  1. So what about how the Highstorms break when they get to Shin (or at least die down significantly)? Would that be relevant to the OP?
  2. I mean, if they have proximity-sensor fabrials which don't seem to corresond to any specific surge, why not have a separate mechanic for Shardplate?
  3. Well, just because we don't have a plausible alternative at the moment doesn't mean that Sanderson doesn't have something up his sleeve. For the record, I think you're very likely correct.
  4. I mean, that shard plate comes through the nahel bond?
  5. Has that been confirmed officially?
  6. I always assumed the Stormfather used the plural because Dalinar had already given away his plate to Renarin...
  7. I was under the impression that the Rhythms were in the Spiritual Realm since they appear to be location-independent. I also vaguely remember (?) a WoB saying something to that effect.
  8. I thought it was confirmed concerning the Surgebinding table? If not, I guess I really am jumping to conclusions based on hearsay
  9. To put it briefly, Cryptics are more of Cultivation than Honor, which explains the physical attributes and the references to nature. In addition, the order of Lightweavers have Shallash as their patron, and one of her associated attributes is honesty. Shallan's bond with Pattern strengthens as she becomes more honest with herself and admits the truth.
  10. I think it's worth mentioning that in Mr. T's interlude he mentions that he doesn't have the resources to take on an Unmade, presumably because it is so difficult/dangerous. In my opinion this supports the theory of the Unmade being the demigods, as well as Desolation giving Nale ample opportunity to meet and defeat multiple Unmade multiple times.
  11. The posts I was thinking about were in fact discussing the red mist and the identity of Trell. I hadn't considered Ambition being reformed, so thank you for bringing that possibility to my attention!
  12. So is Ambition actually dead? I though AU stated so, but people's comments now have me confused. Some people are postulating that Ambition is still involved in Cosmere events.
  13. Regarding Szeth's possible need for stormlight in order to sustain himself, we know that Vasher has a method of obtaining stormlight without a spren bond. So there is at least one viable way to intake the investiture he would theoretically need without a spren. Whether Nale is aware of this and able to relate this knowledge to Szeth is another thing entirely.
  14. I suppose that is possible, although we have no hard evidence that TLR stopped aging while holding the Well's power. I guess I was trying to emphasize that it is an inherent quality of breaths that endows agelessness, according to the Ars Arcanum, whereas Allomancy and Feruchemy require kinetic investiture to produce a similar effect
  15. I would also point out that the Lord Ruler held the power of the WoA (albeit for a brief period) and still had to use Atium compounding to maintain his youth, with a bounded limit as to how long he would be able to continue doing so. Holding a large amount of Breath enhances one's spark of life or vitality, and reaching the 5th Heightening is the milestone at which this effect is maximized. So I think agelessness is is a quirk specific to Awakening and Breath.
  16. I believe either Brandon or AU has confirmed that Braize, while cold on the Physical realm, I actually quite hot on the Cognitive side, which would connect to the Listeners' song quoted above.
  17. I was going to say that since you posted this on the Mistborn board, it's Marsh...
  18. So all of Roshar is oxygen-doping. Got it.
  19. It has also been confirmed that Roshar has a higher level of oxygen than earth. Could that potentially be a factor for why Rosharans age well?
  20. Maybe this is too simple of an answer, but if it could kill a full Elantrian, wouldn't it be enough to kill a Reod Elantrian?
  21. We all know how much enjoyment Hoid takes in dropping references to things his audience is not familiar with. It has always made me wonder why no one tries to pry further though. For instance, when he greets Jasnah as she returns to the physical realm, he says, “Oh,” Wit said, “I don’t mean the Almighty. Tanavast was a fine enough fellow—bought me drinks once—but he was not God.” He adds a bit more about where Jasnah should look to find evidence of God, but that's immaterial. My point is, Jasnah doesn't even blink at Hoid's quip about Tanavast. Now, maybe Jasnah is just not taking him seriously, as she seems to have some sort of history with the king's Wit. But there are multiple instances of Hoid making an off-hand remark (or a point-blank remark, as with Dalinar and asking if he had ever hear of the name Adonalsium), when no one seems interested in the bits of knowledge he lets drop. True, Dalinar asks Hoid who he really is, but Hoid characteristically sidesteps the issue, and Dalinar lets the matter fall. So my theory, as relatively inconsequential as it is, is that Hoid uses allomantic brass to sooth people's curiosity so that he is not pressed to answer those question we so wish he would. Thoughts?
  22. I don't know if someone has said this, but couldn't Sazed actually be acting true to his shardic intent? What I mean is that he is trying to maintain harmony among the people of Scadrial. Take for instance, the interactions between the Northern and Southern Scadrians. They could have easily had a hostile end to their conversations. Them parting ways with at least spoken intentions of trade instead of war is one example. Sazed acting to counter Bleeder is another example of trying to maintain harmony in Elendel and the surrounding region. Once again, Sazed is attempting to protect the fragile harmony of Scadrial by fending off the intrusion of the red mist and using his "Preservation" (TenSoon) and "Ruin" (Wax) to counter the very unharmonious plans of the Set. Having relatively minor amounts of discord can actually serve the shardic intent of Harmony. I assume that's what we see happening with Autonomy as well.
  23. Just goes to show that ideas have consequences, especially when acted upon. However, merely convincing myself that I weigh 15 pounds less than I do does not make it true. Even if I convinced everyone else that it was so, it wouldn't actually be true until I actually took steps to make it happen. Ideas can be objectively false. I wonder what what a Cryptic would think of this conversation.
  24. Ok, so assuming you could manage to physically burn a Shardblade, what could one expect to happen, since you are, in effect, burning a Splinter (the spren)? Would it make a difference if the spren was alive or dead? After all, like you mentioned, metals are close approximations of souls in the Cognitive...
  25. Just want to throw out that Brandon has indeed confirmed that Shardblades (and therefore living spren blades) are made of god metal. Since shards are fragments of the power of creation, and their power once condensed is a unique metal, one wonders if Adonalsium is not only the original 'All-Shard', but also the name of its god-metal. Also, good luck trying to allomantically burn a shardblade.
