  1. Thanks, @The One Who Connects I can always count on you
  2. I always thought that when Hoid waltzed into the WoA chamber riding a dead body (Or mostly dead?) that it had something to do with the morbid origin of Threnodite perpendicularities. But I have no proof
  3. That makes sense, although I think resonance is a fan made term, so I don't know how much we can read into it. I was looking for a WoB stating that a Mistborn would not receive any, but I just can't find it. Maybe I was imagining.
  4. I was under the impression that resonances were only possible when one had a small amount of powers, like
  5. Ok, I agree that it wouldn't be the exact same trope; however, Connection to a Shard is something that Brandon takes seriously and there is definitely something unusual about both Kaladin and Dalinar in relation to the Stormfather. He explicitly calls Kaladin "Child of Tanavast." I don't think we can write that off as bein purely about his bond to an honorspren.
  6. Not gonna lie, I thought this was a thread about Sega Dreamcast when I saw it.
  7. Yes, but his Cognitive shadow merged with the Stormfather IIRC. Also, Dalinar's vision seem a bit similar
  8. @Sam Script is there some significance to the arrow pointing to the island on the map?
  9. Is there a significance to the arrow pointing to an island in the stencil of Roshar?
  10. We have seen the Ghostbloods and the Sons of Honor interacting. Why wouldn't the quote from the Diagram simply be mentioning another shadowy secret society and one of their influential leaders? We know that Mraize is a title, not a given name. So why assume the quote is focused on a worldhopper's worldhoppiness? The "implications" that open up the world to Mr. T could very well be the extent and power of a rival secret society, the breadth and power of which we have only a very small picture.
  11. That's one scary primape!
  12. Most people would consider hearing voices in their head a bad thing
  13. IIRC, their plan was have the God king get his wife pregnant unless they happened to find a newly returned infant before that happened, which they would then take as a sign from the Iridescent Tones that it was the right time for a new God king. I believe it is well explained in the annotations.
  14. Or most dangerous command ever...
  15. Per WoB, "Well, the Lord Ruler--don't forget--could compound any Allomancy he wanted." Did Brandon mean to say that TLR could compound Feruchemy, or is it true that TLR could compound alomancy? If so, would that be referring to Feruchemical Nicrosil usage? I'm a bit confused, because as far as I can remember we don't have a known mechanic to traditionally compound allomantic abilities.
  16. Yep, Brandon's explanation reveals that the plague is not as serious as Dalinar thinks. And speaking of Dalinar, it was really only hearsay of a plague. He didn't have any hard facts.
  17. Actually, Weiry Whether the plague on the Purelake has anything to do with the fact that the magic fish form symbiotic bonds with spren? Brandon Sanderson No. Worldhoppers brought a disease to Roshar that they didn't have before. It's the common cold. Rosharans' investiture makes it so they’re usually a healthy bunch so something like the cold is kind of frightening. "Its a plague of the sniffles”. Although, you're right. Obviously Bavadin
  18. Thanks for the additional insight, @Argent! An Unmade would make a lot of sense, especially since
  19. Ok, perhaps they just do not visibly appear in the physical realm. There is this- Chris King (Miyabi) And this is one of my side theories that I espouse here. Is that kind of similar to the reason why there are no spren in Shinovar is because the people there so disbelieve them that it creates a negative pressure that keeps them from physical manifestation? Brandon Sanderson Good question. Brandon does not correct the questioner who states that there are no spren in Shinovar. Not definitive, but it is an official answer from Brandon to a question that assumes there are no spren in Shinovar. Also, Nale says the Shin revere the spren of stones, but Shinovar is covered in soil, while the rest of Roshar (as far as we know) is bare rock. So they could theoretically revere the spren of stones which they do not come into contact with. There's still a whole lot we don't know about Shinovar.
  20. I was reading Axies's interlude because I've always enjoyed it and because I've always been suspicious of the beggar whose food city he accidentally crashes, and I noticed that Axies says two thing that may be of interest. When he first wakes up, his first thought is, "Blight it all," and later on he says, "...when you were very regularly robbed of everything you owned, it was blighted difficult to keep a proper notebook.” Now knowing how Sanderson's characters use language, and in particular in-world obscenities, such as "storming" (which appears very frequently in the Stormlight Archives) and "rusting/Rust and Ruin" in MB era 2, I think there is a reasonable amount of likelihood that to Aimians the terms "blight" and "blighted" have special significance. I can't recall any other characters using the term in the same way, although I don't have Edgedancer handy to check on a certain someone's dialogue. This is could possibly be related to the scourin of Aimia in some way, or perhaps not. Perhaps it's just a personal quirk of Axies. Or perhaps it's related to the Curse of Kind he references. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy my thoughts.
  21. Don't the books themselves say that there are no spren in Shinovar? (or at least that none appear) Or am I misremembering? I believe it's in Rysn's first Interlude.
  22. My thinking is that the second person would probably die before the point (haha, pun) at which the spike would be considered "in" them.
  23. There's actually a page for this on the Coppermind. Enjoy! http://coppermind.net/wiki/Spren
  24. I thought Brandon specifically said that TLR used hemalurgy to, I think, "pull off his most dramatic effects"
