  1. Thanks. I did read the chapters when it came out so, that was exactly want I wanted to know.
  2. This makes sense. How would this relate to Cultivation being better than Honor at seeing the future? Because it would seem to imply the opposite.
  3. Lord of the Rings
  4. Raoden, but his syntax would be so complicated only advanced Elantrians could understand it. Who would be a better friend, a Koloss or a nightmaw??
  5. @FiveLate You are correct. I was not precise in my wording. When I said the highstorms would come regularly, I meant that they would not stop coming, not that they would suddenly be consistent. So I was using regularly two different ways.
  6. I think he had just learned what works for controlling people and getting what he wants. I doubt he used the archer as an excuse to save the villagers. He had already killed the heir which was his prime bargaining chip, so he settled for the next best option. If the heir had been alive, I doubt things would have fared well for the village.
  7. I would just like to point out that this is speculation on Mr. T, not fact. Although, it's likely
  8. I should point out that my post was born out of @Calderis's theory that the Unmade are corrupted Dawnsingers.
  9. IIRC in WoK Dalinar says to himself that while Elhokar is motivated by revenge, Jasnah is motivated by questions. I think it's in the chapter where they chat via spanreed. Edit: then again, In Jasnah's PoV prologue she fully endorsed war against the Parshendi.
  10. We know that the Everstorm will make its circuit around the planet regularly, but I assume that highstorms will still come regularly as well. This could very well mean that another clash of storms could be on the horizon for Roshar (since they're moving in opposite directions at differing speeds), and that's a scary thought. Another question I had relates to the nature of the storm. We know a la Nale that Does the Everstorm also yield voidlight in the same way that the Stormfather is the pipeline to the SR that supplies stormlight? My gut says no, and I can't think of any evidence to support the idea. Just curious what other people's thoughts are.
  11. Bronze compounding Tarsier
  12. No, Dawnshards and Dawnsingers are distinct, although Brandon has yet to define them in any clear way.
  13. Well, isn't that what the Stormfather is (or was, before he absorbed Tanavast's cognitive shadow)?
  14. Alloy of Law Shadows of Self Bands of mourning
  15. This is pretty refined sounding, so my vote is with Sigzil
  16. Now that we know there are 9 Unmade for sure, I have an idea. @Calderis has put forth the idea several times that the Unmade could be corrupted Dawnsingers. Kabsal describes them as kindly spren who taught and benefited humanity in its infancy on Roshar, IIRC. If the Unmade are corrupted Dawnsingers, that leaves one left that is uncorrupted. And if the last Dawnsinger truly is an ancient, powerful spren, like the Unmade are described (just uncorrupted), then my idea makes sense. I propose that, if the Dawnsingers really are ancient and powerful spren, and if the Unmade are corrupted Dawnsingers, then the last intact Dawnsinger is likely to be the third Bondsmith spren. There ya go.
  17. @FiveLate So good to see you're back! I missed the puppy picture as well, by the way.
  18. And as we all know, symmetry is very significant on Roshar.
  19. @FiveLate One of the things I appreciate about your posts is the enthusiasm to discuss that comes across. Even though I'm fairly new here, I'll miss seeing you throw out your comments. They were always fun, gracious, and humble. I always looked forward to what you wrote. Hopefully we see you again before too long.
  20. Thanks! That clears up one issue. Now I'm just curious how much a rural village knows about shards...
  21. I was rereading WoK and I got to the first Dalinar vision, chapter 19. The woman who is his vision-wife (that sounds awkward) uses the phrase, "Three Gods, Heb" as an expression of awe at Dalinar's defense in the house. Now, that seems strange to me, since I didn't think that a random village would have knowledge of the shards on the world. Most shardworlds seem to have a very imperfect knowledge of their resident shards.. Is she referring to Honor, Cultivation, and Odium? It makes me think of the epigraph for WoK chapter 11, which states, “Three of sixteen ruled, but now the Broken One reigns.” I have an idea (not even an theory, and I don't really even believe it myself) that there was possibly a third shard on Roshar before Odium came. Almost definitely not, but these two things have me thinking, because it seems highly probable that they're connected. It's probably just referring to the three shards we know. anyway, I just thought I 'd throw this connection out there and see what people thought of it.
  22. I have a question about the visions. When they start cycling through again after Dalinar's last one in WoK, did they go in order? I think I remember in WoR that he said that sometimes he got old ones and some of them were new, and that the order wasn't the same. Is this accurate? Because if so, Gavilar and Dalinar may have each had only part of the picture.
