    Moash tried to kill Elhokar for personal revenge. He was not out for Sadeas, whose every action was horrific, or Szeth, who was whacking kings all over Roshar. He wanted the one guy who had indirectly wronged him by being incompetent. Graves was there to make the world better, but I dont buy that Moash was.

    The reason for why I dislike Moash (don’t hate, but dislike) is his inability to see beyond himself and let go of grudges. He is whiny, selfish and doesn’t even try to make the world better. He has been confronted with choices that would allow him to let go and move on time and time again, and yet he just keeps on being bad because that is so much easier in the moment. If you look at other villains in the series, most of them are out for something more than themselve. Taravangian and Graves wants to save humanity, Amaram wants to restore Vorinism, Sadeas, at least sometimes, wanted to build a strong Alethkar. But Moash only wants to help himself, and that has been his objective from day 1.

    Recently, I have been considering Sam Claflin as Kelsier. He looks the part, is about the right age, and can pull off the charisma (Finnick in Hunger Games). Also, Zach McGowan would make a cool Marsh. He is Roan on The 100, among other stuff.

    I would recommend following the weekly releases. They were the high point of the week for me with OB (and I was iffy about reading pre-chapters at first). And the discussion threads on here were so much fun too.

    I apologize if my last comment seemed stupid, and I obviously agree that people who actively seeks to harm gays are criminal pieces of crem, with serious issues. My point was more aimed at that if you use the word homophobia too widely, and on too many people, it might start to lose its meaning somewhat. In addition, the word carries a very negative meaning, and I don’t believe in applying that to everyone who doesn’t view various HBTQ-issues the same way that you do, which is why I commented in the first place. Applying negative terms to people who thinks differently is a pet peeve of mine, and I’ll blame that on the fact that such behavior is quite common where I come from. I am fine with dropping this issue (regarding the defenitions and use of the term homophobia) now. Don’t want to cause a situation that might lead to the mods having to come and calm things down. Stay safe folks!

    Fair enough. Your moral is your moral :-) I am just bothered when people refer to religious people as homophobic, when they are just following their faith. Furthermore, if you use the word homophobic on Brandon Sanderson, what word should you use on people who wants to lock up or kill gays for their sexual orientation? If we spread the word too thin, it won’t really mean much at the end of the day.

    Many religions do think that a variety of different sexual relationships and activities are morally wrong, which was what I was trying to get to. Furthermore, many religions also teach that all humans are sinful. Every single one of us. That is the thing: telling gay men to die from AIDS is defenitely homophobic. I do not deny that those kinds of opinions exist among religious people today: they do. But for the average mormon/muslim/catholic etc, that is a morally reprehensible statement. The vast majority are not homophobic. My point was mostly that the christian opposition to stuff like gay marriage is based on scripture, but there are certainly a ton of different ways to interpret the Bible.

    This will probably lead to a discussion, but here we go anyway, because I find this to be a really flawed statement. Brandon is a mormon, and mormons, like a bunch of other religious communities, both christian and others, consider marriage to be something that can only exist between a man and a woman. Men sleeping with men and women sleeping with women is also regarded as sinful (as is having sexual relationships before marriage). This is very much rooted in various religious scriptures. If I remember Brandons early statements on the subject right, this was basically what he said as well. He followed the teachings of the mormon church (correct me if I’m wrong here). So, my issue is this: labelling younger Brandon homophobic means labelling tons and tons of religious people and institutions as homophobic, just for having a different idea regarding what right and wrong is. The majority of the ”homophobic” religious people do not hate, persecute or lock up gay people. The ones who does that, who consider people with a different sexual orientation to have less value as humans, those are homophobic. Those who just have different ideals regarding what the right way to live your life is, but also respect everyones right to do as they please, are not homophobic: they just have a different view of life than you. So, TL;DR, don’t apply a negative label to a huge amount of people from specific groups due to them seeing the world through a different lense than you do.

    Grand Admiral Thrawn, who I wouldn’t call a villain, at least not in his new iteration (except for when Filoni storms up the writing) is defenitely an antagonist who is awesome in every way. Kylo Ren is also a brilliantly crafted character, maybe the most complex in Star Wars. Arthas Menethil in Warcraft is the best Fallen Hero story I have seen. Pure gold. Thanos has already been mentioned, but Loki, Killmonger, Toomes and Beck are all awesome MCU villains. Charles Pike in The 100 is an awesome antagonist as well, in that he is a guy who, from his view, does the right thing, and also, personality-wise is just as much a good guy as many of the main characters. And the flashbacks with him are heartbreaking.

    I think a reason for the hate in video gaming communities is that video games are quite famous for objectifying people, especially women. Recent ads for Raid: Shadow Legends have been doing this for example, by mostly showing very lightly dressed female heroes who have bodies like supermodels. And that is just an example. People are (rightly, in my opinion) protesting this, sometimes for feminist reasons (it is sexist) and sometimes because objectifying people is generally seen as bad. Then add the fact that video game communities are often quite toxic in general for some reason, and you have your answer as to why you can get hate in those communities. My opinion on these kinds of issues is that sex and nudity are parts of life, and as such, will figure as a factor in fiction which portrays life. However, I think that any kind of gratitious/pornographic portrayal is wrong. I dont agree with looking at/watching/reading things for sexual reasons either. I am a fan of GRRMs characters and storytelling, but his sex scenes, not so much.

    Poor Vivenna is taking an unfair beating... I don’t think that she is robbed by going down against Dalinar, but she deserves more than 10%.

    Fair enough, that is some good evidence. However, he says that he has been enjoying writing Navani ”lately”. That doesn’t mean that she is who he is writing currently. He also doesnt specify wether he has been writing her as a POV or not (though I agree that POV is more likely). Furthermore, I just dont see how Kaladin, Navani and Venli could logically have an arc together. I will add that I also am a bit biased against the idea, since I feel rather meh about her character. I dont dislike her, but I just dont think that she is very interesting.

    I have made a bracket for voting on a favorite Cosmere character, and want to see if this works.
