It's not that the power goes into the metalminds, but that the power is filtered into allomantic power when the metalmind is burned. You use the mechanics of allomancy to power feruchemy. Brandon has said that its essentially "making" a new allomantic metal. Edit: Found the sources- Source (#72) ANDREW THE GREAT What would happen if a person were to burn a metal that was Feruchemically charged using Allomancy? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) The metal used in Allomancy is like a key or a doorway to the power that Allomancy actually uses. The metal acts as a filter, much as the Aons in Elantris do, to determine what the power actually does. However, if the metal is Feruchemically charged, then it will basically become a super-burst of Feruchemical power with no Allomantic effect. The Feruchemical charge acts as a filter as well as the metal, and changes what the power does. in this case, say you were burning steel, you would just be massively speedy for a second, and wouldn't actually have the ability to push on anything Allomantically. Hope that answered the question. I get the concept, so if you need me to explain it differently, let me know and i'll try. Oh, the other thing I forgot is that this concept only works if it's a metal that you charged yourself. If it's a metal someone else charged, it would just work like regular Allomancy, and the Feruchemical charge would just cease to exist.

Thanks @maxal and @Calderis That was helpful. I didn't doubt it, but I guess I take things at face value pretty easily.

I think I missed this somewhere. Is this in the book, or did Brandon say this?

Do darkeyes feel the Thrill?
Crucible of Shards replied to Secret Ardent Man's topic in Stormlight Archive
Do we have any indication if regular Parshendi experience the Thrill? She had a voidspren bonded, so it makes sense for Stormform Parshendi to feel the Thrill, but what about those in Warform on the plateau runs? It seems like there are visible indications of when a person is under the influence. Adolin easily picked up on this with Eshonai. -
I think, especially with Urithiru as the headquarters for all the orders, it would be highly improbable that this wouldn't happen. I also think that there is a high likelihood that orders with vastly different oaths may have frequently experienced friction, such as the epigraph about the Windrunners and the Skybreakers gave an example of.

I'm pretty sure the only thing Division can't divide is an atom (or smaller). ...But I have no source.
-
We can invent a Division fabrial to keep spliting the hair until it's one atom wide.

I agree. However, I'm very interested to learn what all was going on with the Ghostbloods and her family, and the reasons why her mother wanted her dead.

Double hair splitting time. We have seen Jezrien for sure in the Oathpact breaking scene. So if neither of them are Jezrien, Brandon can still honestly say that we have seen Jezrien on-screen.

I've always been intrigued by the mad beggar in Axies' interlude. I think the idea of him being a herald is fun, but I don't think it has much more evidence than the beggar at the king's feast being a herald. If he is a herald, he would have to be Jezrien, because the other 4 male heralds are accounted for (unless Taln is not Taln).

Oh. My bad.

Well, just because he sought them out doesn't mean he actually became one, as the many, many Helaran theory threads will tell you.

IIRC I think she actually got to the final advancement, although I'm sure @The One Who Connects @Calderis or @Extesian could find the WoB

I recently started a thread about this very subject here. I'm not sure if it covers any additional ground, but Calderis had some good insights. My conclusion was that if everyone, including her siblings and servants were very ready to accept the proposition that Shallan's father killed his wife and her lover, (and dismiss Shallan's assertions of her father's innocence) then it is likely that he (and quite likely Shallan's mother) is the reason she was broken at such a relatively young age.

Huh. For some reason I always imagined it as the Chitauri scepter from the Avengers. This makes so much more sense.

Pai and the Sons of Honor
Crucible of Shards replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
When I read the interlude, Pai struck me as genuinely shocked by the extent of the corruption and depravity of not just the queen, but particularly the ardents who, in her words, are sycophants. Brandon makes it clear that she was aware of Aesudan having significant moral problems, but Pai seemed genuinely blindsided by the pervasiveness of the corruption in the palace. I always understood her to be genuine and nothing more than an ardent from the Devotary of Denial living out her personal code. -
odium A quick question about Odium.
Crucible of Shards replied to OscarTheSingingHobo's topic in Stormlight Archive
What interests me is the lack of conflict in the phrase "Three of sixteen ruled" It allows for a peaceful coexistence, which Odium is... not compatible with for an extended period of time. Interesting theory.- 16 replies

For all we know, she could have been integral in the Hierocracy corrupting the historical records.

Shadesmar more dangerous than physical realm?
Crucible of Shards replied to Watchcry's topic in Stormlight Archive
While the underlying surge manipulation is the same, I don't think comparing a magical machine to a person's precision with the surges is the most accurate. -
What really broke Shallan?
Crucible of Shards replied to Crucible of Shards's question in Cosmere Q&A
So after sleeping on the question, I have to say that I believe @Calderis is probably spot on about her parents being enough at a young age simply because just about everyone was very ready to believe that Shallan's father killed her mother and the other guy. her siblings are absolutely convinced, and dismiss Shallan's defense of her father's innocence. So I'm now willing to believe that her early childhood is cause enough for her to snap unless something new pops up.
