  1. I mean, there has to be a reason why the majority of actors in Hollywood are Caucasian (well above the ~60% US rate), right? To be sure, acting chops have to take precedence over pure representation. But, you know, why not at least try to accurately portray the varied and complex demographics of Roshar. If you end up with Alethi, Veden, Horneater, Shin, Herdazian, Iriali, and Makabaki all looking exactly the same - you would lose so much of what makes Roshar, Roshar. P.s. @Fanghur Rahl double-posting is against the Forum rules.
  2. So first, the Physical/Cognitive/Spiritual Realms are not substances, they're realms. Secondly, do you have an argument as to why their coexistence is "not tenable"?
  3. I believe that that is speaking specifically about lerasium. It is, but I interpreted the reasoning behind that WoB as being Shard-agnostic. Burning so much of the distilled essence of any Shard should warp the user in a pretty profound way.
  4. Not sure whether or not the Stormfather would remain separate, but it's definitely possible for a splinter to be absorbed into the larger whole. The Stormfather is not a Sliver, he is a splinter of Honor that merged with Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow. A Sliver is a "human intelligence who has held the power and released it"; a splinter is a portion of a Shard's power.
  5. It would be essentially impossible to soulcast a shardpool, as the Investiture resistance would be insurmountable. Interestingly, Brandon has talked about what burning a huge amount of a godmetal would do: it would basically Ascend you.
  6. I assumed that @Ixthos was being somewhat metaphorical with regards to Ambition's corpse. That Silverlight was founded in the location where Ambition was finished off/splintered by Odium, rather that the physical corpse of Uli Da is somehow incorporated into the buildings. I think that this theory has plenty of merit. Brandon has always talked about just how weird Silverlight is, and being formed from/at the location of a Shard's death would certainly count.
  7. @Red Team, FYI, you have 4 agents remaining. Good luck. Gameboard
  8. This one I still question. The WoB is there in Arcanum... But we've been trying to get the picture of the signed book it's from since Arcanum launched. I think this one's pretty clear. IIRC, Shallan thinks to herself that the ardent looks like a Herald due to the lighting when she first spots her.
  9. The Stormfather had sentience prior to Honor's death. Honor's death (and the subsequent merging of the Stormfather with Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow) only augmented his sentience. We know that the Stormfather had bonded with Knights Radiant before, which had to be prior to the Recreance. Honor's death took place after the Recreance. The Knights Radiant were not headed by Honor. The direct Investiture infusion from Honor was only for the Heralds via the Honorblades.
  10. Many darkeyed women (who have to work for a living) use a glove instead of a sleeve.
  11. I guess not. The most I've been able to find is that he was still around during Recreance, which was close to 2000 years before Way of Kings. Mistborn Era 1 is only a couple hundred years before Stormlight.
  12. The timeline doesn't fit. Honor was splintered long before Mistborn Era 1.
  13. I think you have a problem in your "baseline reality" (which is a pretty strange term to use when discussing magic). It's pretty clear from the books that Allomantic force is dependent on distance. So in your #2 scenario, it would only be identical to scenario #1 (floating) for the instant when the coin was at ground level. However, as soon as the coin starts to get farther away from the Allomancer, the force will decrease because the objects are getting farther apart. There's tons of discussion about the mechanics of steelpushing (the thread Pagerunner linked is the main one, but there are others, including this cool one about someone coding up a video game), and nobody has come up with a perfect, intuitive explanation. My mental picture is a combination of a Cognitively-linked, explosion-like conservation of momentum to determine the distribution and an inverse-square law determination of total energy input into the system.
  14. Welcome to the Shard! Aether of Night is an unpublished book, and therefore can only be discussed in the Aether of Night subforum. I would also recommending reading this welcome thread, which talks about a number of useful things, including the spoiler policy.
  15. @Herowannabe, are we playing the eightball variant?
  16. I think that Ambition has to be the one non-Voidbringer agent. Therefore, the remaining ones must be Voidbringer-related, so I would go with Jasnah and the Nifhtwatcher. Plus the Nightwatcher fits the Deity clue and can be thought of as the “sister” of the godspren (alongside the Stormfather and the Sibling).
  17. She had enough Stormlight to get her into Shadesmar, but not much more. It's clear from the deleted scene, that (after healing her wound) she only had a few small spheres left, just enough to Soulcast the ropes binding the captured sailors.
  18. The Nightwatcher is not going to force a spren to bond.
  19. Ryshadium have been confirmed to be a non-native species with a spren bond, so I think it's extremely unlikely that they have gemhearts. Humans are also a non-native species that bonds spren, and we know for sure that they don't have gemhearts.
  20. Brandon has explicitly confirmed that Allomancy is of Preservation, Hemalurgy is of Ruin, and Feruchemy is "more of a blend." There's also the fact that Lerasium, Preservation's Godmetal, has the (side)effect of making you an Allomancer.
  21. Brandon has said that Dalinar won't get plate; not sure about the blade.
  22. Wouldn't the simplest explanation be that he only used one surge, the one that we know can heal, rather than combining the healing surge with a non-healing surge?
