  1. I haven't told anyone where I am, and don't plan on doing so. Archer, it is true I can do better, particularly when I have time and energy to devote to a game. But as noted, school has started, and I have a lot less time available nowadays. I plan on helping as much as I have time for, but like I doubt I'll have time to get back on today. Just got a short break right now. Therefore I'm going to be more cagey, and generally less optimal than my best possible playing. If at any point I do feel like I no longer have enough time for the game at all, I'll just end up asking for a pinch hitter.
  2. Hm, you don't get told when you get relocated? Thrilling. Can't claim my location if I'm not even sure where I am. It's like being Zoro! Always lost! Also like me irl. Honestly, what I really need to do is do a thorough reread, but I'm still getting some homework done, and tomorrow is crazy... I might need to take a break from SE if things get much more busy than this. My one thought at the moment is that when I get back I'll be interested in people flying under the radar, like Tani. But I'll worry about that later.
  3. I mean, I'm reading you as evil, but I always read you as evil so at this point that doesn't really mean anything to me. I do have to say, there was definitely something going on day one. What exactly that was, I have yet to put my finger on. I'll be interested to see who the elims kill tonight. Or if they successfully kill at all. This early in the game, I feel like that could give us some information, given the location mechanic. I have to go get a bunch of homework done so I probably won't be back on for a while.
  4. Crafted? Since when are my posts ever crafted? Literally every single post I ever make is just an upchuck of whatever I'm thinking about at the time. So when I don't have much to think about, I don't have much to say. When I do have something to think about, I say it. It's why I sometimes come off as distracted or chaotic, just because I tend to say whatever I'm thinking. I've never been the kind of player to carefully construct my posts. This has gotten me exed... A lot. But I don't much feel like changing. However, I will state my annoyance briefly. People seemed to not like the fact that I basically checked in and said, I don't have any thoughts at the moment. I ask you, what thoughts am I supposed to have? Like I said before, I absolutely despise not saying anything at all. I hold myself to certain standards when playing SE, and one of those is to post and vote every day (ideally). That means sometimes, when I don't have many thoughts, that's what my posts will consist of. Look at the past couple QFs and MRs. Ive been like this day one of pretty much every game since I got back. So I fail to see how it is at all alignment indicative. It's true, I'm not contributing much at the moment. That's because I tend to stew on things for a while until I'm more certain of my conclusions. This is how my playstyle is, regardless of alignment, so I'd prefer this not get me exed for the fourth game in a row. Past couple games the elims have used this against me, and gotten me exed for being like this. And particularly in a game like this which is information centric, I don't much feel like being free with the information and conclusions I come to. At least for now.
  5. We don't even find out location upon death? Huh. Interesting. This strengthens my thought that this game will ultimately come down to distribution of information. In fact... now that I think about it, your location is probably even more valuable information than your role. Because, you can't be targeted (unless it's guessed) even if people know your role. But regardless of your role, as soon as people know your location, you can be targeted. This is also a bit odd in it's interaction with the tineye, because a tineye will need to know where people are in order to scan them. (I will note from a balance perspective, I quite like this restriction on the scanner, because generally I'm not a huge fan of alignment scanners, but having a decent chance of failure seems to balance it well)
  6. After rereading thread, I'd agree that Azimine is probably the best exe for today. I'd prefer they come and say something else besides their 2 posts... But there's only a half an hour left so I doubt that'll happen.
  7. Yay I remembered the game Incidentally, I haven't been in much of a solvey mood lately. The last couple games I got exed fairly early just because I wasn't actively solving the game. I'd prefer that not happen again in an LG, but my statement still stands that I just don't have much to say at the moment (then proceeds to write a long post because... It's me) However it is true I feel some obligation to say something and vote. It would be rather hypocritical of me to wait for more information while not providing any sort of information myself. So in the interest of information, I'm not just going to be entirely quiet. Because I dislike that playstyle. This actually does bring me to some thoughts about the rules, shockingly. This is very much a game of information. Between roles and rooms, information is very much at a premium in this game. As for a conclusion from that... um I guess I'd be wary of anyone fishing for information. From what I remember of the rules (because I'm on mobile and not looking at them right now) I would assume in general, unless you're a village coinshot, elims knowing rooms and roles is going to make a much bigger difference than villagers knowing rooms and roles. So beware of that, I guess. Not that it's necessarily alignment indicative but it could be a basis for suspicion.
  8. So that would be....... 4PM MST. ok. In that case, we've got plenty of time left in the turn. I'll vote before the turn ends (as long as I don't go and forget about the game again)
  9. Blegh I forgot about this game again. Thing is, I don't have much to say at the moment. I don't have any real commentary on the rules, other than don't claim, obviously. I don't have any reads at the moment, either. I'm kind of content at the moment to kind of just sit and see what happens, and then draw some conclusions starting in the night. Trying to figure anything out day 1 is always just... an impossible task. And not one I want to tackle right now. Feel free to PM me or whatever if you want. I probably won't be starting any myself right now.
  10. Hi, I'm alive, I'll come back and say something after work.
  11. Dangit I had a perfect game. One vote on elkanah, and an action submitted on Archer because I instantly knew when he claimed that he was lying. And I got exed day one. Woe be me.
  12. Hiii I have a great proposition for this game Let's actually try to lynch an elim this time instead of getting completely wiped. Now that I've put that out there, I'm gonna vote elkanah , because I've never played with them before and I'd like to see how they react to a poke vote.
  13. Yeah the semester may be coming up but I still think I can get on once a day. I've always been irresponsible anyway. Signing up as Steel!
  14. Hello I have been busy watching Jojo and reading light novels like the weeb I am But it seems I am needed here. Please note I am moving this week so my activity may be spotty but I'll do my best
  15. Incidentally, this is probably one of the things I would change. In order to give the elims more flexibility, I would make it so the kill wouldn't take an action (except for the Mavset-im kill), and then make decayform destroy the form, rather than the gemstone. That really would have been a great mechanic in this game. Smokeform... yeah I don't know how to help that one. Smokeforms sounds like it should be a village thing, but isn't. The most helpful thing that it does is track who makes PMs with who, but that isn't as important in a game where there's no strong singular village role. So yeah, the elim gems needed to be tuned a bit. Another thing I might change is to make the gemstone counts more anonymous, so it can't be used to prove the whole game. I had that idea when I was first doing the game, but couldn't figure out how to implement it. Now that I'm thinking about it, the way to do it would be to have a total gemstone stash visable to me, which then out of that a few gemstone are presented as options to each player during the day, through their GM PM. That way no one knows the total number of gemstones. But unfortunately that takes away some of the choice that I was really aiming for this game. But in terms of smart rule making, that would probably be better so it can't be mechanically solved like that.
  16. Araris, you literally read my freaking mind. The idea I came up with was basically what I just ran, but with one Knight Radiant, and one Fused. Then everyone else has to choose their gemstone, and that gemstone will determine their alignment. Could also be spicy with additional factions as well. It would most likely work best if it weren't a classic village/elim situation though. I'm going to stew on this one. Might pop out a rule set eventually.
  17. Alrighty, GM thoughts. This game was really interesting to watch. Although, I'm not sure I can deal with any more of Kasimir's questions. Every single day he'd be asking me for 5-6 more rule clarifications. For those who don't bother to read the dead doc, this is where this game came from. I was originally inspired after my Dreamer game that I ran before my mission, with a straight up bodyhopping mechanic (although that game was an item hunt rather than a normal SE game). So I thought, who hops in bodies? Fused! Fused do! (I know Kandra do too, but I didn’t think of them). That was the basic idea before my mission. After my mission, more ideas came together. I decided to try something a bit different. The voting rules, for example, are styled after Among Us. Everyone gets to choose their own role. I also realized I liked the idea of there being some sort of requirement for each form. It makes sense flavor wise, since different forms have different forms of thought. Most of them also encourage activity. When designing the roles, I realized that it would be, well, kind of broken to have the stronger roles available, such as a village kill and a scanner. So I decided to toss them out. With an anonymous game, this means that at the end of the day, this ends up being an entirely skill based game. You can choose your playstyle. You can choose your role. For the village, if the decision is presented to you, you can even choose what side you want to be on. If you get a voidgem, and you use it, you get converted. It’s even in flavor, because who knows if the Singers necessarily are willing to break free of Odium’s oppression. When finishing constructing the game, I realized that there were strong themes inherent in the rule set that I came up with, so I doubled down on that for the writeups. The themes of freedom and choice were key for this rule set. This is why I added the conversion mechanic. It used to be a full on conversion mechanic, but I changed it to make it so people had to choose to do so. Granted, the elims only ever handed out a single gemstone, and Dragonfly didn't end up using it. I felt like it fit perfectly into the type of story I was trying to tell. I figured most people wouldn't take the bait, but a few might. I wanted to provide that temptation and see what people would choose. What might have been even more fun would have been to leave a single voidspren gemstone in the village stash at the beginning of the game, and see how people reacted. Could have been funny. Incidentally, I should mention balance. I balanced this game under the assumption that at some point, someone would convert. Nobody ended up converting, but it was the right thing to do given how the elim team got their hands on both mediationforms and a warform. That side of the game, I was really pleased with. I was also really happy, thematically, how the game literally hinged on Azure Mouses's choice to not convert, and instead hand out a mediationform to the village. It fit perfectly into what I was aiming for in this game. However, I do have a couple quibbles with my own rule set. First off, I didn't like how the PMs ended up being used. I should have made it so all PMs were one on one on top of being just for one cycle, and Kasimir made the good suggestion at the end of the game that I probably could have made the Artform into a mailman as well, thus encouraging the use of Artform. This would have made it a lot harder to clear players just based on PMs, and made it even harder to identify Mavset-im. The way PMs were set up, Mavset-im basically didn't stand a chance. I'm glad I made the various other adjustments that I did, such as Scholarform. As it was, scholarform still ended up being the most powerful role in the game, even after putting the limiters on it that I did. I probably would have nerfed Warform a bit more in hindsight, or just had less of them. Warform severely slowed the game down, but that was also due to bad luck on the elims part. I liked how Mediationform and Workform turned out, although after what happened at the end, I probably would provide less workform gemstones. So I guess it'll be Mist who ends up with a stormform gemstone in their posession, although I realized I wasn't actually supposed to put that back in the village stash. I thought it was the manufactured one, when in fact Azure Mouse still had that one, so that gemstone should have returned back to the elim stash. But since it was the end of the game, I just didn't bother to fix the mistake. All in all, this was a fun game to run, and to watch. It was such a tight game, and the elim team came so close to winning, and then the village managed to turn it around. I had both endings plotted out in my mind from the beginning, though. If the elims had won, Moirin would have been killed in the writeup, and Thane would have been forced into a regal form, and sent to the front lines against the Heralds. Both were good endings, in my mind. I was particularly happy with my writeup of Mavset-im's death, because it really captured the themes that I was inspired by with this game. Of all my rulesets, I think I'm most likely to rerun this one and the Dreamer ones. It'll likely be a while before I'm up to GM again, which is ok because college starts here in a few weeks. If I do rerun this, I'll likely make the changes I just mentioned, as well as implement a few more rules to add some interesting things. Flavor wise, the rerun would probably take place in modern day roshar, whereas this game is set somewhere in the Last Desolation. Answering questions. The beginning elim stash was as such- 2 Stormform, 2 Decayform, and 1 Smokeform. They never ended up using Decayform and Smokeform, so those are still in the stash in the document. The chances of elims grabbing an item ended up being 2 to 1. Just because that was the easiest to RNG, and I'm nothing if not lazy. edit: Yeah, in regards to the conversion mechanic, I didn't really think to explain that I was ok with people converting themselves. The mechanic was very limited in game, taking 3 seperate actions (and thus 2 cycles, because the gem can only be used in the night) in order to get a void gem to a villager and actually have them use it, and only 3 available voidspren from scholarform, on top of the all-important freedom of choice to actually use said gem. So it was not at all a broken mechanic. Also, I have no idea what the current meta is, so I'm completely untainted by ideas of "don't self convert." Are there even any other games that have been run with a similar mechanic? But I probably could have explained in the rules that I was ok with people converting if they so chose to, when I was mostly trying to obscure that particular interaction in the rules. I kind of wanted people to discover it for themselves, rather than me explain it. That didn't really last very long though. Thank you @Araris Valerian for helping with the IMing. I'm glad everything worked out, and that everyone could continue having fun, as that is always my most important goal when running a game.
  18. LG79/AN10 Aftermath: The Rhythm of Freedom What is freedom? What is agency? What cost do these things have? These are the questions which drive men, singers, and pirates alike to search for more, to become more. Is living in comfort true freedom? Or is living without being controlled freedom? Is freedom the ability to actually think and understand? When we look at the choices these singers made, we see all of these things at play. They chose to run from comfort, from control and a stable life, to the unknown, away from their gods, their ancestors, away from war. And the cost was high. Many of them perished, fallen to the sword or trickery of the servants of Odium. But they came off conquerer. That night, the final servant gave themselves up. After killing her, there was no more deaths after that point. --- Thane walked at the back of the significantly smaller group of singers. It had been several weeks since the last murder. They had finally arrived in Natanatan, and headed towards the abandoned city of Stormseat, which had been destroyed earlier in the war. As they were walking, Thane felt something in the rhythms. Were there others nearby? Thane went himself, being in nimbleform, to go and see if they were friendly or not. He was shocked to discover that it was a large clan of Dullforms, all living in small structures on the land. Who were they? Why were they all in dullform? He reported his findings back to Moirin, who was suitably surprised as well. If they were all dullform, with that many, that meant... They were the Last Legion. The Last Legion had fled Odium. --- Among them, a singer pulled out a gemstone he had stolen off of the corpse of the final traitor. Inside, a spren of red lightning dwelt. He grinned. --- And so the small group of singers who fled from the Fused ended up joining the Last Legion in their quest for freedom from their Gods. Their group was small, so their story has been lost to history. But Abaram would remember, thousands of years later, when the Everstorm hit Roshar, and her insane mind once again inhabited a body. And the Fused aren't really well known for forgiving and forgetting.... --- Onyx Flamingo (7): Flamingo, Vulture, Weasel, Mouse, Scorpion Onyx Flamingo was exed! They were a Mediationform Servant of Odium! The Singer Rebels have won the game! Final Player List Thanks for playing everyone, I hope you all had fun! Please leave your Anonymous accounts, either me (if I'm not lazy) or someone else will change all the passwords and clean up the PMs and whatnot. And goodness gracious there were a lot of PMs. I'll leave the various documents down below. I'll get my GM thoughts up later today probably. It being my first completed game since returning, I have some thoughts on how it went. Elim Doc Dead Doc Master Sheet
