    The paper must be sort of necessary bonding platform, so that only actions applied to the paper are transferred. Otherwise every time someone tapped a reed to their lips while contemplated what to write or idly scratch their nose, the receiving person gets an unexpected reed to the face.

    Agree with short sentence structures....like 1-2 words max, low vocab, high repetition. Dog meeting a new dog: "Dog! Friend? Maybe friend? Friends nice. Kinda scary though. [body language, wagging, showing belly, etc?] Happy! Friend friend friend. Smells like poop! Poop is good." Now I'm just imagining baby spren when they're kind of idiots.

    Wait, it's been awhile since I've read SoD. Do the abilities ultimately come from the worms or the fruit plants? If it's from the plants, could seeds be taken and cultivated on other planets? (Holy moley, that would be an ecological disaster, the crazy death plants of Patji loosed on other worlds). Or are they tied to the world like many forms of investiture?

    Omg, yes, The Dark is Rising series was a favorite when I was kid (I avoided the movie, so I shouldn't comment on it, but from what I saw of the trailer it looks like they completely threw the script in the trash. If you only saw the movie, maybe try to forget it and give the books a try).

    I had a major giggle this morning that I need to share. i work with young children. We were outside and there was a bunch of robins out hunting for worms. I explained what the birds were and what they were doing. One of my little kids was SUPER EXCITED by them (and not me) and just turned around and yelled "LOOK ALL THE CHICKENS!" Naturally the first thing I can think of is Roshar and how all the birds are called chickens, so I start cracking up. When I recovered, I explained again they are birds like chickens, but they are called robins. He nodded wisely and simply said, "Chickens."

    Technically, Stewurithiruwets. I just assume that Rock had strong, but distant claim to kingship....but as family members died he's suddenly found himself as either king/high priest/something super important. Which is curiously similar to what happened to Adolin via Dalinar's abdication and Elhokar's demise. We also had Azure discussing what it means to choose not to rule.....assumed it was for Adolin, but maybe applies here as well.

    Saw the first showing. It's really good, agree Thanos is a complicated villain which I liked. Like any good Avengers movie, it made me laugh out loud several times........ and then broke my heart. It was the only way....

    This makes it sound like Adonalsium was shattered simply to steal his power, unlike what some theories have suggested that the Shattering was an necessary evil. Also, @zebobes, might want to change the topic title to "Traveler" with one L. (Your topic didn't come up in the forum search).

    Mistborn Crisis on Infinite Earths.... I guess it might make a handy prison cell? I'm envisioning Magneto's all plastic cell from one of the X-men movies. I can't see a point to burning it though...

    I think this is the simplest explanation of the two. Physical/organic is done directly by a person, mechanical with an external device. It's flying by one's own power vs flying via rocket boots. Hmmm Hemalurgy and souforging are weird. They're both technically external, but then become the person.....I guess they're both. When invested but not in use they're mechanical, when used on a person they become physical as it's the person using them?

    2) We know the Heralds shared pain in Damnation, but I wonder if they aren't still sharing emotions/pain/etc. Ash feels Jezrien's death/soul slurp. Could it be possible their insanity is linked as well? One herald lost their grip on reality and it trickled to all the rest in differing ways. Was Jezrien's alcohol induced fog leaving the other heralds slightly more confused all the time? And Ash's OCD transmitted to the others slightly? Everyone living in a combined soup of each other's mentalities. It's like a terrible form of empathy.
