It's not about the amount of spoiler tags, really. It's about the amount of posts in conversation consisting of almost only spooiler tags. So your "spoiler conversation length" is 1, since it's only one post. I'm talking about people discussing something spoilery; then somebody who doesn't want to read the spoilers has almost nothing to read. Then he writes down the number of unreadable posts. That's the SCL.

Maybe try "What If"? If you're lucky, Randall may take on the subject.

I guess these events wouldn't be so bad for me if I had read Alcatraz... Well, maybe some day either some publisher will get them translated or I will feel I need to get a book not in my language shipped here for an insane amount of money. I don't do ebooks.

I wonder whether it was brought up: some countries are more likely to have certain religions. So the poll won't reflect actually the religion - Sanderfan connection worldwide. For it to be truly reflective of the distribution of religion of the Sharders, we'd have to differentiate for the country. For example, I wouldn't expect many Mormons from Europe. Since this is a English language forum and Sanderson books are primarily known in USA, I guess most Sharders are from USA. So unfortunately the poll is inconclusive

And so it starts again... I think we should record every spoiler conversation and give prizes for the longest.

But their Aspects aren't wiped out completely, aren't they? Something could pass on.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

When the words "lerasium spike" and "lerasiummind" are haunting you. I NEED TO KNOW, BRANDON! *goes back to cracking Steel Alphabet* -
The power obtained from a given amount of metal is constant. However, the faster you burn it, the more power over time you obtain. Duraluminum and nicrosil force the burned metal into superflare - the metal is burned all at once and all the power you can obtain from it is released in this brief moment. It seems logical that the more metal you have the more power you will get, but the more we approach the limit of infinitely short moment, the less relevant it becomes. But I wonder what would happen if we lined up nicrobursts and each nicrobusted the one standing before him? The second one would have his nicrosil in superflare, so his nicrobusting would be very powerful. With that very powerful flare he nicrobursts the next Nicro. And so on, and at the end we have a Misting of another metal. I wonder how much power can be obtained with such a brief superflare?

*Copperminds. He has gone great lengths to incorporate them into his books, so we at least could use correct terminology. I wonder who else Brandon spiked for writing speed apart from Rothfuss and Martin?

ask her out to deadpool, it's already in theaters and it's a romantic comedy. Like romantic superhero black comedy... So what would be a good idea for first date? I don't know myself. -
theory Kaladin's Chapter header is a nod to the Steel Alphabet

Or one of the hundreds of other possible godmetal alloys. I think it's just coincidence. -
I say storing physical speed alone makes you trapped in slow body, while storing mental speed alone makes you a slow thinker. Storing both zinc and steel (at the same storing rates) makes you slow thinker in slow body, so it cancels itself out a bit. You don't experience body lag nor body lag, but at a whole you're slower than universe around you.

How many Nalans are we really seeing...? (WoR Spoilers)
Oversleep replied to pharaoh9000's topic in Stormlight Archive
He is a millenia-old immortal Herald with bunch of unseen yet Surgebinding fabrials and is himself capable of Surgebinding. He probably has figured out multiple ways of travelling so quickly (Transportation fabrial, Basic Lashing, who knows what else?). He is one of ten most experienced Surgebinders ever. As for his minions: probably Skybreakers 2.0 are scattered around the world, that way he has help in most places he appears. Probably they help with investigations. I'd like to add that he seems to be able to sense Investiture (or only Stormlight). He reacted when Lift metabolized food into Stormlight, even without looking at her and her not showing any sign of glowing. If he can do that, it would certainly be helpful in tracking down Surgebinders.- 33 replies

Some Thematic Speculation on Shallan in book 3
Oversleep replied to KnightGradient's topic in Stormlight Archive
...But why character's plot has to ultimately result in his/her death? I understand points about Kaladin's story being quite exhausted, but not yet. Even if his progression is over, that doesn't mean he has to die. He will be given just less screen time, operating his Windrunner Task Force, appearing in other character's viewpoints. I feel more excited to read what else Brandon has in stock for our characters instead of killing them off 'because somebody has to die'. Nope. This isn't ASOIAF death-driven plot. Some secondary characters may have it harder, especially those with ties to the primary characters. Death of the relative/beloved can be a hardship for the character. And Everstorm looms, some people can die and we will watch main characters experience it, struggling with it while fighting Desolation and at the same time mourning their lost. ... ... nonononoNONONONO, DON'T YOU DARE KILL NAVANI! .... -
...Aren't we being pretty spoilery with events of SoS so much in the open?

If kandra had somehow attained gold feruchemy (or became a Radiant), how would healing work? We know that those healings work by alligning Physical self with Spiritual self filtered by Cognitive Self. There is a number of questions to be asked: since kandra were/origin from humans, could extreme healing convert them to be human? since kandra are shapeshifters, I suppose their Cognitive self must be pretty weird. How do they view themselves, actually? They can become anyone they want, that has to have some impact on Cognitive self. How would healing work? mistwraiths had this Cognitive blockage going on. Blessing are a way to bypass that, but I guess it isn't working 100%. Would that create problems for kandra? If mistwraiths had healing, how would that work with that blockage?

Can we just agree that steel stores the speed of the body (including processing speed of senses and so on) but not the mind and zinc stores speed of the mind? Tapping zinc doesn't directly increase processing speed of the body (nerves and such), but sped up mind indirectly allows to achieve effect similar as if it did. That's why tapping speed gets you bullet time and why tapping zinc somehow overlaps on that.

Intent of the Shard specifies how Investiture is obtained. So to become an Elantrian you have to be devoted. Dakhor runs on sacrifices - dominating another person. Perhaps other blends of Devotion and Dominion are possible. There was also that grand theory on Devotion and Dominion as identifying with your country as the cause of so many subsystems of Dor. Surgebinding requires Oaths (and Bonds in the first place), Breaths are obtained by being endowed to you, Allomancy preserves yourself, Hemalurgy requires ruining... It's not about what it does or where energy comes from, but how you obtain it.

Let's assume human mind is composed of two attributes: genius level and the mental speed. Einstein surely had a high genius level, but I cannot say anything about his mental speed. That's where zinc comes in handy. Now, let's find another person with moderate genius level but extraordinary mental speed. He may not be able to make great discoveries; if he tries to solve a complex equation, he will struggle, he may not see the solution as a genius would see at the first glance, but he would be fast to work through the equation by standard methods. That's what zinc does. Think of zinc that way - you will not be able to do anything out of ordinary which normally you couldn't do, but instead of figuring something out for few days, Zinc Compounder would have it done in few minutes. You take the end result which you can achieve and just compress the time needed to do it.

I see I need to finish my Feruchemy theory I took on some basic mechanisms of Feruchemy there, since there are some misunderstandings. Unfortunately, I have no way to acquire BoM, so some metals will be left out, but I think I can provide some insight into Feruchemy... I may have started that topic just to watch people argue about different Feruchemical attributes.
