  1. That is a fine point you are making, but the Shard is still there. It is Tanavast (the vessel) that's dead. Could this affect the Heralds? Possibly, but it didn't appear to slow down Nale. Now, if the dagger steals things, does that mean that the person holding the dagger can access those powers? That is also unclear. But why give it to Moash if it didn't? The only thing I can be completely dogmatic about here, is that it is going to lead to some interesting complications in the next book.
  2. If Kaladin did take the dagger, would he have the full power of a Herald? Does that include unlimited stormlight?
  3. Excited, but I am still trying to tell who doubled their fleet, the humans or the Krell.
  4. I would like to see Kaladin take that dagger and Blade and become a quasi-Herald.
  5. There is a lot to think through here, but one thing that has been on my mind is people, including Brandon, complaining that Feruchemic Brass (which is in the Cognitive Quadrant) storing heat. Heat is unavoidable part of information and computation. The result is usually referred to by Maxwell's Demon. We can also note how entropy (information) is closely tied to energy (heat).
  6. The who could be Adonalsium. It is a mystery who else it could be, but for that matter, it is also a mystery how Adonalsium would be doing this either. But something freaked Rayse/Odium out when he said, "We killed you". Something big is being hinted at. But as for Dalinar becoming Adonalsium, I have to agree with @Calderis It just isn't happening. Hoid has been (probably?) working on this for thousands of years. Dalinar isn't going to to do this in a few years.
  7. Let me suggest two things that should be possible using only the known base metals. (1) If mass, and energy and investiture are all interchangeable (according to a WoB), then does empty space have a zero-point level of Investiture, like it does for energy. Could the appropriate misting be able to drain that, like how the Casimir effect reduces local vacuum energy? If so, that should generate negative space-time curvature. If that is possible, then you could make a Alcubierre drive. This is a Real World theoretical warp drive. Google it! Likewise, can we create negative mass via feruchemy? I suspect that even if we can, that we would need too much mass to be practical. (2) Time-modulation bubbles. If a bubble of accelerated time partly overlaps a bubble of slow time, then we should get space time bending in such a way to create the conditions for a Alcubierre drive.
  8. These God-metals sound like mini-portals or keys to the Spiritual Realm. Using them to become a Mistborn, sounds like burning matches to stay warm. Hoid is old enough, he probably has a much deeper understanding of Investiture. I am sure he can do allomancy, but strongly suspect he was talking about this when he told Frost, that he still had the element with him, and something about having it as close as his skin.
  9. While it is good to know Hoid is not breaking the fourth wall, I wish we had a better idea what he DID mean by that. It is a particularly enigmatic statement.
  10. I have wondered if Aluminum is a Universal Investiture sink, at least for certain shards. In other words, it isn't so much inert, as it is the ground plug for the cosmic Investiture circuit, to compare investiture with electricity.
  11. Keep the "Mr T" part for maximum cryptic-ality.
  12. The only thing I have to say is, I pity the fool.
  13. I was thinking of people in Odium's blindspots, specifically. Certainly, Dalinar and others have received her cultivating as well.
  14. The theory I have been working under is that Taravangian, Renarin and Venli are all the work of Cultivation, and she is working so that her biggest surprises are all in Odium's blindspots. We know shards have things that they are blind to, so this shouldn't be something we can dismiss lightly. Just because you can see into infinity, doesn't mean you can see everything. It is hubris to think otherwise.
  15. I am still trying to figure out exactly what he meant by, “You saw what Ati nearly did.”
  16. I understand that DragonSteel will involve Hoid telling his life's story. I really hope this involves him and Frost sitting down and telling this all to Kryiss. Frost as the grumpy old man (err... dragon), and straight man to Hoid's more comedic side.
  17. If you don't mind me asking, what about it annoyed you/didn't feel thoroughly explained? Oathbringer seemed to be saying that Humans were the original badguys/voidbringers, and that is why the Recreance happened. And the entire collation fell apart because of that. And for this reason, we are wrong to be fighting the Singers/Listeners. That is a weak reason. We have a hard time telling what happened that long ago. How many of us can even point on the map to where the Hittites are from? Or the Mycenaeans? Even if that were entirely true, why would that keep people from fighting the Desolation? There are some WoB that soften this idea, but still, as presented in Oathbringer, it really seemed to be a weak reason for something that is incredibly fundamental to the entire story.
  18. Ok, I concede. I am almost certainly, completely wrong. But I would still like to see the WoB on it.
  19. There is a WoB that exactly that is the case.
  20. I would agree with that. My guesses and hopes for Bondsmiths are Taravangian and Rlain. Rlain for the Urithiru/Sibling specifically. Mr T, because that is the logical thing for him to do, and for the hilarious levels of conflict this will give him with Dalinar. And I still say, Odium should not trust Taravangian.
  21. I would love to see that confirmation. On one hand, it would be insane for Shallan to just leave that in her notebooks. But on the other hand, she really is kind of insane.
  22. Bad books are hard to critique, because there is just so much lukewarm mediocrity. The fact we can criticize, means we have something of quality to begin with. That said, I had some complaints as well. This is not one of my complaints. This death was fantastically anti-climatic, which is appropriate for someone who has been a drunk for the several millennia. It was sad to see someone that powerful and knowledgeable go away that easily, but that really was the right end for him. Plus, now we know can't have all the heralds, they are not completely immortal, and the oathpact is partly in the hands of Odium. I really think Kaladin was too honorable to steal his friend's girl, anyway. He had a bit of a connection there, and some feelings, but this really was Shallan's journey. Kaladin had done very little to act on this triangle. Besides, this book had more than enough Shallan. I would have preferred less of her, honestly. The only reaction we saw was Shallan's. My guess is, we are going to see a lot more Jasnah in the next book. Dalinar's call, but yes, we need to see how everyone reacts here. Kaladin already expressed worries. But mostly, it is a case of too much happening too fast. Fallout in the next book. I would agree with this, or at least that I crave more. This is my number on gripe. Seriously. The Final Desolation happened roughly as far back as the end of the Bronze Age. How many of us can even tell a Sumerian from a Hittite, or what happened with Old Kingdom Egyptians vs the Sea People? This one really annoyed me, but let's see it better explained in book 4. I dig that. There was another thread that complained about Taravangian. But I will just say, Odium should be a lot more suspicious of Mr T, no matter how much he appears to be working for him. Odium talked to Mr T on one of his slow or ordinary days. Just wait for the genius days.
  23. I, for one, am not convinced that is the symbol. It is certainly possible, but it is far from proven.
  24. Consider the description of the voice. How does this sound like Tien? Little brothers, even Tien, don't sound like that.
  25. If they (Knights Radiants) have temporarily saved Roshar, but can see that it is temporary at best, and that the next time around will be worse, then it could be very good writing. Personally, I suspect it is Autonomy working/coordinating with Odium, but that is just my two cents.
