There's been topics about this sort of thing before, but I don't think we really reached a solid conclusion. 1) Kal has a lot of natural talent. He's a spear genius. 2) Because he will be a spear master, he has always had an affinity for spears. This is the timey-wimey Spiritual connection that at lot of people frown at.

Also in the DC Universe how some people in world blame the superheroes for "creating" all the super villains, as they didn't appear until the forces of good were too strong. How would Hegel’s Dialectic work in a closed system? Or if there were no antithesis strong enough to actually undermine/clash with a thesis? Would the thesis itself eventually splinter? For example, could Harmony break back into Preservation/Ruin if no opposition arose to create a synthesis?

I haven't read White Sand, but.....Are these humans native to Taldain? If not, could people have settled into areas that didn't necessarily fit their initial biological adaptations? That WoB is super unsatisfying. Sure there are deviations and mutations, but it seems highly unlikely that genetics would play out that way for one group, let alone for two groups of people.

These sort of sales are what got me started in the cosmere. I was like, "Oh hey this book (tWoK) is really cheap on kindle....holy crap it has a lot of 5 star reviews." Never looked back. Probably because I can't, as my nose is now permanently shoved in a book. No regrets.

It might vary by spren type, but I think it's very possible. I think if Kaladin thought of Syl as wrapping around him in a shard-layer she'd be able to do it. The only thing that might prevent it would be the restrictions of Plate being something obtained by the 4th Oath. Syl may not be able to step into a role that is specifically reserved.
