  1. It's a minor spoiler, nothing too big. Don't worry.
  2. I really had to respond to this - all indications are that DALINAR had a VERY unhealthy relationship with alcohol. And alcoholism can be hereditary...
  3. Aluminum gnats have Cosmere wide uses.
  4. Strong bronze can beat a weak copper cloud. No additional supplements necessary.
  5. It should also be noted that Kell has trouble feeling emotions like guilt and grief; he also has trouble connecting emotionally. (He almost certainly is a psychopath neurologically; he just doesn't act like one.) I'm of the opinion that snapping is just as emotional as physical - I think it's the 'being beaten almost to death by your parents' as much as the actual beating. On top of all this, Kell has tremendous ego strength. So ordinary traumas either didn't effect him as they would others, or simply weren't able to create deep enough wounds in his spirit web. It took seeing his wife die in front of him and blaming himself for it, on top of months of trauma and deprivation to break him. So, basically, he's just extremely resilient. Very little effected him to the point of snapping. I suspect that this may change over time, provided he keeps his empathy switch on.
  6. It still took up less space than ONE WoT book. And if we ignore TFE (since he wasn't saving the world there) then Kell only took one novella to save Scadrial. Moiraine took 14 massive books + a prequel!
  7. I mentioned the timelines not working. That's why I think this is a way of letting us know that this is a Scadrian.
  8. My first reaction was "this guy sounds just like Wayne!" Then "wait, timelines don't work... but the similarities are too strong to be a coincidence... hmm... a Scadrian world hopper?" So I'm going with: this is a Scadrian worldhopper. Maybe a Kandra? If not, he's definately part Terris - no mention of Shin eyes. But the fact that Rial sounds just like Wayne only makes sense to me if it as an Easter egg for us Sharders.
  9. A book and a novella. Not quite one book, but less than two...
  10. BOM spoilers: He would definately grab an honor blade if he could get ahold of one.
  11. They are similar in that they are both gaseous investiture. Breath is too. Perpendicularities are liquid and the God metals and Shard blades are solid.
  12. Brandon is actually kind of unclear on this. At best guess in draft A of TFE Kell was supposed to stay dead. By the time Brandon wrote draft A of HOA Kelsier had decided that he was sticking around. (Brandon's annotations mention that Kell doesn't listen to him.) Then Brandon rewrote the books, foreshadowing from epigraph one. By this time Brandon likely had a clearer idea of what he wanted out of the Greater Mistborn series. This is also where the proto SH probably got written and Brandon determined Kell's future role. So... during the initial writing of TFE Kelsier was probably not intended to return. But the Survivor being the Survivor decided to come back anyway... and Brandon had no choice but to write it that way. Hmph. Pushy characters...
  13. @robardin I don't think we need to use TLR for this anymore, seeing as we have a second Fullborn who DOES know about the Cosmere. And he would totally do what you just suggested if he could get ahold of an Honor blade (I'm thinking he would prefer the Lightweaver/Dustbringer/Elsecaller blades though. Iron and steel give you something close to Windrunning already.)
  14. The automata, if they exist, could run on allomantic technology. I would DEFINATELY not put it past a certain someone...
  15. This was already done in HoA's epigraphs. It wasn't explained then, and I don't think it needs to be explained now. Some things can remain a mystery. To a casual reader it's just world building, like Tolkien putting random fragments of myth all over LotR. You don't NEED to read the Silmarillion to enjoy it (though I do recommend giving the book a try.) Besides, it's more comprehensible than random number ciphers! Plenty of people will never even figure out what those say. I doubt it will impact their reading too much. Just us Sharders who MUST crack all the codes and find every last reference, and every possible connection. The rest of the readers will just enjoy the journey...
  16. This was answered once; it's for Wax. But really it's the artist's mistake.
  17. To be fair, before becoming part of its own Era, AoL was a one off with hints to Scadrial's future. So that guess may be rather accurate to the original story. Then AoL expanded into a quartet, but it does seem that many questions will be left for Era 3. However, the serial killer plot will be toned down considerably per some recent WoB. Also some things, such as the introduction of the South Scadrians, the medallions, allomantic technology, Harmonium, and cough -a certain someone's survival- cough, were introduced in BoM and will probably be explored further in The Lost Metal. Initially they would have been introduced in Era 3. So who knows at this point.
  18. Do Kandra make teeth? There doesn't seem to be clarity on it. I'm adding it to my personal list of questions to ask Brandon if he ever comes to NY.
  19. Even better; what if a Kandra made a cartilage skeleton, but used the material in teeth to create a solid core? Would that work as a support?
  20. But they make noses and ears, both of which are formed from cartilage. So they definitely can make it; why not craft a skeleton? BTW, don't Kandra craft teeth?
  21. The problem with that is that Kandra can 'mimic' sperm and eggs, resulting in perfectly healthy human children (though a Kandra mother would have to remain 'human' from conception to birth.) This would indicate that Kandra CAN create the genes necessary for bones and hair. I fail to see how healthy human children could be conceived by Kandra otherwise. Better question - why not create a skeleton from cartilage? Why hasn't this been tried?
  22. Just for fun: there is one other major character who played a role in HoA - see if you can figure it out before moving on. (Note that I needed the annotations, so don't feel bad if you don't. I would have liked to know to look though...)
  23. Which is why I said I don't think it's as simple as tapping it. I think there is a method to 'tap', for lack of a better term, the investiture in the metal Feruchemically, as opposed to Allomantically. But you'd need to do something else first and I'm not sure what that 'something' would be. But if you can access the investiture Allomantically, you should be able to do it Fetuchemically and Hemalurgically. The question is how.
  24. Lerasium and Atium have intrinsic investiture, as opposed to other metals which act as gateways. It SHOULD be tappable; but I don't think it's as simple as there's a store; let's tap. But the investiture is there; accessing it should be possible. We'll hopefully find out more in the future.
