  1. Or Gavilar. Or Taravangian.
  2. You could cast Adam Driver as anything, and he would do a good job.
  3. Given that the worldbuilding is very complex, I’d say that it is a good thing that he speaks so much. It creates great interaction between him and the community, and his answers are times things that spawns more questions than they answer. What I can see though, is that there are tons of WoBs for people who are new to the fandom to go through in order to learn everything. It can defenitely be seen as a steep learning curve for some.
  4. Good point! Still my issue remains. Just the fact that she is ahead of everyone else adds to her ”I am the best at everything” feel.
  5. Right, gotcha, sorry. Then we agree. The Skybreakers are defenitely not as... understanding as the Windrunners.
  6. Some people thinks she has Plate, which would mean oath 4, presumably. I doubt that, and I also hope that isn’t the case. Jasnah is overpowered as it is compared to the others. So my guess/hope would be 3.
  7. I dont think Skybreakers are supposed to be pure spirit of the law. Nale is, and he is an insane and corrupted Skybreaker. Szeths book will be really interesting...
  8. That can theoretically happen. They could become worldhoppers.
  9. It will have an ending. Brandon has said that it won’t be Avengers-style, with all characters joining forces to fight a common bad guy. But, presumably, the story of Hoid and the Shards will be resolved in the final Mistborn books.
  10. Welcome to the forums! This idea has been quite popular with some (while others like @RShara kind of doesn’t really like it very much ). I can personally see merits with it, but I also remember reading Sharas thread and seeing her points. As for Nale, I think he bonded his spren after the (not so) Final Desolation, and thus it never had to transition with him to Braize. Wether or not Syl would be able to join Kaladin on such an endeavor is unclear.
  11. Racist thoughts, yes. To be fair though, I think all societal groups (white people, black people, christians, muslims, rich people, poor people, etc) all have biases and ideas for and against other groups. I’d argue that doesn’t make you racist however. In that case, everyone is racist, and thus the word loses a lot of its meaning. As for your comments on conservatism, you make good observation. I identify as a conservative (do note: not in an american context, since I’m not american) and have always considered the core of it to be a healthy dose of skepticism towards societal change, along with valuing traditions and older ideas quite highly. Sure, there is much elitist ideas in there too, but I wouldn’t personally consider those the core of the ideology.
  12. Reading stuff like this conversation between @agrabes and @NattyBo makes me happy to be part of this community. Respectful, kind, open-minded.
  13. Dont know how digging would help with that.
  14. I like the idea that Gavilar could unite Roshar by harnessing the powers of the KR and the Unmade. That said, I don’t believe BAM is in those spheres. I think she is locked in a gemstone under Kholinar, which is why Odium is organising an excavation in there. The Voidbringers aren’t just digging for the fun of it.
  15. Despair sounds like a cool Shard name to me.
  16. I should have phrased it better: isn’t doing public activism.
  17. I do think that the method of gathering squires is different between the Orders. As OP pointed out, Skybreakers, for example, has a very formal way of doing things. Windrunners, meanwhile, seems to be more ”oh, I share the ideals of the KR and I’m hanging out with him, and now I can FLY!” So I think the process depends on your Order.
  18. Is it problematic that I want to be a Skybreaker?
  19. I am very happy with Brandons answer to this, as he echoes my feelings. Celebrity culture is, to me, something that at times feels quite fake and more like a trend thing (especially considering that all of them generally push in the same direction no matter the question). But protesting the injustice that black people are facing is important. So, as Brandon himself seems to think, this is a delicate matter, and I think that being careful about using your voice, as a celebrity with a ton of fans, is a very good thing. It shows both humility and a sense of responsibility. It also means that whenever Brandon actually does comment on things, we know that it is genuine, and thought-through. I am really glad that Brandon isn’t the type to try and shepherd his fans into a political party or opinion, and also that he thinks before he talks. I notice that a lot of celebrities, some of which I love, are adding toxicity to debates, which I think is the really dangerous thing. I hate the incredibly polarized debating climate, and at times, I am truly confused by how so many good people with platforms add to that polarization. I guess I’m mostly just glad that Brandon is more of the ”I don’t really do activism” kind of guy.
  20. First off, thanks to Chaos and all the mods for keeping the place up and running. Its really amazing. The best memories I have from here is the OB release hype. The chapter discussions were amazing. I would rush home from school to read, and then log on to the forums and post. There were tons of great jokes there too. @Argent especially never ceased to amaze. Another awesome thing is all the nice people on here. I can count the times I have encountered someone I found genuinely unpleasant on one hand. @Calderis, @Steeldancer, @Nathrangking, @hoiditthroughthegrapevine, @Extesian, @Pathfinder, @maxal, @RShara and so many others are all amazing people. The discussions in the thread for stupid ranks with Cal, when Steel and I became a hivemind, the Amaram debates with Pathfinder... wow, so much fun. My proudest moments are probably the Hemalurgic Beaver thread, and my post on Amaram, which people who really dislike the guy thought was well thought out. Thanks, and may there be another ten years (and then more!) (Also, @Chaos, we should have a big 17th anniversary in seven years... you know, 17th Shard, 17th Anniversary... you get it).
  21. Edgedancer. Thats pretty cool, even though I hate playing the medic in games I was hoping for Skybreakers, and I do think that I might fit them rather well.
  22. Taravangian is very good at theatre. Better than Sadeas or Amaram, and also more genuine than either of them. He convinced Dalinar that he did it for the greater good, and I think most others will be convinced too, with the exception of people like Kaladin who is very much controlled by his desire to protect people at all costs.
  23. We don’t know that. Ash is dark-skinned with shin eyes, while Jezrien is a bit darker than your regular Alethi. Something is also ”off” about his Alethi appearance, which could be potential Shin-eyes (isn’t it confirmed that all Heralds have those). Even if they aren’t very similar to eachother, Ash has a mother. She could just take after her. Personally, I think its a good observation. I’d guess that Jezrien is a little older than he looks. Brandons comment on how ”they look their age”, is after all, made in a signing queue. He might have just generalized, and gave the answer that was correct for the majority of them. I think Ash is Jezriens biological daughter. Adopting someone who would be around ten years younger than you (assuming he is thirty and she is twenty) would be kinda odd too, I think.
