  1. I wonder if there were memories on the actual bands...
  2. Are we sure the lord ruler's extremely powerful allomancy wasn't just a result of nicrosil?
  3. That's basically why the northern half of Scadrial (especially Elendel with their prosperity) is progressing slower than the southern half. Anyway, I am pretty sure southern Scadrial was hit hard by the world of ash and everything like the north was. Nothing major happened there since ruin and preservation mostly fought it out in the north, but the planet-wide catastrophes still hit them. For that matter, most of our technological advancements have happened quite recently. Prior to industrialization technology advanced at a much, much slower pace. So it isn't unreasonable to assume that southern Scadrial wasn't advancing rapidly during all that time.
  4. I wonder, how in the lord ruler's name does luck storage actually work? I would guess that there is a lower bound to what you can store. But maybe not. Maybe you can store so much luck that you get struck by lightning on a sunny day and fall over dead. Depending on whether luck storage is what it seems to be, compounding it would be absurdly powerful. I wonder if the lord ruler knew about that when vin killed him... I suppose vin had the backing of preservation itself though.
  5. Granted. You are a very powerful epic. In exchange you experience six days in a coma and one day awake every week. Which day of the week you are awake each time follows a complicated but possibly predictable pattern. I wish for an aluminum spearhead.
  6. Pretty sure he was saying they don't age. Anyway, yes, they do seem similar. I noted that too. I would be quite surprised if they were the same thing for a few reasons. But maybe their similarities aren't a total coincidence...?
  7. So in regard to KR dying... I don't think that kills the spren, otherwise that would have been mentioned. Maybe a bonded spren whose radiant dies will just bond a new person? In regard to hemalurgy... I think I made a note in my copy when I saw that too. It is an intriguing idea. While it isn't supremely likely, that could totally have been a failed attempt at hemalurgy. If anybody on Roshar would know about hemalurgy, it would be the ghostbloods (and one of their members bears a certain similarity to inhabitants of southern Scadrial...)
  8. Accidentally tripping while compounding iron and creating a new shattered plains. Flaring atium for so long you accidentally become ruin. Accidentally soulcasting an airplane into water like Shallan did the ship. Accidentally soulcasting a museum piece into blood. Having somebody grab your shardblade from you and run away with it while you are bonding with it for a week. Making a steelpush bubble to block bullets and accidentally hurling your brand new watch in a canal. Creating a lifeless only to find out that you used the corpse of a deaf person. Accidentally awakening somebody else's clothes with the sixth heightening. Losing all your friends when your store connection in a metalmind. Discovering you are a pinnacle ferring... The magical version of bipolar disorder. Learning to be an edgedancer and not yet able to control your powers... And being subject to uncontrollable bouts of being unable to get a solid grip on anything or walk without slipping for the next few weeks. Getting lots of neat metal related powers... In exchange for having spikes rammed through your eyes and all over you body and looking horrifying. Creating a sentient sword of awesome power and telling it to "destroy evil" only to find out that it really only understands the "destroy" part of the command. Being enthroned as a god... Because you got six spears shoved through you by somebody who was compounding steel.
  9. I am inclined to believe that wit's talking about beginning as an idea is a reference to his false identity (wit is actually hoid, and hoid's real name isn't hoid, that was the name of his master and all). But this is still an intriguing theory, that hoid is some kind of manifest idea. The cosmere is full of sentient manifestations of ideas (shards of adolnasium and all their splinters).
  10. First of all, vin and kelsier together would easily destroy a stormclast I think. I would guess that your average radiant is actually slightly more powerful than your average mistborn (radiants heal wounds absurdly quickly, in the case of windrunners have more controlled flight than allomancy offers, and also in the case of windrunners might have fighting precognition that is worse than atium but still effective). However, this is vin and kelsier, probably the two most powerful mistborn there have been (fullborn may be more powerful but they aren't technically "mistborn"). If a single radiant and their entourage could take out a stormclast and have reasonable expectation of victory while going at it, I imagine vin and kelsier could take one out as well. Second of all, TLR would be able to defeat batman without the slightest effort. Batman is still just a regular human. Finally, I think a chromium misting would be better at negating other people's magic than an aluminum misting. Storms, they might even be able to dispel somebody else's shardblade.
  11. Granted. Sadeas comes back from the dead, travels to earth, and wins the republican nomination instead. You can decide for yourself whether or not that was worth it. I wish for a horrible burden of guilt.
  12. Granted. Your bane is that you are undergoing psychosis, and I am actually one of your split personalities... I wish to become my own distinct being, and to be free of the depths of Car'a'carn's unstable psyche (while leaving the prior banes still resting on him, obviously).
  13. Are they? Such a theory must necessarily require evidence!
  14. Worst when artificial, canned, or (interpret as you like) re-used. Best when made on the spot, or by a professional. Piano tuners in New York are like crystal balls.
  15. Welcome, Pikachu. Also, meet my awakened and slightly hemalurgically involved bla- Hey all you other swords... Please kindly learn to spell. Reading through your notes was painful. Anyway, now you have met him. Does a rather good job of following the commands. You would perform a greater awakening on horse shoes? This is a man of true science. I think you should awaken them with the command "dance a jig" and enter your donkey into a circus show as the main act... Or alternatively a rodeo, if that's your thing.
  16. Also an additional note on this It is easy to say Ameram and possibly even Gavilar were misguided in thinking that the voidbringers returning meant other things like the radiants returning But we should also remember that Nin, Herald of justice, has a quite similar belief... For one reason or other, the presence of voidbringers and the presence of radiants are closely linked to each other. The actions of all these characters imply that you can't have one without the other. Possibly something to do with how the shards invest. They try to maintain a balance, perhaps? The shard of honor is dead, so it would mindlessly try to balance anything odium is doing.
  17. ...lol I was quoting Taravangian's wish. Also fun fact the wizard of oz is actually a monetary allegory
  18. Granted. It just ignores you. I wish for the capacity to save the world.
  19. I'm actually okay with that. I still get to do everything way faster than everybody else, even if I can't turn it off. Granted. Your bane is that you compulsively shove organic matter into your mouth three times a day (if you don't you will eventually die), and also must spend roughly half of each day unconscious (otherwise you find it hard to think and eventually will pass out anyway). I wish for the ability to make the world's best hemalurgic spikes cookies.
  20. Granted. As is your previous, less explicit wish that people made banes that aren't directly related to boons. You are now followed by a small spren-like creature that screams every time you try to lie to somebody or even just give them a false impression. Also, since you technically made two wishes, you also can't feel your chin anymore. I wish for the ability to slow down time for everyone but me.
  21. Oh that was your spirit web. After all those cookies you had, it was really quite easy for me to telepath to you.
  22. You beat me by three seconds... And we basically gave the same curse Granted, you have infinite improvisation skills. However, since you are so talented, all music other people make seems really boring to you. And everyone else finds you music way to complex for them to comprehend or enjoy. I wish for all the future and past stormlight archive novels in hard copy right now, and to have the ability to read them and remember them, without losing them.
  23. Granted. You have a very nice, well constructed mistcloak from the final empire era. Truly a masterwork. As a curse, you are always extremely cold and must constantly wear the cloak to remain comfortable, regardless of your surroundings.
  24. Interesting. Yes, this may be Taravangian's intent. Yet Taravangian's smarter self did specifically say that death rattles were just a distraction. One way or another, gathering them is an attempt to gain additional knowledge... It just strikes me as dangerous that in this case he is actually going against the instructions of the diagram.
  25. I don't want to post anything too much of a spoiler, but I think we know Sanderson is willing to kill main characters. But from what we have seen thus far I am inclined to conclude that such a major character is unlikely to die until near the end of the story. Still, we can't be sure that any of our main characters won't die. Well, I personally think Dalinar is least likely to be killed, but even so...
