Her hair is wrong. She's a fighter. Her hair is either going to be much shorter, or tied back where it won't get in the way I know from experience - you can't do anything vaguely work-related with hair waving about like that!

I feel mean for thinking this - sorry Reckoners fans, but I'm way more excited for this book than I was for more Reckoners books

Dang, I need to check out Arcanum Unbounded again. I skipped the White Sand stuff because I thought it was just the same as the graphic novel/prose version.

I've now read parts 1 and 2 of the comic, and then I read the prose version. Wow he broke Eric and then didn't even try to sort things out D: I definitely preferred the prose version, although I liked the gender-swapping of Ais. The graphic novel version - it was hard to tell what was happening sometimes. The bit where a kid tries to pick his pocket, and there are movement lines - I could not tell whether Kenton was using sand-bending to get his pouch back, or the pick-pocket was throwing it. The sandmaster costumes weren't unique enough in the comic. There's a scene where Kenton talks about having changed into something else, and I'm peering at the image trying to see it. Then the scene where he goes to the Hall in front of all the other profession heads, and they're all wearing the same white robes as well, that was pretty confusing. I liked the style of the last chapter art more than the other art, but yeah, pretty jarring change! Kriss in the comic was annoying. She just seemed like a spoilt brat...I mean, even more spoilt bratty than in the prose version. Probably a part of that was the sunglasses, which have modern implications of looking like someone who thinks they're oh-so-cool, and the clothes that looked like a night-dress...maybe if the glasses had looked more like goggles, she would have seemed a bit less aloof? I dunno. WHY DIDN'T KENTON TRY AND FIX ERIC? WAAAA!

It kind of bothers me that on one hand you don't want people to spoil some books for you... on the other hand you're asking people to say a phrase that they'll only say if they HAVEN'T read a certain book, and it's a little bit of a spoiler to explain what the phrase is about.

You monster! ...although, in a pinch, I believe any of Stormlight would make a good self-defensive tool! But I'd only consider this under VERY extreme circumstances!

They also have a sideline in the latest modern technology! *giggles* Great quality stuff. All the schools I went to had this brand. They did wonderful renditions of the sky above Chiba City in an alternate future! *runs and hides*

I agree with the people above. Rithmatist was my favourite of non-Cosmere. Mistborn is a nice long, juicy and COMPLETE trilogy. Look out for people who want to feed you dodgy cookies, or get you to repeat certain words! Don't do it.

Ni hao! Are you going to read any of the non-cosmere things? My personal recommendations are The Rithmatist (if you enjoy a Harry Potter-esque kind of story), and the novellas Perfect State, Legion series, and short stories Firstborn and Defending Elysium. PS, have you read the unpublished Cosmere novels?

Hey guys, So I've been slowly listening through the Writing Excuses series. I was just looking at the ebooks that were recently added to my library, and I saw this cover Note, the title of this book is "Burden of Proof"...the "JAG IN SPACE" line is just a descriptor. It reminded me of an early episode where the team were talking about cross-genre (I think) and someone mentioned a book that one of their friends had written that was about lawyers in space, described as "JAG in Space", but I can't find the episode in question, and I wonder if anyone remembers if this is the same author? The giant descriptor, bigger than the title did make me quite a bit! EDIT: never mind, found it. S03E07. It is the same author they talk about. It's a great tag-line.

Personally I didn't enjoy Alcatraz very much. But I found The Rithmatist extremely enjoyable, so for me it's just that writing style that I don't enjoy rather than the age of the target audience.

These languages do have dipthongs also. "ai" - pronounced as eye being a common one that's used here. Au is another, pronounced kind of like "ahw". Think Maui, it's Mahw-ee, not Mah-ooh-ee Edit: another "Ei" pronounced ey. Hei-hei is hey-hey, not Heh-ee-heh-ee Edit edit: you can sometimes pick the dipthongs from the double vowels by the lack of the apostrophe to indicate glottal stop.

That's weird. It reads like it's based on Polynesian language family. If so it should be as Calderis typed it.
