  1. If it is a political marriage, then it doesn't necessarily mean that romance will be involved at all.
  2. Windrunners traits are Leading and Protecting, so deciding to step into a greater leadership role will be part of how he needs to grow. This will not happen instantly.
  3. Beyond the political reasons, I would love to see more of those "cuddle a skyell" conversations.
  4. If the central mystery of Adonalsium, Hoid or the Cosmere hinges on the Continuum Hypothesis, that is going to be the ultimate RAFO to end all RAFOs.
  5. Personally and emotionally, this is debateably true, but from a political/historical perspective, she will not have that luxury.
  6. Assuming there are no problems that come up. Better to be prepared. Historically, that works better than hoping for the best.
  7. I am not (yet) convinced about their compatibility, but a little while back, I looked at the simple political necessity of a political marriage between them, from a purely political/historical perspective, and for the stability of the kingdom, it is going to be important, and Jasnah knows this. Kaladin is (unwittingly) accumulating too much power, and historically, the best way to contain that, is marriage. I explained this is more detail in my post Romance aside, there are some political reasons it will be important.
  8. The normally prolific Jim Butcher just released Briefcases. I am not normally a big fan of either urban fantasy or short stories, but I am always happy to make an exception for Chicago's most beleaguered wizard/gumshoe detective.
  9. I wonder if Urithiru wasn't grown. In which case, the strata are (among other things) simply growth rings, from the process of growing.
  10. New WoB Still not sure what to make of it. But it seems to be suggestive of some theories suggested. Alas, none of my theories.
  11. Vin winning makes sense, but if Kaladin has stormlight, would Vin either know how to kill, or be able? Once Kaladin is 'killed' once or twice, I think he can take her out. He can maneuver in the sky far better than she can. Vin having atium is more parallel to have Kaladin having an honorblade.
  12. It will be interesting to see how Listener forms and a secondary higher spren bond make for some interesting resonances. I don't see Venli bonding the Sibling, partly because she is already bonding to Timbre. Also, would this be exactly like a regular Radiant? My suspicion is, that a Nahel bond, is a higher spren bond for humans. There will be corresponding kinds of bonds for Listeners and Aimians. All of which will have different ways they apply the fundamental surges. Listener forms are a kind of bond. I suspect that ancient fabrials are related to Aimian bonds. Of course, we also have human-Listener hybrids who are exhibiting Spren bonds, namely Rock (sees spren, is a squire, and used a Shardbow) and Lopen (Radiant). It will be interesting to see how they are different from regular Radiants) There are also human-Aimian hybrids we have seen very little of. It will be interesting to see how unique their spren bonds are.
  13. I really can't imagine Odium being one of the Bondsmith spren. Why would he be in charge of Urithiru, when they are trying to defeat him? More likely, the Sibling is 50% Honor and 50% Cultivation. Rlain would be a fantastic Bondsmith. He is much better set for that, than for Windrunning. He wants to be a part of everyone else, and he wants to unite with everyone else. Presumably, he would do the same with other Listeners. He is more set on uniting, than protecting. But I also think Taravangian would be an awesome Bondsmith. So, make of that what you will.
  14. I rather suspect that Aimians have something equivalent to a Nahel bond, that allows them to access surges via fabrials. Is it possible that a fabrial, planet-sized, is part of what binds Odium? The Aimians know something. Something about the dawnshards is being hinted at, but I doubt it is as simple as this theory suggests. Also, I still strongly suspect that the Skybreakers were responsible for the Scouring of Aimia, for the same reason they were hunting Radiants. Notice just how little it took for the Aimian that met Lift, to decide to kill some Skybreakers. He didn't have the least patience with them, although he did with Lift.
  15. I do strongly agree that I want to keep Brandon safe. That would be a very ironic end. But I also say, that there is nothing to replace personal experience, especially with something so visceral as a lava world. You need that experience to convey what it really is like, because so few of us have even seen lava, much less an eruption like this. Regardless, Brandon, No Dying!
  16. If Brandon is going to write anything about Ashyn, I hope he takes some time to visit Kilauea while it is still erupting. Even just watching the feeds and videos of the eruption have given me a different perspective on just how intense it is. Ashyn is supposed to be a lava planet, with a number of floating cities, following the destruction alluded to in Oathbringer. This would be getting to see that first-hand. He really needs to do that, IMHO.
  17. I have my suspicions that Skybreaker surges were behind the Scouring of Aimia as well, and that is the most recent.
  18. That is a fine point you are making, but the Shard is still there. It is Tanavast (the vessel) that's dead. Could this affect the Heralds? Possibly, but it didn't appear to slow down Nale. Now, if the dagger steals things, does that mean that the person holding the dagger can access those powers? That is also unclear. But why give it to Moash if it didn't? The only thing I can be completely dogmatic about here, is that it is going to lead to some interesting complications in the next book.
  19. If Kaladin did take the dagger, would he have the full power of a Herald? Does that include unlimited stormlight?
  20. Excited, but I am still trying to tell who doubled their fleet, the humans or the Krell.
  21. I would like to see Kaladin take that dagger and Blade and become a quasi-Herald.
  22. There is a lot to think through here, but one thing that has been on my mind is people, including Brandon, complaining that Feruchemic Brass (which is in the Cognitive Quadrant) storing heat. Heat is unavoidable part of information and computation. The result is usually referred to by Maxwell's Demon. We can also note how entropy (information) is closely tied to energy (heat).
  23. The who could be Adonalsium. It is a mystery who else it could be, but for that matter, it is also a mystery how Adonalsium would be doing this either. But something freaked Rayse/Odium out when he said, "We killed you". Something big is being hinted at. But as for Dalinar becoming Adonalsium, I have to agree with @Calderis It just isn't happening. Hoid has been (probably?) working on this for thousands of years. Dalinar isn't going to to do this in a few years.
  24. Let me suggest two things that should be possible using only the known base metals. (1) If mass, and energy and investiture are all interchangeable (according to a WoB), then does empty space have a zero-point level of Investiture, like it does for energy. Could the appropriate misting be able to drain that, like how the Casimir effect reduces local vacuum energy? If so, that should generate negative space-time curvature. If that is possible, then you could make a Alcubierre drive. This is a Real World theoretical warp drive. Google it! Likewise, can we create negative mass via feruchemy? I suspect that even if we can, that we would need too much mass to be practical. (2) Time-modulation bubbles. If a bubble of accelerated time partly overlaps a bubble of slow time, then we should get space time bending in such a way to create the conditions for a Alcubierre drive.
  25. These God-metals sound like mini-portals or keys to the Spiritual Realm. Using them to become a Mistborn, sounds like burning matches to stay warm. Hoid is old enough, he probably has a much deeper understanding of Investiture. I am sure he can do allomancy, but strongly suspect he was talking about this when he told Frost, that he still had the element with him, and something about having it as close as his skin.
