  1. That's the RoW map, this map corresponds to the region of Tukar, Emul and Azir (not Aimia). This can't be the Grand Knell, because the Azish gate is just a few degrees off (truthfully, nearly a full circle measured clockwise) the direction towards that location, while Drehy said they have to travel 48 degrees off. It doesn't match. WaT ch 7: WaT ch 11: RoW map:
  2. I think his clothes were already Awakened to protect him or something like that and now, sensing his distress, they are trying to do something about it. He most definitely doesn't have the 10th Heightening, we've seen him Awaken verbally in OB epilogue. Also in this epilogue he willingly gave up some of his Breaths forever, so he probably has to have more Breaths hidden in some Awakened object, just in case he wants to do something like that. I've never seen such WoB before. Hoid doesn't know how to Awaken with Stormlight. If he can't do that with Stormlight, I doubt he knows how to do that with other types of investiture.
  3. Oooo, I've missed it. That's a great observation. It seems that the incoming storm will be quite a struggle. Such a cool detail.
  4. Shards' bodies are their physical investiture, not a human body. When a Vessel Ascends, their body is vaporized by the power and it stop existing. However a dead Shard drops their Vessel's body because there are some remnants of it in the power itself and the power reconstructs this body and spits it out. But a Shard can manifest a physical body and that's most likely what Cultivation is doing right now, that's what Odium more or less did at the end of OB. You're right. This was because Kelsier was a Shadow without a body and he shouldn't have felt any pain - Kelsier felt it because of his self-perception (and yes, Hoid's perception matters here as well, Hoid views Kel as a bodiless ghost which can't be hurt with fists - and he is right). But in Kelsier's current state with a body, Hoid can't do it anymore. I think the same would apply to Cultivation - as long as this is a full physical manifestation of a human body, it can feel pain, it can be hurt and Hoid can't punch her. A cognitive manifestation on the other hand, something like Leras did when appearing after a person died, can be punched by Hoid - but because other people saw Cultivation, it's most likely a real body. SH ch 2-1:
  5. We have a WoB on this, the answer is no. Not the case. Shards didn't make an official Oath, just a "suggestion" and it was loose enough to allow them to settle together if all parties agreed to it. But here is a catch - Honor allowed Odium to settle on Roshar, what if by permanently imprisoning Odium in the system, Honor strained or broken this agreement, which weakened him enough to allow Odium to eventually Splinter him? However, if Honor straight up broke his word by doing so, Odium would have been freed and the chains binding him would disappear. So this might be related, but it wasn't a broken oath or a word - some loophole at most.
  6. There definitely is a division between Rosharan branch of Ghostbloods and the rest, they are doing things which Kelsier would never approved (like selling Lift to Fused) so it seems like they are kind of on a verge of going rogue. I still think they both have the same goals (getting Stormlight off Roshar, capturing Kalak for Kelsier), but their ways of achieving it are way too drastic for Kelsier's liking.
  7. I hope Dalinar invites Cultivation for a breakfast, just to allow Lift to steal her food!
  8. We don't know what happened between the Sibling and Melishi. What we know is that shortly before the Recreance, the Sibling withdrew (either willingly or something not) and banished everyone from the Tower, shutting off the Oathgates. There were some concerns among Radiants about Unmades infiltrating Urithiru at this time and some other systems failed as well, which is a clue that something wrong was happening with the Sibling. Lastly, the Sibling and Melishi broke their bond (before the Recreance and before BAM was captured, which means it didn't result in the Sibling's death), but not before Melishi created a shield fabrial to protect them just in case. Then Mishram was imprisoned, the Sibling was wounded by this and couldn't hear their Tone, nor Honor's Tone anymore. The Recreance happened shortly after and ever since then the Sibling hated humans for it. All of this was also happening when Honor was dying, which probably contributed to the Sibling's state. But we have nothing that would explain what happened between them and Melishi, why the Sibling banished everyone from the Tower and what caused Urithiru to fail in the last days before the Recreance. Most of this information is from the Urithiru Gem Archive from OB epigraphs and from RoW quotes. It's likely that we might find out more in WaT now that Navani and the Sibling are bonded. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this. Edit: Well, possible but I don't think so. Singers were their enemies so any action taken against them wouldn't really matter for their bond and the Sibling broke their bond before Mishram was imprisoned and Parshmen were created. Nobody knew this would happen, so I doubt this was the cause of their problems. It may be something about spren because the Sibling is the bridge between humans and spren and if Melishi did something that worsen those relations it may cause their bond to deteriorate (but I doubt this would cause the Tower to fail). Edit2 (I really need to start to first read every post in the topic and then write my response): If you're interested in continuing this discussion, I recommend to continue it in the topic made by Treamayne.
  9. Keep in mind, what's in the books is filtered through the understanding of people. Kelsiar was taught to do this because Allomancers back then believed this to be true. Sure, remembering all canon information from WoBs might be hard, but that's why we are here to help each other out. Vast majority of WoBs are canon so this simply can't be avoided.
  10. Metal poisoning doesn't affect Allomancers, they are too different for this - Kelsier simply had no idea about this. Hoid can heal any damage done to him, including a Shardblade cut and a decapitation - metal poisoning won't do anything to him even if Allomancy wasn't protecting him from this.
  11. They only critically need Stormlight during a battle, before and after it they have plenty of it because of Highstorms. They aren't restricted by the amout of light (yet) but by the amount of gemstones. Having another infinite source of investiture gives them nothing if they don't have enough gemstones to make a difference. IF he considers this a harm. We did and you might be right. However this might mean that Hoid is constantly high on metals and has to drink them everyday to resupply himself (as they will eventually be expelled from his body) which is something he probably doesn't do (as evident by the flashback you've mentioned). But who knows him, maybe he's on high alert now because he found out Ghostbloods got to him or something.
  12. Odium is bound to the Rosharan system as a whole, not just to Braize. He certainly has a lesser ability to influence and act on Roshar outside of a Desolation (but he still can do that, he was with Dalinar all the time), but I don't think this would matter during a direct confrontation with Honor. Not really. Leras died thousands of years before Era 1 was happening - he constantly reminded Kelsier about this. He was already dead at that point, just not fully. The same happened with Honor - Honor's death took some time. Well, there was nobody to pick up the Shard, so Odium was able to Splinter it fully after killing its Vessel. Preservation was being Splintered when Kelsier Ascended and that prevented Ruin from finishing the job. SH ch 6-4: It transcends all realms.
  13. Singers should be able to do that, they have a perfect gemheart in them (or it works like a perfect gemstone).
  14. Oh yeah, I forgot about that... Most likely they do, even the Stormfather said to Dalinar in OB that he/they needs to say the words - 4th Ideal. No Bondsmith is on that level yet. I think Odium had 2 before "the Nightblood accident" and Dalinar and others simply don't know Nightblood consumes the soul itself so they still expect to see 2 of them. I hope that's the case, but if so why would they want to send the light outside of the Tower if it is just like Stormlight? Why would the Sibling say it's about human leakyness? They have Stormlight, a lot of Stormlight, they don't really need any new Towerlight - unless it does something else. That was my line of thought. However, it makes more sense if it's just as potent as Stormlight, but it's just unlimited. Or another option - small piercings. He can just burn everything that pierces his skin. While it's definitely possible he could power it with Towerlight, Metallic Arts were said to be harder to fuel by external sources. Unkeying Towerlight might be required, even for Hoid. I think it's hard to say how he powered his Allomancy at this moment.
  15. I was expecting interlude 3, but we’re sadly getting straight into Day 2. And wow, that’s a lot of PoV characters. Like, ALL of them. And that’s an interesting choice, the Way of Kings is back in the epigraphs. I wonder what’s inside - will we find the Words Gavilar missed? Oh yeah, definitely judging that the very first paragraphs were about Gavilar. Wit visiting other worlds at night? Was that literal or was that about him looking through his memories? How would he even do that within one night? The Jasnah part wasn’t anything new, almost exactly the same as the reading earlier. Fabrials aren’t invested enough to resist Allomancy (good to know for the incoming Roshar vs Scadrial ver 10.0 thread). I find it interesting that the Sibling was able to dictate the exact words of the contract between Dalinar and Odium - why them and how? Lifespren attracted to Navani?? That’s a surprise. I did think that each Bondsmith has its one type of platespren, but I thought Lifespren would be Nightwatcher’s spren, not the Siblings. Well, there is still a chance because many other types of spren are following Navani, but Lifespren seem to be dominating. The Towerlight itself is what makes Radiants super powerful, not the Sibling? So there probably is a way to use it outside of the Tower and make knights even more OP than they are. Did anybody tried to capture it in a perfect gemstone? I don’t really like this idea. Wow, the bond between the Sibling and Navani seems even deeper than that of Dalinar and the Stormfather. Navani is literally part of the Tower to the point that she doesn’t have to sleep. Is that because the Sibling is physically in the Physical Realm, like a Shardblade? If that’s the case, what would happen to Dalinar if the Stormfather were to be manifested as a Shardblade (like in OB but fully)? And it’s even more interesting that Navani can’t leave the Tower without weakening her bond - can’t an unchained Bondsmith change this and strengthen their bond? I hope not and that this and the Towerlight problems will remain as restricted as they are right now, despite Navani hoping to change this. Radiants are already way too OP compared to other Cosmere invested entities, making them virtually indestructible everywhere is too much. The second epigraph is interesting. Nohadon couldn’t understand their language, which means he either wasn’t a Bondsmith (if Radiants were even established back then and I think not, but there were Surgebinders), or was bonded to the Sibling. In the past Brandon RAFO’d questions about this, but said weirdness was involved (example) - the Sbibling might fit this weirdness. Adolin’s chapter, called Passionspren, in which Adolin expresses how he’s more angry at his father than before, with lots of emotion spren, including Passionspren, flying around Adolin. Foreshadowing? I think it's somewhat plausible that Adolin might be tricked or persuaded by TOdium to be his champion, or stand against Dalinar in some other way, this chapter worries me it might be true. But on the other hand Gavinor is having nightmares - TOdium’s doing or just regular nightmares due to his trauma? Another foreshadowing or are those all red herrings? Wait, both Thunderclasts? Does it mean Odium has ONLY two Thunderclasts? That’s disappointing, especially that one was fully killed by Nightblood in OB. Is that why only one was spotted? I like them, I want more of them, they are way cooler than Fused. Oh boy, Cultivation has not wasted ANY time after Taravangian pushed her away, she went straight to Dalinar in a human form. Was that a body she made, or a body she possessed? Will she tell him about Taravangian Ascending? Storms, that’s probably the first time in thousands of years when Cultivation intervened directly outside of the Valley - it has to be really bad to make her do this. I want more! I hate this cliffhanger! Three offensives. One from Shadesmer on Azir with some Heavenly Fused, second is the naval invasion on Thaylen supported by hundreds of Skybreakers, third with one thousand Fused and at least one Thunderclust aiming directly at the Shattered Plains. That’s a lot of Fused in total - and a lot of troops and planning needed to be done prior to all those attacks. This indicates to me that at least Azish and Thaylen attacks were planned by Rayse, Fused could have been moved fast enough by Taravangian without any logistics and preparation on the third new target, but I think it was still Rayse who planned all of this. And if that's all Rayse's doing, we still don't know what Taravangian's changes are. EDIT: I forgot, it’s surprising that Mraize is still in the Tower when Shallan is going to hunt him down, which should be super easy, barely an inconvenience - just ask the Sibling to find him. Unless he has a Smoker or his Aviar hides him, he should be spotted immediately.
  16. I have some problems with this theory. Firstly, when Odium arrived on Roshar, he most likely wasn't invested enough in the system to prevent him from leaving - he is now however. This most likely happened after the Recreance as the Sibling didn't recognize Odium's tone as one of the pure tones of Roshar, yet now everyone else, stones included, recognizes Odium as the true part of Roshar. Odium's investiture isn't just in one specific part of the system, it's everywhere. RoW ch 69: RoW ch 83: Secondly, the Everstorm came from Braize, not Ashyn. There is a barrier storm around Braize’s subastral and Odium splintered part of it and deliberately moved it to Roshar to cause the Everstorm. Listeners in Stormform were able to summon the Everstorm because it already was in, or very close to the Rosharan subastral. RoW ch 89: RoW ch 73: RoW ch 86: Thirdly, Odium being stuck on Braize is the same as being stuck on Roshar and Ashyn - he's bound to the entire system. Odium's imprisonment is greater than the Oathpact. Now there are two things that bind Odium to the Rosharan system. First one is Honor's chains, second is just investiture. In the long years of fighting against Honor and Cultivation, Odium slowly invested himself to the point that even if he were freed of Honor's restrains, he wouldn't be able to just leave Roshar - it most likely happened after Aharietiam and it might be related to Odium moving the Everstorm from Braize to Roshar. As for how exactly Honor bound Odium to Roshar, I think the simplest explanation is just by using an Oath. Odium was allowed to settle on Roshar by Honor and Cultivation and I wouldn't be surprised if in exchange Odium swore not to directly use his powers on any individuals. There probably was some kind of loophole used by Honor that bound Odium permanently to Roshar - like he can't leave unless Honor's agree to it, or something like this. If Dalinar's word is the only thing that can release Odium from Honor's bounds, this can't be some raw power being stuck somewhere, this can only be an Oath between Shards.
  17. Per WoBs provided earlier, true AI in Cosmere have a soul and is very similar to a spren. When cutting it with a Shardblade, the blade would behave like it was cutting a living person - it would blur and cut the soul directly, without physically damaging the machine body itself (while the damaged soul might cause some elements to stop working and be dead, just like when cutting a living tissue). You can most definitely kill the soul of an AI and thus kill the AI itself without physically cutting the computer it inhabits.
  18. It's hard to say. I can see this working, but it's worth noting that solid investiture is more resistant to anti-investiture (Raysium doesn't react with anti-Voidlight) and I think it might be more resilient to anti-tones as well (because it's solid). It probably would still end up with an explosion anyway because your anti-tones are doing the very same thing Trellium was doing.
  19. Yes, yes we do. They have a written language of some sort and it was shown to us in the very first interlude of WoR - however it was invented by Venli: She started to develop this form of writing around 8.5 years before RoW, RoW ch 52: And of course, ancient Singers and Dawnsingers had their own language - Dawnchant - which became a shared written language for all on Roshar in the ancient past and later evolved into modern writing systems and languages.

    Metals in body?

I think yes, as long as the blade and the ball aren't one piece of metal, connected under the handle (which I think usually is the case with knives). If they are, I think the simple perception trick that allows you to see an object as many pieces (Kelsier is doing this to spin rods, or Wax with bullets) might be enough for you to be able to push on the ball (but it may resist a little more, hard to say).
  21. It's the name for Rosharan subastral, but it's often used to mean Cognitive Realm in general, because this word just means Cognitive Realm.
  22. She was redhead at first (because Shallan didn't want Adolin to realize she was switching personas), but later Shallan changed it to make it recognisable for Kaladin and Adolin. OB ch 15: RoW ch 12: That certain Scholar is around 400 years old, the Royal line on Nalthis is 700 years old at best, while Chana is more than 7000 years old. It's kind of hard to be a father for someone older than you. Way too much kool-aid. How do we know this? The Manywar happened around 300 years before Warbreaker, the first Returned Vo Returned around 600 years before Warbreaker and the book itself takes only a few generations before WoK - let's assume at most 100 years. And of course, Kalak said in RoW 7000 years had passed since the first Desolation.
  23. Zahel joined Kholins way earlier, he was Adolin's teacher.
  24. Considering that Singers in a Warform, who also have a Nahel Bond with lesser spren, don't feel anything when touching a Shardblade, it seems you need to have a specific type of a Nahel Bond to hear the blades scream - a much deeper one. All mentioned above won't be enough.
  25. Hello, welcome to the Shard. Knowing how much Harmony is trying to suppress the knowledge of Hemalurgy on Scadrial alone, I don't think it will spread fast across the entirety of Cosmere. We can expect covert uses of it happening here and there more frequently by the Set, Ghostbloods or organizations like this, but for now I doubt it will become a common knowledge in the near future. Eventually it probably will, starting with Scadrial and then it will get only slightly more popular among worldhoppers. Breaths or the Dor are a common knowledge for anyone Cosmere aware, yet we don't see a lot of people Awakening or relaxing with a glass of Dor in their hand. Until the space era of Cosmere, I don't expect Hemalrugy to get super popular and common in Cosmere. Which means this is the prime time to spike people and get away with this Unless some Shard wishes for this - any Shard can gain a basic understanding of Hemalurgy and spread it among their people, if he only searches for this.
