  1. Wait, that's my bad. The Unknown Novel's vote wasn't included, but was counted. Sorry.
  2. LG87: Night 1 - New Commands During the day, the king had his most brilliant scholars working constantly on the new art, known as Awakening. He thought, perhaps, he might be able to turn the tide of the war through this new thing. Imagine his surprise when three of his scholars came back by noon, having discovered 3 new commands to use! Including one, which, as soon as he thought about it, changed basically everything. However, one of the scholars was disliked among the others, and when her experiments came back fruitless, they managed to get her executed. Was it just? Who knows. These things aren't so cut and dry here. ~~~ VOTE TOTALS Araris (1): Fifth Scholar Matrim's Dice (1): Araris Sart (5): Matrim, Stick, Luck, Elandera, Bard Elandera (6): Archer, Sart, Ash, Kasimir, Xinoehp, The Unknown Novel Elandera has been Exed! She was a Revolutionary Citizen with the First Heightening! (for reference, Citizens are just what I'm calling roleless people). 3 Commands were discovered! Known Commands: The Night wil end in about 23 hours, at 10PM EDT, 7/10/22. Player List
  3. Alright, the day is over! Stop changing your votes to give me a chance to count all of them.
  4. Spies can only detect current joined faction. So, no, they would not see a Infiltrator as an infiltrator, but rather as a Royalist Hawk or whatever they joined.
  5. So I'm going to push rollover back by one hour for purely selfish reasons, there's this lovely beach I'm now at and I want to spend some time on it before coming inside and doing rollover. So it'll be in about 3 hours at 10 PM EDT.
  6. Quick GM Note before I hop on another plane: my preference for how researching actions are submitted are: research [command (not the AFFECT of the command, the command itself)], [insert number] breath. From there, the results will be 1. Success 2. Incorrect command 3. Not enough breath.
  7. This question has been asked a couple times when I didn't think it was confusing: any time Royals are referred to in the rules, it refers to the role, not the Royalist factions. Sorry for that.
  8. Alright Archer has agreed to Pinch hit for Striker! I'm gonna add him to everything he needs to be added to.
  9. Quick GM Note: due to IRL circumstances, StrikerEZ needs to drop out of the game. I'm hoping to get a pinch hitter, but as this is a faction game where player counts matter, just making it public knowledge.
  10. You know what, I hadn't thought about that. But I'll make the call that yeah, I'll inform you what was wrong. I'd rather not make it impossible for the game to end. RULE CLARIFICATION: Various win conditions refer to outnumbering other factions. This doesn't count all people in those other factions together, but rather the people in each individual faction. So, a faction of 2 would outnumber 3 factions of 1 people.
  11. Day One - Ready, Set, FIGHT Sides had been chosen, the lines in the sand had been drawn. The most important factions were well known in the Royal Court. They had many supporters, but those were divided between those who desired war with the other nations, the Hawks, and those who desired an end to the Manywar at almost any cost, the Doves. There were also those who despised the Royals for their recent choices. They were known as the Revolutionaries, for they were quite public in their efforts to get rid of the Royal family and bring about a new, more fair government, at any cost. However, as the King had suspected, there were other factors at work. Several smaller groups had managed to amass some power, with goals completely unknown. But it was known they had Breath, money, and influence. Even beyond that, a greater threat lurked. The country who had defeated Hallendren in the recent battle had sent spies to destabilize the government. These spies saw this splintering as an opportunity, and desired to utilize this to topple the royals and defeat Hallendren once and for all. And so, upon these developments, the day dawned. A day, beyond which, Hallendren would never be the same. ~~~ Everyone should have gotten their new faction PMs, so let me know if you didn't get one. You all got distributed into something, so you deserve to be in the document for that. I might slightly change exactly when this day ends, but it'll most likely be something along the lines of pushing it back an hour or two so it doesn't interfere with family time during the day. I'll let you know the details as they occur. Also, for the record, there are a lot of PMs, and since I will be doing other stuff, I won't have time to read them all. I trust you guys, but if there are any problems, please just ping me or Devotary directly so I get the message. I think that's about it. Let the game (actually) begin! Turn will end in about 48 hours. So, 7PM 7/9/2022 MST. Or 9PM EST, which is what I'll be on at that point. Player List
  12. Alright the night is over, and the choosing is finished! Your faction PMs will be sent out shortly! Let the show begin! (cackling in the background, thunder strikes ominously)
  13. Commands will be closer to grab person, with the effect of a roleblock. Please don't strangle Steeldancer, he does not approve of such actions. The 6th heightening... well I'll deal with it on a case by case basis. ALSO HALF AN HOUR TO GET YOUR PMS IN. Now I have 36 to go and read so excuse me while I go do that.
  14. It basically means, they don't have to kill all the doves to win. That would be fairly unbalanced, which is why that line is included. I will accept close synonyms, because of *intent*. However, it should be doable to get the exact commands.
  15. A few small notes! Uh, if you somehow didn't get a GM PM, please let me know. I think now I actually got everybody, despite me being really, really bad at math. Second, remember you only have about.... 9 hours left to get your choices in! If not, I'm sticking you wherever I want. Third, I didn't clarify this very well, but there are no actions tonight, along with there being no kill or anything like that. This is functionally just a turn for PMs, rule reading, and choosing of factions. The game will start in earnest D1. I think that's everything for now.
  16. Also, quick reminder for everybody: there are hard limits on how many people can join any one faction. There is also a quota for each faction that must be filled, or balance will go wonk. That should be my last comment for now, I'm going to go eat and do some writing.
  17. That is a fat, fat PAFO. It has come to my attention that I've been a bit inconsistent with what actions can be used when. I'm going to add a line in the action part of the rules that clears things up a bit about which actions can be used when. Alright, I also fixed in the rules the 2 clarifications I made to awakening and the 5th Heightening. Everything should be good.
  18. N0 - The Great Choosing That night, people met in rooms all across Hallendren. Faith in the Royal family was at an all time low, after the loss of a massive battle against another country. Who would side with who? What terrible conspiracies and betrayals would come about as a result? These were the thoughts floating through the king's head as he gazed out on the darkened city of Hallendren. He wanted to protect his people more than anything, but had failed. Now, the future of the very country was in the hands of the people of this city. ~~~ N0 has begun! One on One PMs are open, and remember to inclue Devotary and I in them. Please submit your selections of faction (top 3 is preferable) by the end of the turn, which will end in about 24 hours, at 7 PM, 7/7/2022 MST. THE FACTIONS: Player List
  19. Alright, Distribution is complete (despite my terrible abilities at math), and signups are closed and PMs will be out shortly. Quick GM comment before the game begins. This game is really, really weird. Nobody has ever tried something like this before. Honestly, I'm not sure how this will work out. It is within the realm of possibility that there will be a point in the game where some of you may be locked out of your win condition for some reason or another. My hope, is that the priority will be to have fun with the weird mechanics and have a good game. Cheers!
  20. I'm making one more small rule adjustment, to prevent a potential scenario at the end of the game where too much breath stacks up and no one can die. As the 5th heightening says one attack survive per person, I'm also making that per batch of breath. In other words, if a chunk of 100 breath is used once to survive an attack, and then you inherit that breath after they die, then that will not allow you to survive an attack. This will prevent A. Passing around breath to survive tons of attacks and B. Endgame attacks becoming useless. Thanks for putting up with me as I try to make sure this game is (relatively) balanced. Distributions are almost done, so PMs should start going out pretty much exactly at 7, and I'll be able to get N0 up pretty soon thereafter.
  21. 1 more hour +20 minutes of signups (in other words, I'm going to start doing distributions now...)
  22. New players added, and a slight change to awakening, now that I've finished balancing the commands: Upon awakening, some commands will have an immediate effect. The following day, you may take an action to retrieve the breath from item. Other awakened items may be used multiple times. Upon successful research, this information will be revealed for that command.
  23. Quick additional rule change: ignore the thing about primary factions ending the game. The hidden factions may also be able to end the game upon completion of their win conditions, but that will all be in the description of the win condition itself. Basically meaningless right now, but it was a problem that I realized today.
