why do people only ever carry a few bottles of metals with them
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Zape's topic in Mistborn
Mistborn Secret History. Which is awesome and a lot of fun. -
This was asked, and the answer was that the Edgedancer would be okay with what Adolin did.

why do people only ever carry a few bottles of metals with them
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Zape's topic in Mistborn
The whole point was that Elend Duralumin burnt Atium allowing him to see into the spiritual realm. SH makes that pretty obvious... Elend was likely flaring his metals the whole time in that fight, which would use them quickly. According to Wikipedia historical Glass knives were forged of obsidian glass. Only in the 1920s were ones of clear glass made. Some surgical scalpels are made of obsidian and it is perfectly fine to call them ‘glass’. The MAG has no ‘glass dagger’ option, only obsidian. Since this seems likely to have been something they asked it is quite possible that all references to ‘glass daggers’ actually refer to obsidian. -

And Zape, you are forgetting that Elend saw all the possible immediate future paths. He COULD have killed Marsh; he chose to die instead, because that would have led to the best outcome. And Vin didn’t actually have to die fully; that was her choice. -

Elend chose to die, as it was the best of the possible options. It was the only thing that would free Vin to kill Ruin. As a general rule people don’t run out of metal. -
Depends. Does implied confirmation count?

That’s weird... in book it is clearly Black and White, and he’s congirmed this before. It has to do with their opposing intents.

Well, Venli becoming a KR is definitely a step toward that.

Resonant Frequencies and the Shattered Plains
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Andy92's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I am now wondering if this wasn’t how the Dawncities were created in the first place. The underlying structure of each city with an Oathgate seems to have some sort of radial symmetry. -

I think you mean A. Bronze? Bronze can be used to sense other forms of investiture.- 7 replies

@Rider of Storms She said ‘the third race from Yolen.’ Yolen is Dragonsteel and the three species were: Humans, Dragons, and Sho Del. The question was with regard to the species of Bavadin, the Shard of Autonomy, who is invested on Taldain. Personally, I think Bavadin is a dragon. Because that would be awesome!

[OB] Source of the Perpendicularity on First of the Sun
Kingsdaughter613 replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Actually, first of the Sun would be land in the Cognitive. Taldain - which is supposed to be inaccessible- would be a sea! -
Aren’t they the Sho Del? They aren’t very aquatic... good at jumping though! (We are allowed to discuss the Dragonsteel chapters on Brandon’s website, right?)

It has to do with who we are looking at and the societies involved. The upper class has done this for centuries and, historically speaking, it worked more often than not. It’s relatively recently that this has changed. BTW, you forget that BoM has two other relationships: Wayne and MeLaan; Marasi and Allik. So that does change the numbers some.

[OB] Shardblades, Intent, and Mayalaran
Kingsdaughter613 replied to valgerth's topic in Stormlight Archive
Actually, Adolin already saw Mayablade as a partner. He thanks her for her help. He doesn’t name the Blade because it has its own. Never knowing otherwise he considered his blade to be an individual and a friend. His biggest mistake was assuming the Blade a ‘he.’ When he sees her is Shadesmar he is initially freaked out. And then he starts worrying about her, watching out for her. He doesn’t want her locked up. It’s an easy transition because, on some level, he has ALWAYS viewed her as a person. So what has really changed? I think Adolin’s unconscious view is now more accurate in two regards. First: he now sees his Blade for the Spren she is. Second: He now views her as female. In addition their connection is strengthened and Maya can ‘see’ Adolin caring for her despite not being able to summon her. They also travel through a Perpendicularity and I think this may have helped some as well, as I suspect her Deadeye form traveled through, merging her severed aspects on some level. But this wouldn’t have worked without a prior existing connection which started the process. (I think the process is easier to start in Shadesmar.) Adolin does think of her as Maya now, not a Blade. I am VERY curious to see how this developes... Three more years to go... -
[OB] Rial - worldhopper?
Kingsdaughter613 replied to CosmereQuestioner's topic in Stormlight Archive
Something that just occurred to me: the Central Dominance had a French Accent. Alethi is a Semitic tongue. When I’ve heard native French speakers speak English there can be a drawl to it. (It has to do with different R sounds, and certain vowel mixes. The O in To can get slightly swallowed as well.) I looked up videos of French speakers speaking Hebrew. I couldn’t find one for Arabic. In the two videos: one woman had a very clear accent, though her speech is smoother than native Hebrew speakers (I loved it!); the other was a man with a much thicker accent. Both could be considered a drawl. So a CD Scadrian would probably sound like he had a drawl if he spoke Alethi. -
[OB] Odium (and Dalinar) (and Honor) (and Cultivation)
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Leyrann's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Bliev I’m out of upvotes, or I would give you one! I love your idea! It makes a lot of sense, and explains the Void aspects. Of course Odium wants to consume those emotions! The Shard hates those things and wants them gone. We seem to have similar ideas about Rayse actually; my instinct was that he hated the idea of Religion in general, God in particular, but was otherwise not that bad a person. Then he became a god... (No, I don’t trust Hoid’s letter. Hoid is not known to be truthful, especially when a lie -or partial truth- serves better. And Rayse was his friend once, so he obviously didn’t always feel this way.) -
[OB] Odium (and Dalinar) (and Honor) (and Cultivation)
Kingsdaughter613 replied to Leyrann's topic in Stormlight Archive
Why is sorrow viewed as a ‘negative’ emotion? The ability to grieve is very important. Mourning is a part of the healing process. It’s actually a very positive force. Odium does not include love; that likely belongs to Devotion (her original name was love, I believe.) Love is not always passionate though, so I don’t see why it would be here. In fact, it’s usually not viewed as such EXCEPT in a romantic context. And take the lust out - which IS part of Odium - and even that is no longer ‘passionate’. Love is a quiet thing, but so essential. I actually usually interpreted Odium as carrying God’s wrath. So ‘Passion’ would not surprise me. You can also be coldly passionate - just look at Jasnah! -
Oh, we know it’s Saze because the letter writer sounds just like him, right down to the ‘Unfortunately, I am...’ type manner of speaking. Saze loves to abuse his commas. I’m uncertain if the writer is Endowment or an unknown female Shard, but I’m leaning towards unknown. I’m feeling confident about Bavadin being letter #2.

[OB] Huge thank you to amazon!!
Kingsdaughter613 replied to princeofravens27's topic in Stormlight Archive
Mine came a day late, but I got a free month extension on my Prime account. And then I discovered that I pre-ordered the Kindle version too... so I finally started reading around 9PM Tuesday and finished at 2AM Thursday. If my son hadn’t had a school interview it would have been faster...
