  1. I could sketch my concept for you, provided you like the general idea, but I’m not sure how it would translate to a tattoo as I’ve never drawn anything for that medium before. Also, I’m not the greatest letterer, so don’t use my letters as a guide.
  2. Actually, a significant portion of our daily calories are used to fuel the brain. 300 calories out of an average of 1300 consumed, are consumed by the brain. +/- 20-50 depending. So if you condense several hours worth of thought into seconds, then it makes sense that you’ll get hungry!
  3. Spike with the word Ruin wrapped around it. The spike has the symbol of Atium. (3) Metal vial with the word Preservation. This has the Lerasium symbol. (1) Bracer with the word Harmony. This one gets the Harmonium symbol. (2) The three are at an angle: 1 2 3 Alongside and beneath is a spear. A medallion is wrapped around the center. The word Survive spirals around it, with marewill flowers sprouting from the words. The medallion is marked with the Malatium symbol. The Spear is pointed upward. Above is an obsidian dagger, crossed with a quill pen (or scroll). These should be marked with a metal pair: either iron and steel or tin and pewter. (The first because of how it represents allomancy in some ways. The other because Elend and Vin help each other gain new perspectives (Tin) and give each other strength (Pewter.)) The dagger would get either Steel or Pewter and the quill would get either Iron or Tin. Dagger and quill point downward. All five images are situated against a background of the Cosmere symbol. The symbol exudes mist that fades outward. (Darker near the center; fainter near the outside. I cant actually draw this for you; I don’t know enough about tattoo drawings. But a good tattoo artist could probably use the concept to create something, even if they haven’t read the books. Other notes: Metal symbols should be in metallic silver ink. (Is that a thing?) Alternatively, Atium could be a metallic red, Lerasium Silver and Harmonium metallic blue. The spear should be silver tipped too. Obsidian is glossy black. Marewill flowers are blue. Mist would probably be a mix of silver-gray tones. I see the Cosmere symbol as an indigo, but that would probably be too dark. Maybe a lighter shade of indigo? Either way, I think this would imply a large part of the Era 1 story, with some hints of the future of the series.
  4. I’m wondering if a fullborn, compounding allomancy, could push or pull on metallic ions, atoms, and molecular compounds...
  5. Hydrogen? It is an Alkali Metal. And can theoretically become Metallic Hydrogen...
  6. Oh, cool! I didn’t realize it had been confirmed.
  7. I’m pretty sure he used this in Warbreaker. Though he downplayed the magic element. He also seems to have used it when telling Kaladin a story.
  8. It hints in a way that doesn’t make any sense without knowing more. The only real spoiler is: Which doesn’t really spoil much in the trilogy, as it isn’t plot relevant at all. It’s backstory stuff, and the books can be enjoyed without it. In fact, I don’t think it’s written in the text; it’s annotations and WOBs.
  9. No, actually. Skaa is the name of the race - which actually is one. The Skaa were genetically distinct from the Nobility at one point. Interbreeding over the past thousand years has changed that, though I’m sure you can find some pure Nobles or pure Skaa somewhere. I don’t recall if that was ever made clear in the books, or if that was just the annotations. Minor Spoiler: There is a LOT going on behind the scenes, and, if you don’t want to be Spoiled, I advice you to stay off the forums until you finish all six published Mistborn books+ Secret History. If you don’t mind being spoiled, stick around! We’re glad to have you.
  10. Thank you for saying it better than I ever could!
  11. A-Iron A-Steel F-Steel. I want to fly and I’m always late. F-Zinc and F-Gold as side ones.
  12. Allik saying the Sovereign told them NOT to look for the bands, which OBVIOUSLY meant they were supposed to look. It was the bit that finally clued me in to the Sovereign’s Identity.
  13. No, it’s about Connection. You need to be Connected - and that’s what Lerasium does. Now, if you are more strongly Connected to a Shard than its Vessel then, provided you knew what you were doing, you might be able to wrest it away from its current holder. The question to ask, obviously, is if Vin knew what she was doing, could she have taken Preservation from Kelsier against his will?
  14. Burning Lerasium causes you to become more strongly connected to Preservation. Do that when Preservation has no vessel and you can ascend. That’s essentially what Kell did; he just had another means of creating that connection.
  15. Something people are forgetting is that our Fullborn may be compounding Pewter. That makes him a lot tougher and harder to hurt. He’s also compounding gold, so he’s constantly healing damage as it occurs. And Zinc, so he’s very aware of everything happening around him and is able to parse out all the information he gets from burning Tin - which is boosted. Silenced guns are still very loud; they just won’t blow your eardrums when you pull the trigger. And the sound is distinctive. I’d suggest trying that during a fireworks display. The sound will blend in. We don’t know how Alluminum spikes work. We don’t know what it means that it ‘removes all powers.’ Hemalurgy takes things; a spike doesn’t grant attributes unless it’s been charged. We are missing something important, and shouldn’t use it as a method until we know more. Regular aluminum wounds can’t be healed until the aluminum is removed. But someone constantly healing could probably survive until they’ve pulled it out.
  16. How do Nomadic nations relate to the Dor? Specifically regarding two examples: 1) The Jewish nation, which has a homeland, but for much of its existence was more strongly bound by the Torah than a connection to Israel (a land most families went almost 2000 years without seeing. Longer, in the case of the Ethiopians.) 2) The Roma who, to my knowledge, do not have a cultural homeland. Finally, would converts to either group be able to access the Dor in the same way born members would?
  17. I would think it should though. It seems like for the Jewish nation it would work because we do have a homeland that we retained a connection to. But would it work for converts? It feels like nomadic nations should have a means of accessing the Dor, but it might manifest differently than for those who have an actual land.
  18. You have to wonder how it would effect a nation without a land or a scattered one, like the Jewish people or the Roma. When you have generations of people who have never seen their land, how does the Dor work? What about a people that never had one? The Torah was a much stronger focus than Israel for much of the past 2000 years; would that mean conversion would allow someone to use the Dor if the Jewish nation existed on Sel? What about someone who joins the Roma? To my knowledge they don’t even have a land; they’re nomadic. How would the Dor effect them?
  19. A Iron/Steel. Who doesn’t want to fly? And F Iron/Steel because: 1) compounding! And 2) I’m always late. Also 3: Wax demonstrates well how F Iron pairs nicely with A Steel and Iron. So really useful all around. Also one of the more dangerous combinations, but that wasn’t why I picked it. (I want to fly+ I’m always late. And Iron is the other half of steel, so that came along on the Feruchemy side.)
  20. This requires a Shard to be sitting around unclaimed though. I suspect that Compounding Duralumin is one way to get a Spren off Roshar...
  21. I wonder if Trellium is similar to Hematite, even if just in appearance.
  22. Nope, did not study Kabbalah. I’m female and I’m too young. Besides my grandfather, who is far more learned than I, says he’ll learn Kabbalah when he understands Chumash-Rashi. He’s still working on it, and I’m nowhere near that knowledgeable. God’s attributes are fairly basic stuff though. You just need to pay attention during prayers. Here’s your WoB: Calamity Denver signing (Feb. 19, 2016) #14 Nashan'Elin (paraphrased) Could Honor and Autonomy be considered opposites, like, Autonomy freeing from Honor's oaths? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Yes, you could definitely think of it that way. Those two are more likely to be opposed than some others. #autonomy #honor It doesn’t confirm them as mirrors, just that they can be perceived as such. I actually think Autonomy making Avatars of itself is a bit of irony, since I do believe it about God in the singular. In this case it’s the unique aspect; God has no body, gender, etc. But the Vessel DID have all these things, and is slowly going insane because its Shard keeps insisting that they DON’T have -or ever had- a body, gender, physical aspects, etc.
  23. No, the metal could be imported from another world. It may not naturally occur on Scadrial at all. @Gilphon I just found a WOB about the alternate ending to WOA. In that ending there were Shards present, one of which was Endowment. While the ending was scrapped (due to not working) some elements may still be cannon.
