  1. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the goat pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the goat-hole goes.
  2. I got temporarily excited because I was thinking Dockson's nickname "Dox" might be from the Greek "doxa", which references popularly held opinions as well as an orators ability to persuade said opinions through rhetoric and logic. Excited since it fit Dox so well...... Until I realized I'd actually been thinking about Ham's character, not Dox. :X
  3. *summons fact topic from the depths because I need to share my weird interests with people* Zipf's Law: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCn8zs912OE Numbers are weird. Math is weird. Languages are weird. Everything is awesome.
  4. And they all lived happily ever after. The End ...but really, I hope there isn't a "The world almost ended, but gets reborn" thing, because we kinda already had that once at the end of MB 1. Epic as it was, I think that card's been played. I do hope, in some form or another (possibly as a post-mortem letter?), it ends with an epilogue from Hoid.
  5. Kaladin held back a smile as Adolin held up the jacket. Skar and Drehy had gleefully been sent to scour the market for the most absurd looking piece of "fashion" they could find. They had not disappointed. It was a ridiculous bit, ruffs and fluffs in the strangest places with buttons that defied logic. The colors were....an interesting choice as well. "In case you need a spare outfit for the next trip Shadesmar," Kaladin said. Adolin gave a whistle. "This is incredible, bridge boy." "We thought so too," he said back with a smile. "Did you look through my folios? I mean, you got all the details. It's even incorporating the new half flip style out of Thaylenah." Kaladin's smiled slipped. "What?" Adolin was turning the jacket back to front. He wasn't....actually admiring the storming thing was he?
  6. Find the Shard's natural resonance. Apply strong vibrations that correspond to that resonance. Shard is literally unable to hold itself together.
  7. The Coldfire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman for some fantasy. The Madness Season, by same author, if you lean more sci-fi. Really like the writing. Songs of Earth and Power by Greg Bear. Fantasy, but in that "modern guy ends up a fantasy world" genre, but instead of being cliche it's unusual and....interesting.
  8. Cultivation, as "change" would be an interesting one to mix in though. Preservation and Ruin resist and limit each other due to conflicting interests, but Cultivation seems like it would be able to work dynamically with both. That being said, I don't really see it happening....
  9. Same ability, different planet's magic. I would guess that lightweavers could probably detect and interfere with each others illusions. Maybe we'll see Shallan and her squires having this happen to one another. I assume Hoid needed her to supply the light since he couldn't access stormlight (though now that he has a spren, maybe he can).
  10. Every time I read this is makes me mad I can't give it more votes. "The Shin Who Came In" is just so perfect.
  11. And then the 17th Shard re-examines all his responses with our usual over-the-top wild examinations: "What caused Ati to lose his original sense of self to his Intent? "W-What? Oranges? But--" "Ruin...ate the fruit of Preservation? He was corrupted by another shard? Why does their flatness matter? Is their shape being warped to to Scadrial's gravity? Are the oranges originally from a planet of much less gravity? Is it Yolen? Is that how dragons fly? Is Hoid an orange? *stares*
  12. We know it's being produced in "drafts", so likely a novel instead of something like a board game/movie/etc. That's kinda disappointing, if true. I'd love another novella. Guess the cosmere has more than enough secrets for now though.
  13. Welcome to the funhouse! Just be careful poking around the forums since there are plenty of spoilers. Good luck and have fun.
  14. Really nice, the snow effect on mountains in particular! Wish I could see it in an ever bigger size.
  15. 1) "Meddle" may have been a strong word, but Autonomy definitely planet hops and makes avatars all over the place. 2) Thanks for reminding me about Taldain! (I honestly forget about it sometimes). I've only read the script version of White Sand from the AU, but....that section was a literal survival test. And I would argue (simply because it's my theory ), that the Avatar itself is the test. Whether that is a place, person, or an object is irrelevant. 3) This is honestly what fueled this theory. Nightblood is just......so, so weird. People have asked so many questions and Brandon is still pretty evasive, so I'm thinking it must be something more unusual than a "simple" one of a kind awakened metal. I thought red was Odium's shtick. No idea how/why that could or would relate to the Set and things happening on Scadrial though, so I could be totally off base. Maybe Odium and Autonomy share a color? Autonomy has been jeopardized/allied with Odium? I'm getting off topic with lots of speculation? If Autonomy's color was black through...mmm I could push some things like Taldain's black sand, but I think it'd be a stretch. :/ Why thank you!
  16. Pure speculation, fuel it or shred it: Nightblood is an Avatar of Autonomy. (or a part/failed avatar?) I mean, if we can have some sort of semi sentient island (Patji), why not everyone's favorite sword? 1) From what I understand, Bavadin's not shy about meddling on other Shard's worlds. 2) Autonomy seems to have a sort of "can you survive this test" aspect (Patji and also mentioned in OB letter to Cephandrius) that I think definitely applies to wielding Nightblood. 3) Nightblood was not what the Scholars intended to make, or rather, what Nightblood is was beyond the abilities/understanding of the Scholars to make.
  17. Thank ye kindly, however, I'm not big into social media. I actually haven't checked into facebook in....uhhhhh....months? Maybe a year? ^_^;
  18. So Hoid: Which struck me as curiously similar to when good person facing Nightblood feels overwhelming nausea, to the point of shaking and vomiting. I can't really make any why/how hypothesis from this, other than wondering if there is a connection. Scenario 1: person's intentions (good) cause them to sicken when presented with a tool of violence (Nightblood) Scenario 2: Hoid's intentions (violent) cause him to sicken Could............this mean Hoid's inability to cause physical harm is a result of him being a good person?
  19. Thanks for the WoB! I'm more interested in the vessel themselves, however. Does it work like Ascension, where the individual rejoins the physical realm fairly normal, except with an expanded understanding of the universe and expanded soul?
  20. Overall design? I agree, particularly the helm. But I also agree with what people are saying about added bulk. I think it should look less like "I'm wrapped in metal" and more like "I'm in a mech suit", even more so than Iron Man. This bulk: https://assets.vg247.com/current//2013/09/1379316716-heavy-soldier.jpg, but with the shardplate aesthetics/design. I don't do much cosplaying, but I think anything that adds your height (like thickening the shoe bottoms) would also be awesome.
  21. I think Intent is going to play a big part in abilities. I mean, I don't think Shallan could start shooting out gamma rays or radiowaves, as she doesn't have a clue what they are or what they are capable of. Radiation, understood as heat waves, I'd say is an iffy maybe. This sounds more like a Dustbringer ability, however. I think if Lightweavers did utilize heat it would be more to create mirage effects, which they could already do by directly manipulating the light waves.
  22. I never really made a connection between Nalt and Nalthis since I pronounce the "a" differently, but it's interesting.
  23. I'll stick a decal on my car! I rather like the "17" icon with the shard behind it, both the colors and font choices.
