via Steel lines and enhanced senses and could Push the thing way. They would have to use ordinances meant for taking out city blocks. To create a noticeable vacuum like Marasi did in BoM she would have had to be moving fast enough to be comparable to some of the fastest missiles on earth. Time bubbles as shown in AoL can compress time enough to watch an explosion in slow motion. Miles shows Gold Compounding can have enough health to casually heal before even fully sustaining the injury, so unless ordinances are strong enough to instantly vaporize the Fullborn it won't be enough. Marsh could see quite the distance with Steelsight. And in all likelihood constantly tapping Fortune would protect them from such sneak attacks in the first place -

True, but would you be willing to start a war over it? Especially when said superhuman might survive and join the victim nation against you? I'm not saying that a modern military couldn't stop a Fullborn, but that a Fullborn would be able to make any nation world leader pay dearly for it as a Fullborn could realistically bypass the rank and file and target leaders. It would most likely be a pyrrhic victim for any nation
