Heal Terry, bleed Bleeder. The diagram is coming to fruition... 9. Bleeder- 30 15. Taravangian- 70 -
In regard to Secret History, I would personally support the reading it after Era 2. As Oversleep noted, Secret History contains a spoiler for Bands of Mourning. More importantly in my opinion, however, is that it's actually kind of nice to give Secret History a read when it has been a while since you visited the first Mistborn trilogy. Reading it like this reminds you a lot about the story, even though it is still new content. I suppose for this ends, you could just reread the first trilogy after the second one, but Secret History is perhaps a nice alternative if it hasn't been too long. In regard to the major series. I would probably just say read Stormlight Archive after you have read the other ones. The existing Stormlight Archive books are best read after you have at least read the first mistborn trilogy and Wabreaker. Beyond that the order in which each series is more or less interchangeable.

Hm... Heal Terry, bleed Bleeder. 9. Bleeder- 32 15. Taravangian- 68 -
I remember I first actually read Elantris. It was a pretty good book, although I never really took very much note of the author at that point. Then later completely independent from this, I discovered the mistborn trilogy. It was perhaps one of the best series I had ever encountered. Then I realized they were both written by this guy called Brandon Sanderson. And subsequently read the SA books, warbreaker, and emperor's soul.

Daniyah championed Mraize well. Also... If it should add up to 100 we might actually still have a small mistake in the system at the moment... -

Alright. We'll go off of Zizoz's account because I think he looked back further than I did. From there, we have a few actions taking place: 1. Heal Mraize, Hurt Taravangian 2. Hurt Mraize, heal Taravangian 3. Hurt Mraize, heal Taravangian 4. Hurt Mraize, heal Taravangian The net effect is +2 on Taravangian, -2 on Mraize since Zizoz's calculations. This leaves us at... 9. Bleeder- 36 15. Taravangian- 65 19. Mraize- -1 So Mraize is actually negative. He is dead by now I think. For future changes, we can go off this: 9. Bleeder- 36 15. Taravangian- 65 Now please lets stick to the two minute rule. -

Rust and ruin... Every one of you is getting ninja'd. Can we please try and keep the two minute rule perhaps? This is the current state of things if we track the last few posts, I believe. I won't apply any changes; this is just updating the data. Taking this into account, the only post of the last few I didn't factor in was one of WayneSpren's because I'm not sure what you meant to do. 9. Bleeder- 36 15. Taravangian- 62 19. Mraize- 2 -

theory Vasher Owns an Honorblade
DrakeMarshall replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well we already know that nightblood does indeed grant such an ability... And in his case that happens to be the order of skybreakers, which is perhaps rather compatible with nightblood's personality. As a returned, the resultant powers... Well it could be that he thus gains the power of one of the orders, but then nightblood is a lot more like a shardblade then Vasher's soul is (also on this topic, I wonder if Szeth is bound by conventional radiant oaths... I would guess he is but then with nightblood it is hard to tell). One way or another... The ability to absorb stormlight implies access to some kind of surgebinding. Vasher is probably a bit more important than we think he is in all of this. As for the missing honorblade... There are so many secret agendas on Roshar... It will be very interesting to see where this crops up later. I suppose the timelines imply that Vasher could not have been using that honorblade to live off stormlight all this time, but some other group then will possess an extremely dangerous weapon, considering that the blade doesn't require the user to keep oaths.- 34 replies

It's a good trailer. Perhaps longer than most, but it's storming good. Well of Ascension was inherently a pretty complicated book so it wouldn't have been an easy task.

theory Vasher Owns an Honorblade
DrakeMarshall replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Oh yeah I forgot about the one Taln had... Although... Did Taln actually return with the blade? We know he had a shardblade but I think it was actually not an honorblade because it screamed when Dalinar dropped it to bond the stormfather. And also, Taravangian might not actually have been lying when he said one disappeared... The findings of the thread, of coarse, do make the honorblade theory less likely. It is still possible but it is less likely. Which means we are still without a completely satisfactory answer for how Vasher is absorbing stormlight...- 34 replies

Well, it's an interesting idea and I like the names you have for these things. And some of the quirks to moonlight magic are actually fascinating. Could work out pretty well as a story. Although, I do wonder if perhaps the magic systems are a little too powerful? It would seem to me that within this list of powers you have encompassed the ability to do virtually anything. Now, it also seems like no single person will have access to all these powers, and plus their are limitations with practice and fuel in the form of starlight. This is good. Even so... Some basic physical enhancements combined with the ability to push around bits of metal were enough to make mistborn legendary beings.

Fun fact: did you know there was actually a literary form very similar to the ketek in the ancient world? The idea was that it sort of repeated itself after a certain point, and the thing in the very middle was always the most important and emphatic statement. One contemporary example of this is some of the psalms found in the bible. Also. What are the odds that someone here in school writes and submits a ketek for a poetry assignment? Anyway. Lets try for writing some ketek. Not sure what to write, so lets warm up with a ketek about writing ketek. Not knowing what to write, I make a ketek, holy vorin poetry, a ketek I make, writing what I do not know. Hm... Perhaps one for the passage of night and day. Light surrounds, the night recedes, the sun sets, recedes to night, surrounds light. And here is a "ketek" that is likely extraordinarily sacrilegious to vorinism : Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination, death is my life, the strength becomes my weakness, the journey has ended.

Heal Taravangian, bleed Bleeder The diagram said he would win! 9. Bleeder- 36 15. Taravangian- 59 19. Mraize- 5 -
As I recall, there is a WoB out there that states that Vasher/Zahel survives on Roshar using stormlight to fuel his life instead of breath. Well, that all makes sense. I can see why one kind of investiture would be as good a fuel as another. I suppose absorbing stormlight is very convenient for a returned Vasher, because it is a lot less rare than breath, plus he probably has access to it's healing properties and the like. But. How exactly is he absorbing stormlight? Regular people don't do that! So. The fact that he can absorb it in the first place only has a few possible explanations. Each of them have very interesting implications. Let us examine them. Explanation 1: There is a trick that will let anyone absorb stormlight, and only Vasher knows it (maybe some kind of fabrial...?). This trick is how he is able to breath stormlight. This would be extremely interesting because that means everyone can theoretically use a ubiquitous resource on Roshar to gain supernatural strength, speed, and healing. This is fairly unlikely, because I can't really see how the story would work if some day people figure this out, and then everyone on Roshar is suddenly superhuman. Explanation 2: This has something to do with the fact that Vasher is returned. Somehow, his status of returned is letting him breath stormlight. I have no idea why being returned would let him do this, but it seems like a sensible explanation. This would also in turn mean that a lot of returned would probably find it convenient to move to Roshar. I would probably say this explanation is the second most likely, even though the mechanism for how this could work is (at least right now) unclear. Explanation 3: This one is quite unlikely. But possibly why Vasher can use stormlight is because he is actually a radiant. Perhaps after the events in Warbreaker, he eventually became one of the first radiants, probably around the time Jasnah was discovering her powers. I doubt it, but we can't rule it out I suppose. Explanation 4: This one is in my opinion the most interesting. And I believe it is also the most likely option. Vasher has an honorblade. Most honorblades are held by the Shin (one of them of coarse being wielded by Szeth), but there is also reason to believe that some of them are missing from the Shin. When Taravangian was lying to Szeth about one of the blades disappearing (to explain Kaladin's powers), I think he said something like "one of the eight" disappeared. That means the Shin own eight of the ten. I am pretty sure Nalan has one of the missing blades, because Lift witnessed him wield a shardblade and use stormlight. I believe Vasher secretly owns the second missing blade. That lines up with everything we know so far. And this happens to be the only known mechanism for someone who doesn't take radiant oaths to be able to do what Vasher is apparently doing. So, in conclusion, Vasher probably owns an honorblade I guess. He seems to have some kind of affinity for extremely invested swords.

theory A Crazy Theory on Kandra
DrakeMarshall replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Local focuses are a tricky business. I mean, would an allomancer on Roshar need to burn gemestones as well? I kind of think not. You see, the magic system allomancy is not really only a product of preservation. It is a product of the interactions between the shard of preservation and the planet scadrial, as I understand it. This would mean that the planet the magic is from still matters if you are on a different planet. So probably either the magic wouldn't work on a different planet, or (more likely, given what we know of worldhoppers like hoid) the magic would simply keep it's native focus. I know vasher can live off of stormlight, but I bet he still needs biochromatic breath to perform awakening. Investiture is investiture, and I suppose it doesn't matter what kind if you are just going to consume it. But to perform actual magic I imagine the focus remains that of the source planet.- 23 replies
