  1. Keep in mind, we don't know the in world origin of the name. An easily justifiable in world origin could be that The Stormfather and Nightwatcher were viewed as the children of Honor and Cultivation respectively rather than both, then when Honor and Cultivation created The Sibling, they each called it Sibling and it just could have stuck. It would be far from the most ridiculous reason something got stuck with a ridiculous name
  2. The Rhythms, Pure Tones, and pulses that Seekers sense are all different manifestation of the same property of Investiture. The Pulses that Vin sensed from the Well of Ascension was Preservation's Pure Tone. Rhythms that Singers sense seem to be tied at least in part to Cognitive aspects, primarily emotional, but there does seem to be a more primal aspect to it as well considering there are non emotion related Rhythms they mention. Seekers on the other hand are aligned to Kinetic Investiture and what that Investiture is doing. Something Singers don't seem to be able to sense
  3. There is definitely more going on with Inquisitors than just Spike doubling, unless every single instance of an Inquisitor being stronger than Kelsier or Vin is an Inquisitor made from a Mistborn. Which is unlikely as it is explicitly stated that most Inquisitors were not Mistborn and were originally just Seekers. Bendal was physically stronger than Kelsier, and there was a random Inquisitor when Vin was trying to escape Kredik Shaw that Iron Pulled a candelabra from Vin's flaired Pewter enhanced grip and she even says his Ironpull is stronger than Kelsier's ever was. So unless this random Inquisitor was also a Mistborn, which is already established as unlikely, something about becoming an Inquisitor increases Allomantic power.
  4. The thing is, to Preserve something you have to add energy into the system. To counteract Entropy(Ruin) additional energy needs to constantly be added. Another thing is that there is no change to the Allomancer themselves with the maybe exception of Pewter* so unlike the effects of Feruchemy the Allomancer themselves is "preserved." Feruchemy on the other hand requires converting one's physical/cognitive/spiritual self into Investiture and causes changes while storing and tapping. While not as intuitive as if Feruchemy was of Preservation and Allomancy was the mix, it does make sense for Allomancy to be Preservation and Feruchemy to be what they are. Additionally, I believe there is a WoB that Feruchemy is tilted towards Preservation in a similar way that humans on Scadrial have slightly more Preservation to them. *Allomantic Pewter is debatable. There is no direct physical change, yet they are stronger, faster, tougher, and heal faster but these might just be an effect of Investiture suffused into their system
  5. It's honestly hard to judge, considering the population of TFE there were likely at least a few hundred throughout the entire empire. Possibly into the low thousands. The problem is that noble houses kept their Mistborn a secret as long as possible so it makes estimations difficult. Throughout the books themselves, not counting artificial Mistborn like Elend, we have a confirmed 9 Mistborn. Gemmel, Kelsier, Antillius Shezler, Vin, Crews Geffenry, Shan Elariel, the Mistborn working with Shan to assassinate Elend, the Mistborn at the beginning of Well of Ascension, and Zane.
  6. There have been documented cases of lifting a car. But there is a big caveat to it, they are typically only lifting a portion of the car a couple of inches off the ground. When these events have happened they have only been lifting a fraction of the weight of the vehicle rather than the whole weight of the vehicle. I have a feeling Rock is on his way to becoming a Stoneward...
  7. This is more or less how I've come to view Stormlight enhancements. Like a constant adrenaline fueled body allowing for the full expression of the body. But with the added advantages of limitless stamina and regeneration. Few if any expressions of strength have truly gone beyond what I could believably see a person doing and the only two examples that definitely stand out do seem to be exceptions rather than the rule. The first being Rock using a Shardbow which mystified Kaladin and Dalinar lifting a big rock but there is the implication that Tension can be used to increase strength Brandon's wording makes it slightly unclear but using other factors from the books, particularly Kaladin's comment that Stormlight doesn't give great strength, it's probably safe to say Brandon was referring to Surges
  8. Either way, it's still a stretch to use the unsupported maybe that a Kandra might be able to do this as an argument that F-Steel doesn't speed up perception when the simpler answer which is supported by WoB is that perception and thought speed up with the body.
  9. I believe Bleeder could explicitly only use one type of Spike at a time. Except while F-Zinc does do that, Brandon has straight up said the bullet time thing is more an F-Steel thing. More evidence exists towards the interpretation that what Marasi experienced is a standard for F-Steel than not
  10. He starts it with this Saying bullet time is Steel's thing, but that F-Zinc has overlap and that there is a level of bullet time that F-Zinc can also give
  11. Except at the end there Brandon says that bullet time is F-Steel's thing. This pretty much says that time seeming to slow down relative to the Steelrunner is a standard feature
  12. From what we see Marasi do in BoM, this is not the case. Marasi was easily able to casually go up to Set goons and grab their vials of metal, and was able to fully grasp what was happening around her while sped up. This shows that both delicate actions, such as striking more precisely and fully utilizing the speed difference is possible. While Marasi might have also been tapping some F-Zinc, Wax seemed to have plenty when he used it. Additionally, the bits we see of Bleeder in SoS from Wayne's time bubble support the idea that F-Steel imparts the full necessary perception and thought speed to fully utilize F-Steel Edit: there is also this WoB
  13. Anyone who's ever played a video game that lets you slow down time even for a moment can attest how powerful it is
  14. I assume that the more blinded Harmony has been by Trell, the more Spikes can be used before he can take control
  15. I imagine that Nightblood is so Invested at this point that the line between his Physical Aspect and Cognitive Aspect gets kind of muddied
  16. Relevant info from TLM There is also the WoB where he likens Feruchemy to DnD uses and he would have F-Zinc give bonus to initiative and bonus to hit
  17. I don't have my physical copy on hand right now, so I can't give you the page, but it's chapter 58. He uses it only briefly to quickly figure out the trajectory of a lamp Marsh was manipulating. F-Zinc speeds up mental processing power and allows for intuitive leaps, even if the Fullborn isn't thinking through every movement it would make the mental part of reaction time always faster than any Windrunner and combined with A-Pewter physical part of reaction time will be comparable to any Radiant. So a Fullborn will always have the advantage in reaction time. As far as healing goes, no Compounding is still shown to be better it still takes several moments for Kaladin's broken bones to heal, and it even took a few moments for it to heal a sprain as a 3rd Ideal Radiant. Miles on the other hand, healed his broken bones before they even finished breaking, that would require him to heal in a fraction of a second. And he took a blast of dynamite to the face and was fully healed almost instantly after.
  18. Even without F-Steel, a Fullborn is stronger than Plate, heavier than Plate when necessary, heals faster than any Windrunner, Sazed’s fight with Marsh shows F-Zinc does in fact help in fights as it speeds up thought and Sazed had very little of the attribute, one touch with Chromium drains a Radiant of their Stormlight, is as nimble as anyone we've ever seen in Plate, time bubbles to confuse and reposition in an instant, and I can go on. F-Steel makes the argument of who wins moot, but even without F-Steel, Fullborn still have a decent number of advantages.
  19. Or the more terrifying possibility that Sazed has gotten really good at lying
  20. Considering that Marasi was leaving a noticeable vacuum and air fills a vacuum at approximately 500 m/s, she was most likely going at least that fast. Honestly she almost probably going even faster as she probably wasn't moving her hand more than a few centimeters so it would have only taken a fraction of a second to fill that vacuum. If we assume that your equation is correct then the amount of speed that was stored in the steel was even more than 17000 months estimate
  21. I'm thinking we have a miscommunication here. What it seems like you are picturing I'm saying is different than what I'm trying to say. Let's try this again, you are an Allomancer with a bar that's center of mass is directly in front of you. Each end of the bar is a 45° from your center. You apply twice the strength of the Push to one end than the other. Both ends are still being Pushed away from you. The center of mass of the bar should end up moving about 22.5° from its starting position away from you in the direction that had the greater Push. And now that the bar has moved, the angles of the two ends has changed meaning the angle the center of mass gets steeper causing the flight path of the bar to curve. Is that not what would happen?
  22. I don't understand why it wouldn't. Relative to the object as a whole forces would be applied at different angles if you are Pushing on different parts of the metal with different strength Pushes. Like if you had a metal bar that had its center of mass in front of your center that you are Pushing from, whether you Push directly at the center of mass or at both ends with equal force it will go directly away from you as the angles of force the two ends of the bar experience will cancel each other out. But if you Push on one end twice as hard as the other end, the angle of force will only be partially cancelled out, so the whole bar should start moving that direction.
  23. Yeah that seems to be the case from what we get from Wax's pov
  24. It's almost certainly because of basic perception. When a person thinks "bullet" they generally think of the whole bullet like Wax did and it wasn't until Wax thought of the parts of the bullet that the lines split. Iirc when Kelsier found Straff's hidden safe he only saw one line going to the safe and not any going to the tumblers because they were part of the overall the perception of a "safe." So it's probably just simpler overall to Push on the center of mass If you Push on different parts simultaneously at different strengths it should curve, a curve that would be more controllable with properly modulated Pulls. That's admittedly way beyond the skill of most Allomancers, maybe even beyond Kelsier's skill with Steel and Iron. I would however imagine that Compounded stores of Feruchemical Zinc and Electrum would go a long way to developing the skill
