Well, it's because they have the right genes. Feruchemical blood, if you will. The real question is how did the first Terrisans obtain Feruchemy?
-
That's... not how it works. (x^x)' = x^x * (log(x) + 1) The formula for (x^a)' works for "a"s which are not a function of variable.

Actually the greatest advantage of being able to flight is the speed. Flying speed >> running speed. Even if you had to fly wround the buildings, going the same path as the runner, the flier will arrive at destination much earlier. Phasing, totally forgot about that. Generally all the characters who Do Not Need A Door - so going through walls, either by phasing (Shadowcat) or just knocking them down (Juggernaut).

I once made a presentation named "Basic guide to Internet Safety". I don't know how to get a powerpoint file here, so I'll transcribe. Thanks for your attention. P.S. Do NOT write the passwords down! What's the point of having strong password if you put it at the sticker at your desk?

Okay, why's everybody so entranced with Nightblood? Yeah, he can destroy Investiture and destroy things on all three Realms at once, but he's pretty unusable as anything other than a grenade. You'd be much better off with a Shardblade.

Probably depends on the way you see yourself - compare Kaladin's brands and Lopen's arm.

Yeah, I know: Are you implying that Alakavish "going rogue" caused Desolation? I doubt it.

No, seven with Shin. Jezrien's Honorblade is in Urithiru now. One Herald reclaimed his own. Talenelat has his own, whoever and wherever he is.

So, let's say you need your heroes to get around the city. On their own, so preferably no public transport and if they had a car, they wouldn't need a special way, right? So, what are your ideas? Or what interesting solutions have you seen? Of course, flight and teleportation does not need to be pointed out. Other interesting ideas: Of course, Lurching and Steelpushing (IIRC Newton in Reckoners did something similar to Steelpushing) parkour (for example, Assassin's Creed and Mirror's Edge). It's mostly running, but an efficient one and can get you to places normally unavailable grappling hooks to swing around (superheroes, the most famous: Spiderman. Also, metalbenders from Avatar) inFamous 1 & 2 had Cole who manipulated electricity - he jumped on tram traction and slided around

Isn't it going like this? First Class -> Days Of The Future Past -> Apocalypse? I have so many films to catch up on if I want to see Civil War. Well, at least I'm up to date with X-men, so I can go to Apocalypse, I think.

Skybreakers. Their name coresponds to both of their Surges. Also, I find the name of Edgedancers to be poetic - they have Growth (and Regrowth), they balance on the edge between life and death. But yeah, Abrasion and sliding around also works.

The way I see it, there are two options. One: the voidspren in Surgebinding. It's basically like atium used in Allomancy, so it would create a different set of powers and oaths for the Surgebinder. Two: the human would bond the voidspren and become user of the Void system, which we know almost nothing about.

First off, he should have told you what type it should be. Second, the wizards of the computers always advised to save often, keep a backup and if somebody else is to open it, either know the file type or make copies in various types. Can't you go to your computer and resave it in another format? -
The thing with gas lanterns is that you can't turn them on/off remotely. There is a man (called lamplighter) who goes around the city every dusk and lights every one of them up and then on the dawn does the opposite. What inspired the idea for Lanternlight was how all the lights turn on at the same time, every single one of them in the whole city - in steampunk I have to have lamplighter. Well, unless I find out how gas streetlights were ignited remotely (because wikipedia says that 'later designs were self-igniting'). BTW, if you search 'gas lighting' on wikipedia, the first picture showing the street lantern... is from my city. Yeah, in my city the Old Town has gas lamps. And we have lamplighters (I even saw one of them, twice!). How cool is that? --------------- Anyway, I don't want the inhabitants of the city to rush home at the first sight of nightfall. I want the city to be always alive, no matter what time is it. I don't want to have some Lovecraftian city lights system either. On the other hand, I need the lights to be always lit at the dusk and not be messed with. I need to think about it more. But I think it's cool. I'll keep thinking. -------------- As for the Soulsmiths, today I had an idea for suicide mechanism. Well, not suicide. At least that's not what the mechanism is for. You know the trope that in the hour of greatest need one of the heroes unleashes a lot of power but pays the price with their own life, because power destroys them? I think I know how to make it work. (hint: it shares some similarites with Allomantic savantism)

Did I link to Koko already? He is doing webcomics. I advise to start with A Quartz Bead. Currently running is Stick In The Mud, the oldest one (that is, the oldest one avalaible in English) is Sawdust. Enjoy!

Quick idea (IDK how to incorporate it into Soulsmiths, so I'm gonna leave it here or do something independent): all the magic/supernatural/weird/technobabble stuff activates precisely when the city lanterns are lit and ceases when they turned off. It can serve as explanation for Fear Of The Dark (a thing to consider: why is the city still lighting the lanterns at all? why not just go dark in the night?) and also creates a nice, cyclical mood. Also useful for suspense, as for example battle won't start until lanterns are lit. How about Lanternlight? I was thinking about modern setting with electrical lamps, but I guess gas lamps and steampunk setting can also work.

Oh, and Young Justice was uncancelled and made another 3 seasons and Gravity Falls got a spiritual successor. Of course, I was not aware of that. I just imagined a story: I am being photographed by papparazi I never notice and all the newspapers (exactly those that I don't read at the moment, of course) are going with the "Look how down-to-earth and humble our president is, he's still learning hard at his university/working at his job as if he isn't running the country". Hm, this has some comedic value... --- Or another angle, to add a darker spin to that: I learn that I don't have to stay up late to do things now that chronic lack of sleep has made permanent damage That is quite dark, you know?

Or I'll win the presidential elections... without knowing I was running for president until the day of my inauguration

Feruchemical nicrosil Twinborn... with a medallion charged with Allomantic duralumin. not only he's on of the very few Allomancers who can duralumin-burn their metal, he's also a Soulbearer, so he can tap nicrosil and strengthen his Allomancy. I think such combination would give a level of power (of that one metal) at or even above TLR.

I am starting to get suspicious... because I suspect I may have become a main protagonist of some bad manga which whole plot is on the foundation of said protagonist being unobservant/clumsy (I don't know how to say it). Basically, he always learns about new things last, like he somehow misses all the vital info at school/uni, if somebody is throwing a party (and not hiding with it) and everybody knows, he'll be the only one who somehow doesn't know (and for somebody to not know is anything short of miracle, cause everyone is talking about that). Like a reverse social ninja, who perfectly mastered the art of going through life and dodging any information. Things that happen to me: I learn that two of my friends are a pair now. When I'm surprised, I hear that those news are 3 months old Or every year there is a Con in my city and everyone is going... except the one year when I decide to go, it turns out that almost everyone can't go and the ones who are coming are in the staff (so no time to hang out). I didn't read Alcatraz... but from what I heard, this looks like a talent. Long ago I stopped being angry about it, now I sort-of accept it.

So I want to be the first to throw a stone at the person who thought it's a good choice of music for the franchise with awesome instrumental/orchestral soundtracks.

Midnight Essence is not the same as voidspren possessing rock (thunderclasts). Midnight Essence is what Dalinar fought in the vision.
