Would you rather...?
Hemalurgic Headshot replied to The Invested Beard's topic in General Discussion
Without sleep. I need to eat. I don't have to sleep (ish), and I might be about to gaze into the next realm. Would you rather have fingers that only bent backwards, or two left feet without toes? (These body parts are attached to you, by the way) -
The bit on Dai-gonarthis being part of the Scouring of Aimia is intriguing. Because it implies that Aimia had something special that the Unmade was there to destroy, there had to be a reason, something of note. There was an Oathgate there... what else?

[OB] Full Book Reactions / Full Spoilers Thread
Hemalurgic Headshot replied to Chaos's topic in Stormlight Archive
So just finished the book (this is a thread for reactions, right?) and all I can do is scream. Dalinar is so much more the man than I thought he was prior. He has evolved, I felt his pain, and he is the closest thing to Honor since He died. Moash is no more, if you read closely. He is Vyre now. Those hoping for redemption will find none, and I'm quite sure his POVs will change drastically. He has literally taken on a new persona. But there are quite a few things that need to be filled in, presumably by other characters' interactions. First, the blade. It is different... and I'm not sure how. The other things, I probably don't realize yet. Vivenna made a new sword. They made a better Nightblood, one with more reservations and possibly more/less powerful. Recall that she is careful pulling it from its sheath while in Shadesmar, explaining that it needs to become familiar with the wielder. There definitely needs to be a Warbreaker sequel. Chiri-Chiri!!!!!!!! I love this little thing. I picture it like a little greatshell dragon. And Rysn has grown. The Wandersail? I think we should expect some interesting adventures from these two in coming books. Elhokar's son will be important... perhaps in Arc 2. I don't think he would be saved for no reason, the poor kid's parents both gone. Teft, oh Teft. I love this man, I could feel his struggle. He deserved Knighthood. On the topic of the Knights, LOPEN! Honestly, his spren will just be as naughty as he is. Onto matters of heavier weight: Odium. I expected that Brandon would not just give us a one-dimensional villain, no no no. I did not expect for him to be so much of a challenge! He literally represents the flaw in the glorious idea that we had of Roshar, and his cords are so tight, it seems that it will take so much more than whats available to stop him. Taravangian... that was unexpected. To be a willing servant of Odium the whole time? I had supposed that the Diagram was a twisted means of defeating Odium, but it seems like it was the opposite. But we can see that Odium lacks detail: which is why he needs the Diagram. I feel this is just one clash of many to come, a chess match, best two-out-of-three. Perhaps Dalinar was able to recover some lost ground, but nearly the whole of Roshar lies in Odium's grasp, and the coalition is crippled. Perhaps they might need some off-world assisstance. And I can say I was right about Shinovar, kind of. I knew that Shinovar was transplanted, in a sense it was. The local flora and fauna had been displaced by the immigrant humans, and this is why the Shin look most like the humans of the rest of the Cosmere. But on how they got there... the Dawnshards. I'm sure that this will be answered, like so many of the questions we had for Oathbringer. As for our favorite protagonists, protagonist stuff. I thought it was interesting, to see all of them, but it got thrown around quite a bit. The less seen characters were better. I liked seen Renarin, and having a Sja-aran spren? Unexpected and full of possibilities! Jasnah, now monarch and with more knowledge than before, Navani, going to give me those FLYING SHIPS!!! Lift, doing awesome things. Szeth. So... rigid. The problem is, we don't see enough of his true transformation I feel, what happened before he became the Assassin in White. He was forced into become a Skybreaker, pounded into the mold. He trained with all ten of the Surges, and trained with the Honorblades back in Shinovar. Stones Unhallowed will bring me answers. -
Yes, and that scene where Maya attacks the Fused in Shadesmar, there is the descriptions of vines in her appearance, a clear indicator of cultivationspren, the Edgedancer spren.

Mid-Range Game 25: Lowborn Intrigue

Oh, that makes much more sense now, @Drake Marshall. An interesting twist... one I was not prepared for. Congratulations to everyone, yet another apology for my lower activity. It was a great game, thank you @Steeldancer and @TheMightyLopen!- 433 replies

Mid-Range Game 25: Lowborn Intrigue
Hemalurgic Headshot replied to TheMightyLopen's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well then. I spend some time away and it seems like everyone is pointed at me. Wow. Yes, I know my activity has been depressingly low, and I'm sorry for that. My schedule will only get busier, so this is alright. So how is your luck? Should I try to defend myself? Should I try to shift the vote? Who would I choose, and how could I get three votes off of me? Of course I want to stay alive, and win, but how could I? @Drake Marshall It is time for the final stand. Arinian. I think you have been cleverly avoiding blame, and BR certainly thinks you are a Villager. I disagree.- 433 replies

[OB] Oathbringer chapters 28-30
Hemalurgic Headshot replied to Steeldancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Okay, am I late to the party... but things! So there is a corresponding Unmade for each of the Orders except one. My initial instinct is to say that the Bondsmiths are not represented by Unmade, due to the nature of Bondsmiths, but if we look at the Heralds, Taln is the last Herald standing, and he's the Stoneward guy. So is there a Stoneward Unmade? That is unknown at the moment, but surely we will know soon enough. Another option that I've seen is the "the 10th Unmade is Odium's Champion" theory. This aligns with the lack of a Bondsmith Unmade, because the Champion would be similar to a Bondsmith. However, we cannot throw this Odium Champion=Bondsmith Unmade out if the Stoneward Unmade is lacking, because hasn't Dalinar already seen the Champion? The nine shadows? Perhaps the Champion already exists, or at least the Unmade does, and it waits to bond with the Champion. We do know that Unmade can bond, as what almost happened with Shallan. I would like to see what happens if an Unmade does bond... -

I feel that your accusations for Rand are not strong enough to be worthy vote causes, and that is suspicious. As for Rand being a Villager, it is mostly a gut read for the alignment, but he is a good player and is actively contributing to the conversation. I don't want to lose him.- 433 replies

Mid-Range Game 25: Lowborn Intrigue
Hemalurgic Headshot replied to TheMightyLopen's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Okay, so I'm back to actually vote! Of the three I suspect, (Striker, Lemon, and Manukos), I think Striker is probably the most suspicious. It seems like he's trying to hide something by conforming. Ninja'd by Arinian, who voted on Rand. Why? Why would you do that? I find that rather suspicious, because Rand is my strongest Village read. Arin.- 433 replies

Mid-Range Game 25: Lowborn Intrigue
Hemalurgic Headshot replied to TheMightyLopen's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@randuir you’re right, Joe didn’t PM me. That is a little strange, maybe he forgot me? I wasn’t very active at all that first cycle, so perhaps I slipped under his radar? I don’t know. As for the vote, I’m not sure. Having more people up lessens the chance of a particular person dying, but I’m not sure who. Rand, other than Jon, who is dead, is my most stable village read on account of his activity and sound analysis so far. Lemon seems a bit suspicious, and Striker too. Manukos is another suspicion of mine. I’ll vote in color when I get home, using the mobile, while it is possible, is a hassle and I can’t seem to get it right.- 433 replies

Mid-Range Game 25: Lowborn Intrigue
Hemalurgic Headshot replied to TheMightyLopen's topic in Sanderson Elimination
THIS is what happens when I step away for awhile. All Ruin breaks loose. Well then... from what I can tell, Manukos is in a tight spot, seeing that Walin was a villager. But Walin was confusing altogether, so I'm not sure what to say. My greatest village read so far is Jon, having been accused by Joe, a proven Elim, and has been providing worthwhile analysis so far. I guess Roadwalker is good too, can't really tell much. I need a moment to sort through how things shape up.- 433 replies

One thing that is really coming out at me: Urithiru has a spren. We know that lots of things have spren. Recall when Shallan first entered Shadesmar, and she encountered the cupspren, thingspren #2, etc, and she looks further and sees the palace. Palacespren. Urithiru is definitely distinctive enough to have its own spren, especially how other spren and Shallan act around/in it. Note the strata description, which furthers Urithiru as more than a building. Now we have H. P. Kandraspren that has been haunting up the place. The popular theory is that this eldritch monstrospren is an Unmade, and I agree. But I feel that this spren was not originally warped by Odium. The Urithiruspren is ancient, and Odium warped it, making it into one of his demonthings. That is why it is Urithiru, why there is something so wrong about that place. There has to be a reason why that spren is in Urithiru.

Bridge 13, that one that never made it on the roster, the one always short on supplies because someone forgot, the one where everyone is addressed as *scribble* because the ardent has horrible handwritting, the one that only runs because there was a leftover bridge and leftover bridgemen, the one considered "unlucky, but not unlucky enough to be known for being unlucky." Tis the life of Bridge 13.- 433 replies

Yeah, really sorry about that Maj. I had a little creative slump, and then stuff got into my life. I'd really like to get that up and going again, but now I'm working on a webcomic with a friend...
