Since this is before Rhytm of War, it could only be referring to Dalinar. However, they are not all of the same mind on it. It’s in chapter 6: “This is not unexpected, Yelamaiszin sent. I’m pretty sure the comet shaped spren is the one that Ehonai and subsequently Venli bond, namely a Reacher. So, not related to the Skybreakers. Beyond that, your conjecture does have some merit in my opinion.

I’m fairly certain they also had brass. I remember in I think Bands of Mourning that it was deeply embedded in Terri’s culture because they lived in the mountains.

I think your idea will work. However, just like in Dune Messiah where everyone using spice and doing tarot interfered to a great extent with Paul’s future sight, so also there is likely going to be interference from others once enough people start doing it. The more people that look at the future, (and specifically, the more people looking for the same things in the future) the less clear and the shorter sighted all future sight will become. We have precedent with Odium’s plan and Renarin’s interference in his ability to foresee the future. is that clear?

The biggest problem I have with this is that Evi was burned to death. I doubt they soulcast her corpse.

Back to a cloak that can keep you warm, I be there is a way to awaken the cloak to use a brass medallion and constantly tap a desired amount of warmth. But of course you could just use the medallion yourself instead of using breaths to awaken a cloak.

For how Edwarn’s son died, I think it’s possible that Harmony has a less inhibited kandra such as MeLaan assassinate him in some fashion in order to get Wax into the position Harmony needed him in. It’s been made clear that Sazed was very much involved in preparing Wax for his role, going so far as to use agents to directly manipulate him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he also made Hinston’s death look like it was caused by a disease.

Szeth also calls a parrot a parrot, not a chicken. What struck me the most is how similar young Szeth and young Kal are to each other in their desire to do things the right way and to do things perfectly. I am very interested in how their relationship will play out.

It’s also important that with the others, a spren was already forming a proto-bond before ideals were spoken. With the Skybreakers, the Highspren specifically do not begin forming a bond until the “applicant” proves themself worthy.

My understanding of the Skybreaker oath progression is that it follows their philosophical development of justice, and therefore later oaths may override earlier ones. As Szeth swore, “I swear to seek justice, to let it guide me, until I find a more perfect Ideal.“ Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think it would be surprising if Szeth’s 5th ideal freed him from his third oath to obey Dalinar.

Regarding Shallan’s mom probably being the herald that died, has anyone thought about what’s going to go down when they meet? Because you know it’s going to happen. And I doubt that her time on Braize will have… improved… their relationship.

Agreed. Also, there’s the issue of the Hierocracy deleting/editing history and manipulating doctrine. We don’t know all the details there, but it’s not hard to imagine Unmade/human agents being involved.

@Duxredux hey, don’t go away! It’s not easy on the forums to always come across as you mean to. We need people who think differently and ask the questions no one else is asking. Otherwise, theorizing just isn’t going to happen. I’ve posted a quote before that was saying the exact opposite of what I thought it was and had to eat my words. For what it’s worth, you came off far less defensive than some regulars do sometimes.

I’m not trying to attack you. One of the purposes of the forums is to bring counterpoint to each other’s ideas. I think it’s possible Chromium might do some of what you are proposing, but the point I’m trying to make is that when I extrapolate from the evidence we do have, I don’t see it having the effect you propose. My guess on savanthood would be that it would allow a person to be more selective in what investiture they are wiping from another person, just like a person who is very practiced with aluminum is able to be more selective in what they wipe from themselves. Say a leecher savant is trying to wipe a Twinborn who is actively using allomancy and feruchemy. I would guess a savant might be able to target only one of the kinetic investitures if they so choose. That’s what I would suggest based on how I understand Sanderson’s magic systems generally working.
