  1. Wasn't it in Mistborn where we were told the Shards cannot directly influence anything however they can indirectly do so? I cannot remember the exact quote but I know that they basically turned events to influence others to do their willing.
  2. You're missing out on a fantastic trilogy if you don't read Era 1 and Era 2 is after this for a reason. Read Era 1 first, if you don't like it then even read a summary and start Era 2 but I would hold off. Era 1 was the first work from Sanderson I read and it got me into the Cosmere as a whole. DON'T miss out on that opportunity!
  3. It's a pretty solid theory, number 1, but I'm not sure if Sanderson would introduce another manipulative force that is controlling them. He has built up Ruin and Odium to be big bads in their own series and to have that knocked away and another force being behind it all might not be manageable. I like the theory though and I'm not against the idea that there are others involved. Passion appears a lot in Oathbringer with the Thaylens too so I wonder if there is something deeper involved.
  4. Thanks for the response. I think it's enough to get me interested or to give it a try at least so i'll see how it fares The Dune and Name of the Wind references are enough for me!
  5. I can't find anything with the search bar so my apologies but has anyone read Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio? Looks to be a cross between Science Fiction and Fantasy in the essence of Dune? First in a planned series that was released in the last few months. It's got good reviews and I have it ordered but just wondered what anyone's thoughts are if they have read it?
  6. I always appreciate people's thoughts and theories with things like this and encourage it however I agree that the OP might also think that Stormlight Archive, although can be read self-contained, is not related to any further Cosmere stories. I disagree with a few points, Dalinar dying, Tranquiline Halls, etc but previous posts indicate my own thoughts also. I'd recommend reading the books a further time and also the other Cosmere stories and novellas. My apologies if this is not the case but I do encourage you to continue speculating since there are a good few points that, once ironed out, may actually be pretty interesting
  7. Yeah the rest can be played for hoooours but I'm not getting that from FF IV.
  8. I remember reading Earthsea and blasting through it. Wondering how Le Guin managed to fit so much world-building and atmosphere into one tiny little book. I read Lord of The Rings and Mistborn from there, moving onto Kingkiller, Malazan and later Wheel of Time. It's such a wide genre that can only be appreciated when you really look at the finer points but can still be enjoyed as a casual reader.
  9. Recently just pulled out my old PS2 and DS. I've managed to find Breath Of Fire IV, Final Fantasy IV, VIII, VIII, IX, X and XII, Drakengard, Legend of Gaia, Unlimited Saga and have NO idea what I should play! Might start FF IV on my DS again since it's the remake.
  10. It's a good theory and might be a little too coincidental to be anyone else.
  11. In the sense that she is portraying multiple versions of herself and not telling everyone then yes, she is a liar. She toyed with the thought of telling Adolin in OB when they fought Re-Shepir but decided against it because it would give up her identity which could hurt future goals. She seems to withhold information that she thinks will benefit her in the future which in cases like this does appear to be okay.
  12. Hoid manipulating the visions would be such a turning point since Dalinar is placing people in the visions also. Might say how each vision is slightly different.
  13. I did read SH so now I don't feel as much out the loop. Best give these another read through
  14. Thanks to both you and @ScarletSabre. I'll pick it up and try and give it a read
  15. Thanks very much, i'll have a look at those. Feel like I still have a biiiiig hole in my Sanderson-knowledge
  16. I'm intrigued to see how this all started and what the motivation was (unless I've completely missed this somewhere) to actually shatter Adolnasium and the true intents and purposes of the whole Cosmere. Now that I've caught up with the books it's a painful wait for the next one without having another to fall back on!
  17. Thanks, I might give those series a try after I finish Oathbringer. The magic systems are something that keep me intrigued but I just could not get into Reckoners and I have no idea why haha.
  18. Fairly new to everything outside of the Cosmere so excited to find out more information. I've read half of Steelheart but could not get into it at all. This was after reading Stormlight though.
  19. Does it seem that Dalinar will take up such an important role? Other that "Unite Them" I can't see any other hints to this (Although I've only read the SA once, reread currently undergoing). It would be a great concept and would add to an endgame and a total epic showdown there are still 7 books to go through.
  20. The more the better, I say!
  21. Is there a mention on how many Mistborn books there will be. I know Stormlight has been announced as 10. Or even any other series for that matter.
  22. I do wish to see more backstory between Hoid and whatever, he is such a Wit-ty character and now that Mistborn is at the end of this next Era and SA will be moving on from our current characters, i'll be needing more of these style of characters to blow my damnation mind.
  23. I agree with @Rhapsody. Adolin really does embody some of his father and Shallan that I think he was be too "good" to became Odiums champion and that would not be a twist that goes down well. I agree that the champion either needs to be introduced or we see something changed in someone to point to this happening but Adolin also holds such high Honor for the ideals that this would be too heartbreaking.
