  1. Illwei felt weird in that post where she votes on you then stick instead (might’ve been the other way around, not sure). You have just been giving me odd vibes so far. Nothing too bad, just keeping an eye on you. And Books because of the way they somewhat immediately backed off on me and stuff.
  2. Anyway, Gears. Meant to do this earlier. I didn’t even realize that I’ve got a trend of voting him for D1. Also didn’t realize that the analysis thing would’ve been prewritten. I think right now I’m looking at Quinn, Illwei, and Books in terms of suspicions so far. Not sure who I’m going to vote for yet, but we still have like 36 hours or something like that, so I’ve got time to decide.
  3. I mean...it can't be every game, can it? What's that? People have probably already said this by not, but I'll say it anyway: role analysis is not a good idea. Kas is a relatively troll-y GM. He could've given the village a bunch of Smokers. Or given them all to the elims. Or there are no Smokers at all. A lot of the old timers talk about a game where they went after all of the Smokers/Soothers (can't remember which one it was) because the village assumed at least one of them must've been an elim. None of them were. So, knowing Kas is from that era, I feel like that is something he would be down for doing. Now, obviously I'm not going to assume he did. But making the assumption that he didn't do it either is a bad idea.
  4. (This is the last post from page 2 I saw before testing if I could keep this quote and go back to page 1. Not gonna risk losing all of this by going back to page 2 ) I mean, yeah. I was gonna say that. The only time Seekers need to worry is when they scan someone as vanilla villager. Otherwise, they know for sure that their scans are good (or evil ). I mean...if it’s a trend...what’s it a trend of? (Hint: it’s a village trend for me) I mean, you vote on me and say you don’t want to vote on me anyway. Which is it, Mat? Also how do we keep ending up in this dance on D1 Mat?
  5. I mean...yes, I know. But it shouldn't be too hard to figure out if someone is actually a vanilla villager or not. And you're more likely than not to scan someone correctly than incorrectly. There's probably...2, maybe 3 smokers in the game. Your odds of hitting anyone that's been smoked are only 3/14. Obviously the odds increase as players die, but smokers are just as likely to die as anyone else in the game. I mean...they were two separate thoughts. My guesses for the elim team don't take into account roles. And even accounting for roles, it's not like a coinshot's kills are only going to affect the village negatively. They can hit elims too. And I'm not advocating for coinshots to kill randomly. I'm saying that if they have suspicions, no matter how small they are, they should go for them. It's how I've operated any time I've had a kill or a scan or something like that. Waiting around for the right opportunity to use a kill helps no one because you could be dead by the time you were planning to use it, and the village (assuming coinshots would only be village) would lose out on their kill. I mean...it could just be that I made my post in a rush and was mostly just trying to get discussion out there and get people talking. Which, look: I succeeded. Eh, agree to disagree. I don't think it's useless to avoid killing N1. The elims aren't going to avoid it, so why should we? Even if the odds of hitting an elim are low, they're not 0. There's still a 21-25% chance (slightly higher because someone should be dead by the end of today) that you'll hit an elim. And coinshots should be going for people they think could be an elim. People that have been doing stuff in thread that people can get reads off of when they flip. No matter what, any coinshot kill gives information to the village, which is the most valuable resource the village gets in a game. Also, I meant to quote more of Mat's big post from last page in response to me, but I was rushing and forgot to. I have to go now, but someone remind me to go back and respond to some of his points from that post later. Don't want to risk this post by going back a page.
  6. Well...I can’t say I’m surprised this happened. At least I caused discussion like I wanted! Well, first off: Seekers scan for role and alignment. Secondly: I forgot about Smokers. I mean...I don’t see how it’s contradictory at all. I can simultaneously want the elims to have a better chance of winning because I want the game to be balance and also want the coinshot to kill a lot so we can get information. My personal philosophy with kills is to use them as often as possible. It doesn’t matter if you hit an elim or not (at least in the early game) because knowing someone was a villager can help us when looking at people who interacted with that player. I’m a bit sad I’m not a coinshot. I would absolutely be using my kill every night if I was. I mean, you’re not wrong that it was an attempt to throw shade on someone. Because it was. And it worked! I got people to start discussing a lot. Anyway, I’ve been ninja’d a bit again, but not gonna risk losing the post.
  7. Variel watched as the crowd began to disperse. In a way, he was a bit disappointed. He had the perfect opportunity to begin a story, where so many people could hear his story. Granted, that could be considered disrespectful to poor Bart...but Variel had learned that man's story once. Variel figured the man wouldn't mind his death being used as a way to tell his story, even if the names were changed a bit. So, Variel began a story about no one in particular and to no one in particular as he was walking away from the scene of the crime. "Some time ago," Variel began, "a child was disowned by his parents. Through no fault of his own, for sure, but it was a particularly misty day when Haller found himself on the streets. Haller kept trying to find his parents again, but to no avail. Eventually, he learned his parents had died, so he gave up. One day, a kind man found Haller and took him in, began to show him what it means to be truly loved by someone. I think it's beautiful that we can find true family even in the worst of situations." ~ So, some quick thoughts: I recommend Lurchers protecting themselves until they learn of someone they think it's more valuable to protect. I would recommend Coinshots using their kills as often as possible. You might be wrong about someone, but even knowing that someone is village will give us information on other people. Seekers: if you find someone that's village, go ahead and PM them (assuming they're still open). That's someone you know for sure that you can trust. As for the elims, I'm betting we have no less than 6, and probably have 7. 25% is just too nice of a number, and 8 perfect cycles in order for an elim team of 6 players to win is a long time to go without losing any elims. Even if 7 perfect cycles is a shorter amount of time to win, I feel an elim team deserves the win if they manage to not lose any elims for that long. Anyway, I've been ninja'd like 4 times by now, but I don't risk seeing the posts for fear of losing this one. Also, Gears. Something already feels off about his role analysis to me. Feels way too forced, honestly. May as well get some discussion going while I can. I probably won't be back on for another...5-6 hours or so. But felt like I should go ahead and say something to start off the game.
  8. What's your elim streak at so far?
  9. So...you'd be interested to spec, but also are too burnt out, but also want the spec doc? Anyway, sign me up as a spectator as well. As much as I wish I could join this game, probably wouldn't be smart to play two games at once during school.
  10. You definitely don't need to apologize for this. I definitely didn't RP as much as I'd been planning to either. Helpful by default? Almost? I guess I did end up helping by causing a whole lot of discussion around myself, which people could analyze or something.
  11. I just want to say that I really had a blast playing this game. Even if I do wish I'd actually gotten a chance to use some of the items and stuff I'd hoarded up, it was really fun PM spidering and doing stuff like that. And while I can understand why everyone thought I was suspicious...I also want to know why people kept thinking I was suspicious.
  12. I was literally just thinking about that. And with Books saying on the Discord server that they think another one of their friends might be making an account to play, we could hit 28 players. Which means we could have 7-8 elims. Which is awesome! I’m excited for this game!!
  13. Variel dusted his coat off as he walked through the streets of Fallion’s Tears. The ashfalls were lighter today, but it was still enough to dust his coat with a fine layer of ash. The coat itself wasn’t his finest coat in his possession, but he couldn’t let the ash stain this one too badly. He needed to look rugged, sure, but too much ash and dirt on a coat would drive away anyone who might listen to his stories. Not to mention that he needed to keep up appearances to learn what he needed to tell this little town’s story someday. Variel could tell that this story would certainly be an interesting one. ~ I’m bringing Variel back, but as a Storyteller. He’s got all of his old finickiness about his clothing still, but I probably won’t mention that every cycle as it could get tedious. He will be telling a story every cycle, while also keeping his own story a bit of a mystery. Anyway, I’m way too excited to play this game.
  14. So, I like this idea, but this is something that could go south fast if we’re not careful. Could very easily turn into “why didn’t you keep to your plan? Are you an elim?” Or just general feelings of guilt about not being able to keep up with the game. These are things that would be a good way to help players try and stay engaged throughout a game, but I’d just caution that we don’t hold people to make them or if they can’t keep doing it. I like the recent trend I’ve noticed in some games where they’ve had specific lists in the signups for pinch hitters and spectators. Going into a signup thread and seeing that it’s okay if you decide you can’t play or might just be willing to play if someone else can’t I think will be a great way to help people out. I also think GMs in general should make plans for any player counts they may end up getting. They should plan games that can’t function with less than 15 players in my opinion. And they should let people know what player counts they’d like to have and what is the absolute minimum number of players they need to keep things balanced. I think things like this would help a lot. I really really like incentives in games over having punishments for inactivity. Whether that’s through an economy like in LG65 and LG66 or some other method, I think having incentives is more likely to get people to want to engage with the game than threatening them with being kicked out of the game. Also, these aren’t things meant specifically just for Araris, he’s just the one who last said something and I felt I should add my thoughts. Overall, I don’t think we should demonize inactivity, because we never know completely what’s going on in someone’s life behind the screen. The best we can do is help people try and be as active as they can, and help players feel like they don’t need to play the game if they don’t have the time for it.
  15. @Quintessential @Lotus I tend to sign up as soon as I come up with a game idea that’s fleshed out enough that I want to run it. Even if the rules aren’t even ready yet. There’s often enough time from when you sign up to when you actually run it that you’ll have plenty of time before you reach the top of the list. And even if you’re busy at the time you hit the top of the list, you can say you’re busy. Then as soon as you’re ready you can say you’re ready and run the next game right away. That’s what I plan to do over the summer.
  16. You can stay on the list. It will be a very long time before you get to run a game, and you can always pass if it gets to you and your game isn’t quite ready yet. May as well stay on the list so that when you do get around to bring ready to run the game, you don’t have to wait months to run it.
  17. I'm about to go back to practicing, but I'll go ahead and ask if any of @Ventyl @Flyingbooks @Burnt Spaghetti @Kasimir or @Ashbringer would want to switch to Araris. I'm fine with dying at this point, so not a big deal if you don't. When I flip village, I suggest taking a look at Araris, Kas, Gears, and Ventyl. I think those are your best bets at finding elims.
  18. Remember what happened with Dannex's exe in that game though? They were village. Just because a player has caused a lot of discussion and is pivotal in people suspicions doesn't mean they're village. If me being a villager makes you suspect others, and you're sure I'll be a villager so you can go after others...why don't we go after other people instead and save us exing a villager?
  19. So, someone has let me know that I retracted a vote on Gears that I never placed and never retracted my Ventyl vote. For now, I'm going to vote on Araris. He put himself in a perfect position to control the village multiple times over the course of this game (setting up the defense plan, grabbing a lantern and now every other public lantern holder is dead), plus he's constantly gone back and forth on me and Gears. Granted, that second point basically describes myself, but at least when I write a post making Illwei seem suspicious, I don't at the end of it vote Mat instead.
  20. For what it's worth, Sart told me that I gave a Bribe to the Thief. So...he can be a bit silly in terms of what he says about how our actions played out.
