  1. I was always a Perrin guy. Mat was just too annoying...
  2. No. But many theories put the Heralds coming to Roshar from another planet (other planet in the Roshar system or even Yolen), whereas aimians and parsh look to be Roshar natives. I initially thought one of them is Parsh (based on their pictures) but since then reconsidered this. I am not sure you have Parsh surgebinders. If not Parsh, then probably not aimians as well.
  3. 1) The dying prophecies, spren bonding have resurfaced after Gavilar discovering the Parshendi on the Shattered Plains. Galivar, before dying, tells Szeth "you are too late". Since I don't think that either humans meeting parshendi, or humans getting on the shattered plains triggered the prophecies and spren bonding, must be that there was some ACTION being done at that point in time. Gavilar saying "you are too late" means the action was completed already. 2) Yes, Prelude I was trying to imply that "the enemy" might not be Odium in that fight.
  4. Axies is not human. I think all heralds are humans.
  5. I thought it was part of the intention. If the surgebinder's intention is to include the spear, then the spear is a part. Jasnah's intention was to transform the entire guy + clothing into crystal, and so it happened. If the intention was just for the 'body' of the guy (and not 'the guy as I see him in front of me'), then the clothes would not have turned. This is similar to the "visualisation" part in Awakening - you need a "mental image" of the thing you soulcast / surgebind etc... Similar to Lift - here you also have the possibility that only the surface she is sliding onto is affected.
  6. N.E.E.D. T.O. R.E.A.D. T.H.E.S.E. S.C.E.N.E.S. N.O.W...
  7. This. Plus, probably Amaram will be busy badmouthing Shallan as a spy (given her brother) than badmouthing Kaladin. Amaram will probably just try to stay out of his way.
  8. Why would she not attract one quick? She was extraordinary back then as well...
  9. interlude of Mr. T, where some guy soulcasts stone to smoke.
  10. What enemy? I think "the enemy" was mentioned only once, in a vision...
  11. Amaram: "Why, Kaladin, my old pal, I see Shallan Davar came with you. I did not know you two are so close now. My dear Shallan, I am so sorry to hear about your brother's death. Why, apparently he has been killed by captain in a border skirmish... Fortunately, the bastard has been punished and branded a slave. Now, what was your question again, Kaladin?"
  12. Yes, that's how it looks the first time you look at it: the parshmen are those that are slaves and "forgot" their forms; the parshendi are the "true" parsh people. But let's not forget how Brandon turned on us He can easily turn the parsh on us too - for example, the parshmen may be the ones that actually "remember" everything, and they don't want to use any forms because of their "contract" with Honor, while at the same time accumulating a hoard of shards . And the parshendi descended from some misguided/odium-influenced parshman, who left off with his cache of shards and did not teach his kids about the contract with Honor, and they evolved in this tribe of wild parshmen.
  13. While it's a good theory, and links up with some other good theories, I just cannot see Gavilar going to the Parshendi and telling them: "I'll reinstate the KR!", why would he talk to the Parshendi about the KR when he did not talk to hist brother/friends/family about it? Plus, Gavilar DID something that triggered spren to bond again, and maybe a new Desolation. He would not have told the Parshendi he was planning to do something that he already did. Plus, you can argue Parshendi also "dabble" in the same arts, trying to bond new spren and all. I actually think the slave Parshmen know more about the Desolations and all than the Parshendi. I think the Parshendi lost their knowledge over time, or were influenced.
  14. Wait, we are being serious here?
  15. There are no stones in Shinovar... so they might cut the earth (ploughing supercharged lol) )
  16. I can agree with you that Allomancy is "of Preservation" in the sense that the gift of allomancy is given to humans by Preservation. But not that allomancy uses Preservation's power
  17. It is a shard that gives you access to the power, and there are different ways in which it can do that, "consciously" or not. Maybe it's better to say that it's through a shard (and its intent) that you get access to the power. Sazed made Spook a mistborn, "consciously". The Almighty probably made the heralds, "consciously". On the other hand, you have the Shaod on Sel, which still happens even with Aona dead and Devotion splintered - "unconsciously". And you have beads of lerasium, one of Preservation's ways of giving access to power. I would like to see that quote, about being linked to Preservation. Even if that were true, I guess it would be for 1st generation mistborns only. I highly doubt Zane for example was linked to Preservation - quite the contrary, we know he was influenced by Ruin, and we know Preservation was not touching anything that was touched by Ruin (i.e. Vin until she got the earring removed). Plus, it's not only lerasium what gives you access to the power. Feruchemists did not start with lerasium.
  18. Since nobody is allowed near farms, maybe the shards are used by the farmers lol... Let's remember Dalinar digging the hole, thinking why there are no shards for farmers Maybe this is exactly what the shin have done... collecting shards and use them in farming )
  19. I don't think it's just the value, but also the act of measuring that counts.
  20. I am willing to concede here points to Shardlet, and partially agree with what you say. But I don't think Weiry is spot on, at all. I see a difference between the power of Preservation and the power of Adonalsium. A shard cannot do everything with its power what Adonalsium could do with its power, just like an invested person that can do magic cannot do all that a shard can do. And I don't think it's just because the intent. Currently we can say that all shards are/were equal in power - but we cannot say that they are equal to what Adonalsium was. Going back to the example of Vin, when drawing upon the mists, she used the power if Preservation, as in Preservation consciously fuelled her directly. If Preservation wanted to stop the "fuel", he could have done so. Whereas a mistborn uses the "spiritual power", the power of creation, the power of Adonalsium, the power that Preservation comes from too, but not specifically Preservation's power, Preservation is not consciously fuelling all mistborn. i.e., Preservation cannot stop the "fuel" for a mistborn. He can change the mistborn such that he's not a mistborn anymore and thus cannot access the power anymore, so he can stop the access to the fuel, but not the fuel (like in Vin's case). So, I continue to believe that saying mistborn are fuelled by Preservation is wrong. The power of creation is not Preservation, is Ruin too. So Ruin is fuelling allomancy in the same way Preservation is. And 14 others. Previously, (mostly because of my understanding of the Dor) I was under the impression that the "power of creation" was somehow localized for each planet, which I reconsidered. It's the same "power of creation" spanning probably the spiritual everywhere, and manifested differently on each planet because of different cognitive and physical reflections. BUT, again, I believe it is not ONE SHARD's POWER that fuels a magic system, allomancers do not use Preservation's power (EDIT: but you can say they use the same power that Preservation is using. Then again, you can say Preservation uses the same power as the allomancers, so if you want to say allomancers use Preservation's power then you can equally say Preservation uses allomancer's power, allomancers use Ruin's power, Honor uses Endowment's power, the Dor uses awakener's power, etc since basically and generally, everyone's power == the power of Adonalsium/creation and can be substituted in all of the above). ANOTHER EDIT: about the Dor, I think it's actually correct to say that the way the Dor manifests is localized, not the Dor. Since you have the Dor everywhere, just that it needs to be accessed in different ways (aons / stamps / etc...). YET ANOTHER EDIT: and thus, we see a geographical localization of how to access the Dor in a similar way, but on a smaller scale, of how you access the power of creation in the cosmere. On Roshar you access the power of creation in a different way than on Nhaltis (although it's the same power of creation), just like in Arelon you access the Dor in a differnet way than in Fjorden (although it's the same Dor). Of course, this means that something is very different, probably in the cognitive level, between the regions on Sel. I wonder if Odium had something to do with that...
  21. I actually wanted to post this myself I don't think gemhearts are just gems, and probably there are no "ordinary" gems on Roshar. If you would bring gems to Roshar, they might not hold stormlight. Gemhearts do one extraordinary thing: they store stormlight. And of all the shards, gemhearts coming from Cultivation fits best. Although, on other worlds, the shard's body did not have anything in common with the shard's intent. Still, you have an upvote for beating me in posting this
  22. Let's agree to disagree. We can both agree that the way the interactions between the 3 realms are different on each planet and they determine how the power of creation is manifested on that planet, can we? About Hoid, I did not mean he was a Forger from Sel (obviously, he has been around for much longer), but that what he did was akin to Forgery - i.e. on a planet he would recognize how the 3 realms interact, and he would be able to change his sDNA. I do not think Hoid does magic with power from Adonalsium i.e. the only investiture from Adonalsium he has is what makes him "human", and is not granting him any extra "features". Also, I don't think Hoid does not age, I always thought he jumps in time. So he's like 40 years old, just that he spent an hour in some shady part of Shadesmar where time is different, so 1000 years have passed in "real life", or something like that. So he's just "ordinary" human, but his knowledge of the 3 realms allows him to world hop, access the power of creation, and go forward in time. Of course, he's adept at reading the signs of what's happening in all the worlds, that's why he can "jump out" on the right planet at the right time... EDIT: so would you say surgebinders use the power of Honor, Cultivation, both, Adonalsium? And voidbinders use the power of Odium?
  23. Sliver of Adonalsium? As in someone that had the power of Adonalsium before it was shattered, and then let it go? Because I'm pretty sure the holder of Adonalsium died when it was splintered into the 16 shards.
  24. Totally agree with KiManiak. Each time I read about Moash I cringe a bit, and have this feeling that we will see him on the other side....
  25. How about Kalift ?! Looks to me they have lots in common.
