  1. * maybe those 2 orders were the only ones that dropped their shards to humans, others may have left them in Urithiru or something... * maybe not all orders had shards, or both plate & sword - only those fighting Thunderclasts. I would assume the enemy was not all about big monsters, it had some more... subtle... creatures. * by the time those 2 orders quite, the rest may have quit already/been dissolved... maybe those were the last radiants left... and they had all the KR's shards * since shards are heavily invested objects, I find it hard to believe that you had tens of thousands of them... so we can't really learn much from that vision, except that al some point there were 200 radiants and 200 shards. From here to tens of thousands is a preeety beeeg step.
  2. I think he thought 3rd edit was last... apparently is not... Probably that's why the book was delayed... For grinning at Dalinar's death: a good death is better than 10 books of nothing I thought the first book taught us that it's the journey that matters, not the destination I would be disappointed if everyone turns out to be a goody goody KR, which fights in the last battle in the last book.
  3. Not as good as ShardSpear
  4. thank you Gloom, that's what i was trying to say as well...
  5. Given that a fabrial traps a spren, we don;t know how Syl would react to a fabrial with a trapped honorspren in it.
  6. Renaring getting a spren makes Dalinar's death more probable
  7. Erm, if they would want teh shardblade they would kill everyone there. The blade would have to appear
  8. Cool. I say RESOLUTE/BUILDER.
  9. Hence my theory about the oathpact. Give the heralds access to Honor's power, w/o the "actions" strings attached, and bet if they will taint it or not.
  10. Achievement unlocked! Glad I have shaken your world
  11. I would love if blades/plates would be personal items, invested by honour on their radiants or gained through the spren bond. In this context, the theory that they remained when the radiants severed their bond would make sense... Lost, as Syl was lost on the winds. I even can't see why blades/plates cannot be splinters, with sentience, coming from the spiritual as spren come from the cognitive to bond a Radiant. Radiants talking to their armour/blade ... hehehe ... maybe this is how they were communicating ) plate-to-plate connections ) Joking aside, it can be both ways... personal items invested for you by the Almighty, crumbling to dust after your death, or just dumb items of power passed on from one knight to another, or fabrial with a spren trapped inside, or... There is not enough proof for any right now.
  12. Upvote for something that looks like a good second ideal. (maybe "truths unspoken?") Def Shallan is level -1 no ideals spoken yet. I would bet Jasnah too. That "you go to shadesmar with only one dun sphere" talk looks to me like she needs lots of stormlight
  13. 1) It's very possible Lift's interlude happens before Szeth meeting Mr. T. 2) It's possible there are no Alethi HP on the list because they are not interfering with Mr. T's plans... they are gone "hunting", each plotting for himself. Looks to me they are way more easily manipulated with bribes and politics. Except Dalinar, of course, he's the first to meddle with his plans. 3) It's possible Szeth meeting Mr. T was quite ahead of the rest of the story... when Jasnah was already gone from Karbranth, maybe already on the Shattered Planes. Maybe Dalinar is already Highprice of War, already doing some "uniting". Mr. T wanting to kill Dalinar might be for something we shall see in book 2, not for what we have seen in book 1. Actually, the only thing I can see upsetting T in book 1 is Dalinar working with Sadeas. And that's not a strong argument. From the outside, T would have seen Dalinar trying to work with every HP, and failing. Good news for him. Dalinar trying to work with Sadeas, and being betrayed. Dalinar having his army halved because of the betrayal. He might even expect a war between Dalinar and Sadeas. I am certain Sadeas is on high war alert even after Dalinar gave him his sword. So why would T want to kill Dalinar, make Elhokar drop his war with the Parshendi to find the assasin in white that killed his father AND uncle... since Dalinar is now seen as weakened - his army halved and his name in disgrace, everyone refusing him and mocking him? EDIT: can't wait to see Dalinar awesome in book 2
  14. Forgot about that WoB (Tanavast dead). Thx, Shardlet. Now: * honorspren existed before Honor was splintered (and Tanavast killed) * honorblades (heavily invested object by honor) existed before Honor was splintered => where are the splinters formed when Tanavast was killed? Corresponding to a huge amount of investiture... ? I don't think Roshar become honorspren land overnight. Also, with so many honorspren around, KR ranks would have been seriously inflated. Surgebinding would not have been "forgotten".
  15. Dumbed down seons (with hoed masters) were sentient?
  16. Lol, yes, it has stumbled and then fell into the pool.
  17. if the wielder of a honorblade would go to damnation, it means also he would be immortal. but it does not. so, the immortality vs. damnation is one aspect, the honorblade giving surgebinding ability is another. the link is that the honorblades are link to that "equilibrium". abandon the blade, the equilibrium is lost (you are immortal w/o damnation, i guess the reverse would be possible too if you had the blade in damnation, but who would abandon the blade to be stuck forever in damnation?). however, the power of the blade remains. somebody else can pick it up and have the powers. the immortality and damnation is just for the heralds. basically, the heralds may have severed the Bond with the blades (like Dalinar did when he handed it to Sadeas). w/o the bond, the oathpact is broken and heralds don't have to go to damnation. damnation was part of the oathpact. since this is broken, whoever gets the blade don't have to go to damnation, the oathpact will not "resume", it is broken forever (for that blade). although it is clearly stated that "Honor is dead", I would say that technically this is not true. Honor still lives, just that is in a coma. He lost 9/10 of his faculties, maybe Honor is not "conscious", but is not dead. I don't think Tanavast's body fell out of the spiritual like Leras's did. It would have fell out if all 10 heralds would have left. A tenth of Honor is still out there. (This is me thinking that Honor IS the 10 honorblades, and the 9 heralds leaving = losing the shard intent for that much power)
  18. There is a cognitive aspect, but not as big as a spren, which is a cognitive-only construction. Can you say that the "intent" of performing a surge is a cognitive aspect? If yes, why the spren?... In any case, human physical + spren cognitive + stormlight spiritual seems a good fit.
  19. By this definition, nightblood is not sentient then. Cause it's attracted by 1 thing only.
  20. He * (Dalinar, Elhokar, Kaladin ) = pick up the falled title or He - refers to the person. Tower, Crown, Spear - refers to the "position" Each person from a position must pick up the fallen title.
  21. 1. YES 2. YES 3. NO
  22. Surgebinders will have no more than 3 powers, and specifically windrunners will only be able to infuse and perform the 3 lashings as defined in the Ars Arcanum of tWoK. YES Windrunnners have a "Force Push" ability. Yes: Aether, Mailliw73. No: Natans NO The Stonewards have a communication ability (I believe the female knight exercises it in the Starfalls vision, but I don't know if that will ever be confirmed). NO There are 10 different types of spren that give the ability to Surgebind and they are all Splinters. YES Stormriding: is not a regular power of Surgebinding. It's a side-effect of either being a Surgebinder or a Radiant. Is not a regular power: YES; side-effect of surgebinder/radiant: NO Riding the storm is the Windrunner special ability. No other Radiants will be able to do it. Windrunner ability: NO, No ther radiants will be able to do it: YES Szeth is in possession of an Honorblade. YES Shardblades are corrupted by Odium. YES (not necessary by Odium, but by using them in a non-honourable manner) Shallan's brother (Nan Heleran?) was the Shardbearer who attacked Amaram back in Alethkar. YES Dalinar will be a Stoneward. We will see his spren in WoR. Stoneward: NO. Kaladin will wield a Shardspear in WoR. NOT in WoR (but he will have one by book 5). Baxil's mistress is Shallash. YES The two Surge-charts were created by Honor and Cultivation and establish the magic system. NO, only one of them was created bu H + C. The Order images on Cultivation's Surge-chart (woman, big gem, lightning) are images of spren. NO The Order images on Honor's Surge-chart (Radiants) are images of Honorblades. YES Voidbringers will have the inverse characteristics of the Heralds. NO The Tranquiline Halls and Damnation are both based off of real places in the Physical Realm. More specifically, they are other planets in the Roshar System. NO There are no Odium spren. There is no spren CREATED by Odium. The Radiants had a plan when they Recreanted that included saving information for their resurrection with the Vanrial. NO Urithiru will be found on the main continental land mass of Roshar to the west of Alethela in the physical realm. NO Szeth gets his windrunner abilities from his Shardblade. YES The parshendi killed Gavilar because "The evil sphere of doom" was a corrupted spren that could create a "voidbringer parshendi form". NO Shallarin (Shallan-Renarin shipping) will happen in WoR. NO The Ten Fools will have the inverse characteristics of the Heralds. NO
  23. Like Aether said.
  24. It's pretty probable that Honourblades grant access to radiant-like powers. I think it's clear heralds don't have a spren: 1) you don't want a spren bonded to a herald, since the spren could be killed => the herald would lose his surgebinding abilities; 2) the oathpact (honor + odium) would have implied a freedom of choice for the persons that were to become heralds - i.e. maybe it was a bet if honourable people were to be remain honourable in time - again, you don't want a spren there. The heralds are free to act as they wish, with or without honour. They still have the power. And using Honour's own power in ways that are not honourable most certainly would "kill" honour. On the other hand, with immortality, you don't want to give heralds power that can't be taken away. Hence, the Honourblades. "Being more powerful than shardblades" would be that - they also grant surgebinding ability. Now, some interesting questions here are: 1) do they grant access to 2 surges, or to all? which leads to: 2) if they grant access to 2 surges, can one person take all honourblades and have access to all surges? which leads to: 3) did Honour actually split all of himself into the blades? which leads to: 4) will Kaladin become master of all honoublades and hence become the new Honour shard?
