  1. I don't understand your question. What rejection are you talking about? Rejecting the values of the Final Empire - certainly, that was a slave state run by a bloody autocratic ruler.
  2. I was almost certain that no Venture survived Catacendre but apparently there was one drunk head Venture mentioned in Era 2. And that's all we have. The Coppermind page abvlut Vin starts with: She married Elend so the claim is pretty solid.
  3. We don't know. Certainly no Allomancy. I'm pretty sure it was said somewhere it's a steel spike but can't find it. My personal theory is that this spike grants no ability nor does it contain anything at all, rather a person performing the spiking dragged Kelsier's soul into the Mistwraith's body and it just stamples them together. The spike is empty in my opinion. But we have only speculations.
  4. That's not really true. God Metals are condensed power of a Shard, regular metals aren't. God metals are pure investiture in a physical, solid form. A Mistborn doesn't get power from the metal itself, but the metal is the keyhole for the power coming from SR. Base 16 metals plus silver have special effects on investiture but why? It's because of spiritual properties of metals that might even predate the Shattering. There is not much information about it in general so you don't really lack anything important. Silver and aluminum are currently the most significant and we'll known metals with those effect in Cosmere, rest are slowly discovered like steel or iron. But you should expect all metals from Metallic Arts to have those effects, plus silver and possibly all god metals too. But God metals are their own category.
  5. Just like that? No. Just like in PR, you need a big concentration of mass or investiture in CR or PR to cause a time dilation. Normal distortion of CR compared to PR is caused by thoughts of people and mind concentration in PR - a desolate, unknonwn desert won't have big presence in CR while a huge city will. There is no time dilation because of space distortion in CR based on lack of thoughts. SH spoiler WoB:
  6. Have you read Warbreaker? Spoilers: The Allomantic and Feruchemical abilities are part of your spiritual DNA, not your body - it's your spirit that gives you those powers. This means a person who never was a Metalborn, can't become one by taking over a Metalborn's body Kelsier style. Why Kelsier can't use Allomancy which is a part of his Spiritual DNA? We don't know. I suspect that is because he still doesn't have a real body. He only has a hijacked body, which likely doesn't match his Identity and probably has still Mistwraith's spirit attached to it - that thing still lives (most likely). This is more like a possession than Kelsier's real body, and it doesn't count for Kelsier's spirit.
  7. Correction, they believe the One split into all people, not only Iriali, not only humans. Or at least the One split into the Many, and Iriali sometimes debate who is part of the One as well, most think all are. I give you credits, Wisdom Shard fits with the One who "knew all but experienced nothing." But here is my problem with this idea. Shard's power is infinite. If one were to Splinter itself into so many people fully, then those people would be ridiculously invested, so much it would be very recognisable (just look at Returned, Splinters of Endowment). That's basically impossible for a Shard to Splinter itself fully into Iriali people like that. If the Shard were to Splinter only a part of itself into Iriali, then they wouldn't be so invested, they wouldn't be that recognisable. But this Shard would still exist, be strong and still have practically infinite power. That's Preservation and Endowment for you. This is precisely what these two did. Odium, Cultivation and Honor did the same with Splinters on Roshar - Spren. Thus the religious core of Iriali, that there was the One but it's no longer, doesn't fit. This Shard would still exist with no problems. We already have examples of Shards splitting their essence into people, creating humanity and Splintering themselves into millions, and yet they are still well, functioning and powerful, with almost infinite power. This doesn't fit with the One.
  8. Are they of Ruin? They were made by Rashek to betray Ruin, they consider themselves of Preservation and TenSoon is Harmony's Preservation. They don't kill, don't destroy, don't ruin. Sure they have Hemalurgic spikes, but that doesn't mean they're of Ruin. Their choices define their allegiance. I think it's simply an intent problem. Wax spit Harmonium while thinking that if he were to get Atium or Lerasium, that wouldn't change anything about him - he was Preserving himself. Kandra most likely didn't have that intent. TLM ch 15:
  9. Unmaking kills a spren. Remaking (?) would still kill an Unmade. Unmaking seems to be different from creating CS. During the proces of creating a CS, a soul is flushed with investiture which replaces a soul and a cognitive aspect of a person, leaving a kind of fossil behind. Some argue that the original soul still went to the Beyond and died, leaving a copy behind. But this CS is feeding on the power of the Shard (for stronger CS - RoW ch 15 or 16 with Vasher explaining things), and they are sustained by a Connection to PR or SR (RoW ch 92 epigraph). I don't think Unmaking is the same process that creates CS. Unmaking is more similar to Command Breaking. Unmaking seems like twisting and corrupting a soul until it no longer is the same, thus that entity is killed. Creating a CS just "copy" a soul with a lot of investiture. Therefore I don't think you can Remake a CS - this would simply kill them either entirely, with their soul slipping into the Beyond leaving nothing behind (just like what happened with Jez), or twisting their soul until it no longer is that person, replacing Connections that sustain them with new ones. But an Unmade can definitely be Remade, which would still kill them, but a new entity would be born. This can be interesting for non-sapient Unmades (like Thrill - affecting people's loyalty if it would still function in the same way after Remaking with Honor's investiture), but I wouldn't do that to someone like Sja-Anat, who is her own person, in rebellion against Odium.
  10. A Shard's power is practically infinite. To make enough anti-investiture to kill or seriously harm the entire Shard you would need a ridiculous amount of anti-investiture. At best you might be able to make enough to kill Shard's Vessel, just like Nightblood did. But you want to make an entire anti-Shard, so that requires you to make a practically infinite amount of anti-investiture - do you see a problem here? Secondly, a Shard exists primarily in SR, where space and time are one. Anti-Shard would have to exit there as well, and "share the same space" with all investiture of other Shards (with which it can still interact destructively per WoB quoted in one of the posts of mine above). I see it very likely that any anti-investiture in SR would just annihilate with investiture there, so it would be impossible for anti-Shard to even exist. But that's my opinion, not something confirmed. Either way, creating that much anti-investiture to make a Shard is beyond mortal abilities and such entity would constantly interact with other Shards and other investiture when it tries to do something thus it would keeps getting smaller and smaller. That anti-investiture would eventually return as investiture of its original Shard and all would be back to normal.
  11. For Allomancy, I think A-pewter wins - it enhances so many different physical attributes of your body that it's probably the most versatile Allomantic metal. It boosts your strength, speed, balance, endurance and temperature sensitivity. It makes you heal faster and ignore certain wounds - even deadly wounds need more time to kill you, giving you a better chance of finding help. It also increases your alcohol and toxin tolerance. It's just great. It's hard to choose the most useful Feruchemical power for a Twinborn, because there are many and it depends on the person. F-gold in general is a great choice and it would have a great synergy with A-pewter. F-steel is great but it's mostly situational. F-duralumin is very versatile, with lots of hidden possibilities. It's also handy for social situations. F-tin will improve your quality of life, but I have a soft spot for F-zinc. Being able to think faster, analyze situations faster and come up with better and more logical solutions and conclusions will help you all the time, from social interactions, work to your daily routine. For me it's A-pewter and F-zinc. Brain and brawn!
  12. That's not anti-investiture, Dakhor monks draw from the same Dor that Elantrians draw. That's simply something like a leeching ability, that Leechers on Scadrial have or Larkins on Roshar. Elantrians can do the same.
  13. How? It only takes his mother to say no and he won't agree. He needs to be a willing champion and he has no reasons to do that. Voidspren can't just bond him - it took months of preparation, growing hatred and desperation and a physical manifestation of Thrill to bond Voidspren with humans during the OB battle. With Oroden there is none of that. He is a happy, loved kid, with no issues (hopefully forever). Gavinor, Elhokar's son, at least has a reason and strong feelings attached to it - avenge his father's death. He hates Moash. I'm still not a fan of the child-champion theory. It's a big let down in my opinion.
  14. Warship is a broad term, it includes every class of ship built for naval warfare. So calling it just a warship is a right thing to do, as we don't know its class - but it is still a warship. I really don't see your point here - we both recognize it as a warship. True, that's why I said is an assumption. Yes, this type/class. We don't know what it is, but it's still a warship. That's why we can make a page for "Malwish warship" and in it just say "one unknown class of Malwish warship was a ship on which admiral Daal came to Elendel in the year xxx" or something like that. We don't need to describe every Malwish warship in general, as we don't know any of them, but just this one as one of Malwish warships. But we don't even know its name or its current captain, and calling it "admiral Daal's former warship" is just bad in my opinion. I would never think of searching it by this term. "Malwish warship" - much sooner, even if it's a very general term. ”Daal's warship” is still better but that's no longer its true ownership. But it still belongs to Malwish so going a step up in the “ownership ladder” feels right to me. Or make a page for all "Malwish/Scadrian airships" and in it make each ship have its own sub-section. But then again, how do you call this ship's sub-section? I would still call it just "Malwish warship" as this is the only one warship known to us currently. We can easily start describing it with "the only known Malwish warship..." It will be expanded in the future, adding more sub-sections when new warships will be introduced. We know 4 ships now (including the little ones") so there might be enough for this general page. What do you call Hunter's ship from BoM? Just a Hunter's ship. We have no problems with calling it generally like that, even if it's old and we don't know either its name or its class. I'm just not a fan of going overly detailed when we lack those details we need. Speaking in general is sometimes fine.
  15. Why not just "Malwiah warship"? Sure, it used to belong to Daal, but it no longer does - it wasn't even Daal's ship when it appeared in TLM. It wasn't the first time a Malwish warship arrived (ch 9) and it was easily recognized by Wax. While it's an assumption, it's fair to say that most Malwiah warships of this type would look more or less the same, thus we can just place them all on one page.
  16. Oh, those Epochs. Thanks. Would they be still seen as demigods? We don't know when Radiants appeared for the fist time and when they were formalized into orders. But during the first Desolations Heralds were able to last for hundreds of years before breaking. So at worst Radiants would be present since previous Desolation, at best much earlier for hundreds of years. That's a lot of time for people to get accustomed to them. Not to mention Senne is writing this with a more scientific approach. She not only describes their powers and roles, but focuses on personalities - that means she had to know many Radiants of all orders personally. When that happens they stop being that mistic and divine in your eyes.
  17. Yes, but some of those things were exaggerations. He was called a Sliver even in the Final Empire (in the book). People just didn't know what it meant. Hey, it's great when you have to wait for your appointment with a doctor! Well, Sazed in the Words of Founding did paint him in a slightly better light, during WoA or HoA there were still people worshiping him and waiting for his return. Yes, he was a terrible oppressor, but he still cared about his people survival, devised a plan to deceive Ruin, hid Atium from him and prepared Kandra to be his double agents. Not to mention storage caves for people to hide. His plans saved the world. Glad to hear that. If you want to read some WoBs where Brandon explains Compounding:
  18. Cutting Harmonium into two halves with Trellium - it's not a chemical reaction caused by the repulsive property of Trellium. The quote specifically said "turning investiture or matter into energy" - which is fission/fusion (and annihilation too). But here fission is a more similar reaction - there were not only Harmonium leftovers but also Atium/Lerasium products. I just protested the use of the word "annihilate" in the context of Harmonium because that implies matter-antimatter (or in Cosmere investiture anti-investiture) reaction. Just "react in the similar way as investiture anti-investiture" is totally fine - they both explode. Just a little bit of nitpicking. Yes, that phrasing is totally fine and correct. I couldn't find a quote which said it, but on the Coppermind is said: Thus it might be that anti-light not only glows like normal light (as proven by the quote in my previous post) but warps space around it, kind of like a mini black hole, which sucks light passing by into the sphere, into the SR. That's the only way I can think of to explain the warping and "drawing light." It doesn't make much sense for it to emit and consume light at the same time, but it makes sense for inverted light to suck in light instead of glowing. Alternatively, now I think about it, the warping of air might be cause by imperfect gemstone leaking anti-light. So it's not the part of the glow, it's just investiture getting out of the gemstone. In a perfect gemstone there would be no warping if that was true.
  19. But the body changes and twists. Brain wraps around spikes in the eyes, heart shifts etc. There is a physical change, HoA ch 41: The body changes because the spirit web was altered and twisted and the body tries to match those changes. Spikes are still in the body, they don't "fuzz out". They just hold a piece of a spirit web which isn't physical but spiritual, thus there is no need for any "fuzzing out." I don't think that's who Discord will be, TFE ch 8: The Cold War is starting on Scadrial. Discord would be more involved in aiding and giving knowledge to people in my opinion, not encouraging people to fight with each other. But it's likely Discord will encourage the use of Hemalurgy, even if Sazed doesn't like that. However what will happen with limits on Hemalurgy if Harmony changes to Discord? Will they disappear? Change? Shift back like they used to be before Harmony?
  20. She said she is a brand new apprentice, I wouldn't expect her to be that Senna, who probably is someone pre-Shattering. But when does she write this? When is "6th Epoth, year 31?" Sigzil calls him "Master Hoid" too, OB ch 35 So that sounds like Senne is native to Roshar just like Sig is. I disagree that she is unfamiliar with Radiants, at least more than others in current times - she doesn't like Windrunners for some reason. This dislike seems to be developed through interactions with Radiants, at least in my opinion.
  21. I kind of agree but we have not much information about non-Metallic Arts effects. Steel in Fabrials repels - that's it. Steel in contact with Aethers pushes it away - that's it. The description is complete. Only Metallic Arts have a lot to add, and because metal effects were mostly visible in the Mistborn series, that's why pages start with Metallic Arts in the first general description section. This "Mistborn-centrism" is the most visible in the aluminum page - its initial introduction is almost all about Metallic Arts, despite having lots of information from all over Cosmere, especially on Roshar. But aluminum is an expectation in terms of available information and effects we can describe. I see two options - either leave it as it in most metal pages and wait for more information, or just delete the Metallic Art from the first section, leaving just this: I don't think we should squeeze in this first part a few sentences about how steel works on other worlds, because that would repeat the same information almost word to word. But on the other hand the description of steel in Allomancy or Feruchemy is so vast, that it's good to have a shortened description at the very top. While we nerds know perfectly well what steel does, some less-invested fans would benefit from having a short description of steel in Metallic Arts in the first top section, just to remind themselves what steel does without needing to read the wall of text below. There is an argument for leaving it as it is - it's helpful. However the change is necessary for the aluminum page. It's needlessly "Mistborn-centric." I would add Scadrial to the "Around the Cosmere" section below and place this there instead (I'm sure there would be more in the future about Aluminum on Scadrial and adding all of that into the top section is just messy): And at the top I would add some short description that aluminum in general resists being invested and affected by investiture. It has a field effect. It can't be cut with a Shardblade nor can it be Soulcast. In Fabrials it's used to block the effect of a Fabrial in a certain direction (or whatever it does). Keep it short, keep it basic. But I would avoid including information from places like Lumar or Sel, where there is just a single sentence of description - that would be just repeating the same information. The part "Aluminum has been confirmed to have strange effects to all magic systems, is magically inert, and will act as an Investiture sink.] already informs us that there is more to look for down below.
  22. Corruption is mixing of Shards' powers which changed things: I would say corrupted investiture isn't the same as mixing Investiture like Navani and Raboniel did. They did it by aligning tones of both investitures, which brought them together in harmony. Corruption is more like what happened with Unmaking the Sibling - forcefully pushing foreign investiture until it forces changes. But this is not something we have a clear and definite answer.
  23. This: Voidlight reacting with Anti-Voidlight will generate a big explosion, Voidlight will still react with Anti-Stormlight. Which is like fission, not annihilation. Matter/investiture turning into energy like when atoms are split. There is no annihilation here happening. There is no anti-investiture reacting with investiture. I may have gone overboard with my attempts to explain it in more detail (bonds into energy). Interesting. I think Anti-light is still "screwed" into their respective Shards, but because their tone is inverted, they also suck the light into SR and not just emit it. Anti-Voidlight still glows as Voidlight, but has this faint warping around it. RoW ch 16:
  24. Yes, CR will grow, but it won't be that big of a difference: Riina's spaceship, based on the image in Tress, looked like a typical thrust rocket. SotD2 spoilers (you can read it here): But that's how they make it off the planet, not between stars. I suspect that the Mistborn FTL engine will work like Alcubierre Drive (warp drive), using A-cadmium and A-bendalloy to warp spacetime around the spaceship and achieve FTL.
  25. A spirit web is made out of investiture too: Yes, Atiumminds for example. Technically yes, practically no. It's like Awakening a Shardblade, it already is "Awaken" but with enough investiture you can do that. Atiumminds might be a black swan because either they're not pure Atium (but an alloy), or Feruchemy deals with so little investiture that the system can squeeze in that extra investiture into the god metal. But just like with other metalminds, there is still a limit of how much investiture you can add to Atiumminds. It might be just the nature of Feruchemy that easily allows to invest god metals, unlike any other invested art, which is not an explanation in the context of this topic. It's flat, like a table-flat flat. I think. But there is local elevation and that combined with perspective, makes the horizon . There is some distortion too. I would say it's infinitely flat, it doesn't have any edge, it's not like a table, but like our universe, which is also flat. But unlike our universe, CR is more or less on one plane. That's it for my contribution to this fascinating topic. I'm not smart enough to add more.
