  1. I'm sorry too. But I think that one more step in your reasoning and you would see my point of view: "Feruchemic charge*10= power Compounder obtains", as you said. So logically the more charge in the metalmind, the more power you would obtain from burning it, right? But on the other hand, the power you draw from burning the metal is constant. If all of it changes into Feruchemical attribute, then the charge of the metalmind is irrelevant. That's what my problem is.
  2. You repeated basic explanation of Compounding which, as you know, I must have known to come up with this analysis (it's even written in the very post you quoted). So stop with condescending tone. And claiming the result is wrong is not the same as proving it's wrong. If you noticed any mistakes I did, point them out. But since you didn't do that, I somehow feel you didn't spot any mistakes... Next time don't post if you have nothing to add to discussion. But then it means that there is no difference between burning metalmind Invested to the hilt and one that was briefly charged for a fraction of second. I find it hard to believe. If the only factor of the Feruchemical output of Compounding is amount of metal, it basically destroys the exponential power output we believe Compounders are capable of. We could really use a WoB on this topic...
  3. He would be insanely powerful Nicroburst... And nothing else.
  4. First, instead of double-posting learn to edit your previous post. Second, this combination was brought up multiple times. Third, you're wrong - atium shadows show you what the other person would do, but don't account for your actions: you don't see atium shadow of your opponent being stabbed by you. Similarly electrum shadows only show your possible actions, they don't account for outside influence.
  5. I'm not sure it's about securing but about being paranoid - the way Quiver talks about Google Overlord and not using his real name implies he doesn't want to give out his personal info to the web (question: why did you let Google know your phone number? The last I checked you don't need to do that - they keep bringing up pop-ups that I really should secure my gmail with phone number, but I ignore that. Is there a way to stop Google from trying to get my number? Some sort of "don't show that again"?). I'll try to link a good guide to picking passwords - the policy the whole internet has (add number, uppercase character, special character, kanji, Norse Frostrune and Aon) is not really a good one.
  6. Yeah, I also think that there is Honor's godspren (Stormfather), Cultivation's godspren (probably Nightwatcher) and third which is a mix of both Shards... not just a mix, but something of their interaction (just like atium + lerasium is not the same as harmonium). I wouldn't rule out possibility of third Bondsmith bonding something of Odium or partly of Odium if it weren't for the fact that there are Ten Unmade (and as we know, Unmade are Splinters of Odium), not one. In fact... it's curious why there could only be maximum three Bondsmiths when it would be very natural to be ten of them as ten seems important to Roshar. Perhaps this is a clue that we have to look elsewhere... maybe three Shards, maybe two and their interaction, maybe two Shards' godspren and third godspren of Adonalsium (as we know that there were spren before Shards came and Invested in Roshar and that those spren were Splinters of Adonalsium).
  7. I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN OREGON! CALAMITY COMES FROM THE PORTAL THINGY FROM GRAVITY FALLS! (please tell me nobody has said that yet)
  8. How can you both read the WoB and get from it something that's not there? Brandon basically RAFO'd whether there is a correlation or not.
  9. Yeah, I'm not worrying much about coming up with names as I am not writing big epic with tons and tons of characters; but I tend to discuss tropes and cliches and if at some point somebody remarks that he never ever met a Gravitiate whose name includes the word "gravity" I want to be able to give examples. Then he will rant about how in comics all the characters have so similar names and how it just doesn't work. I'll let you in on a secret - I'm translating it all to English to discuss it here. All the thinking/writing I do, I do in Polish. I'm reserving having fun with other languages to come up with chosen names (cf. my post on the previous page about decay mage with sword named Koheleth with inscription saying "Vanitas"). I feel I'm taking too much space in this thread; I think I will start compiling what I have so far.
  10. We just need time-travelling demographers. Send a squad to Middle-ages and we will finally know what percentage of what groups to include.
  11. As for hitting in the eye with the ceramic tip, I read that it he wasn't really aiming for the eye. The only thing that counted was Wax firing the hazekiller bullet and Coinshot Pushing on it what resulted in surprise projectile still coming at the Coinshot. Where it hit wasn't important, it just turned out to hit him in the eye. The whole shooting from the bubble and then shooting the bullet with the other bullet is entirely ridiculous. Even with Wax being steel savant, Pushing on the second bullet to make it reach the first one in time, being a super-crackshot, possible Twinborn perk (maybe it's accuracy?). The only thing that makes it somewhat believeable is Harmony guiding his hand (cause he was wearing the earring).
  12. Try to figure out necessary catalyst to channel the power and make it high-cost/difficult to obtain. For example, in Allomancy you have unlimited amounts of power - but there is a upper limit to how much power you can obtain at given time - we know it as maximum burn rate - and there is also the limiter of metals themselves, as you burn them away. How many times did characters run out of metals? In Awakening, you need color to fuel it - while color is easily obtainable, your catalyst could be difficult. And so on. For example, if every high-powered spell requires a diamond to properly focus the power (or something) and the diamond gets destroyed in the process, there you have it. Both unlimited AND limited power. Yeah, I thought about it too, but I wanted people to figure out a name which is associated with the power, but necessarily the word itself. For example somebody with power of magnetism wouldn't want to name himself Magneto or anything like that. It's been done ten thousand times over. But Dipole? Why not. Similarly, fire mages would avoid names with the "fire" in it, such as Firestorm or Firestar. But Furnace, Fever, Match or Phoenix are fine. Why, you could ask. Well, imagine a meeting of Gravities: "Hello, I'm Graviter. What are your names?" "Gravitysurge." "Graviton." "Gravitron." "Graver. No, I'm not grave-robber." "Gravityswitch." "Kneeldown." "..." "..." "..." "What, did you all name yourselves with something with "gravity" in it? Really? I already forgot who's who!" Do you see where I'm coming at?
  13. The thing is that popculture and tropes are quite important. So when you gain superpowers of your own choosing and you live in the world where there are superhero comic books/films/animations, majority of mages go for a name of similar pattern, choosing another name resembling an actual name and surname after they proven themselves. Haesar wasn't very creative with his "Blue Flame" so he prefers to use his taken name (taken? is this good word? ... chosen! CHOSEN NAME!... wait, powernames are also chosen... do you get what I'm talking about, or is it all gibberish to you?). As for the other/dead languages, one of the main characters (mage of decay) Plague, has a sword with "Vanitas" inscribed on the blade. He named the sword "Koheleth" Anyway, I admire Brandon for coming up with all those sensible Epic names.
  14. 2 diamond marks. I have a whole list of various prices and wages, but in Polish. I can translate it if somebody is interested.
  15. It's not only implausible (BTW, first game had a major black antagonist, but I somehow feel it wouldn't count for them), but also pretty ironic: one of the major themes throughout the books and games is racism. It's just not skincolor, but actual races (humans, elves, dwarfs, gnomes and so on). And of course witchers are pretty much outcasts. Of course the whole thing is much, much more complex and it's explored far more than I am able to describe here. BTW, I find it very interesting that the whole thing with political correctness is an American thing. The way I see it, it's because you have a much more diverse society (and history of slavery) and when somebody does not include non-white people it can be perceived as racist. But Poland has been very homogenous for very, very long and I think I could count non-white people I met on two hands. So when I write a story, it's natural for me to make the cast mainly white. If somebody makes a game out of it and stays true to the source material, I get attacked by SJWs for not making the cast as diverse as the society they are used to. Weird. Anyway, this has been a rant too long and too absorbing than it's worth. So to end on uplifting note: If you can get the books, read them. Seriously. You won't regret it (until you read through all of it and realize there is nothing more).
  16. What irritates me? When people accuse Witcher of being racist because there are little non-white characters (it's like accusing Vikings of being racist - the thing is happening in Northern lands!). Witcher. Racist. I know that most of the people didn't read the books (or even heard that there is a source material), but come on, it's like they are not paying attention. Racism is one of the main themes, for Almighty's sake!
  17. IDK guys, but it seems Autonomy goes along well with setting up an enclave for those who wander the worlds.
  18. There is a topic about Kubo and the two strings already.
  19. I've run into interesting problem. You see, Soulsmiths can teach each other their powers (as their powers are basically very complicated spells). For example, I had one mage who invented a way to directly affect other mages and set up a school. He teaches people his powerset and people taught by him go by the name "Repulsors". Usually mages base their name on their abilities (like Epics; for example I have people such as Frost, Alchemist, Fang, Plague, Wallruner etc -those are powernames). Haesar also has such powername, "Blue Flame", but something-in-origin-I-didn't-canonize-yet is the reason he has taken a new name and surname. Several other notable mages (mainly from Generation 0) has also chose another name unrelated to their abilities. While there is no official rule, mages tend to cast away powername and choose a new name after they rised in power and/or made a spectacular achievement. The thing is, powernames tend to run out quickly - how many different names can you invent for people with gravity-based abilities? They are all classified as "Gravitiates". How many names before they all start mixing up? Usually when somebody passes his powerset to more people, the original keeps his powername and invents a name for category. Like the first Repulsor dubbed the category for people he taught "Repulsors". But then, how are the Repulsors gonna differentiate between themselves? It gets worse when you start classifying powers - "Repulsors" are just a specific subset of "Telekinetics". Wallrunners would be a subset of Gravitiates. So not only there are more people with the exact same powers as you but also people with similar powers. Possible Repulsors: Crusher, Attractor (possible name-clashing with Gravitiates), Nailshot (I'm totally making a nod and having somebody ask him why wouldn't he just shoot coins), Hauler... aaaand I'm starting to have problems. I can have windmages naming themselves after different winds, there are plenty of those. But how to create 7 different powernames for people with ability to manipulate magnetism? Basically, once you have Superman, you can only have so many people in Super-family - Supergirl, Superwoman, Superboy...
  20. What are the other problems with Compounding? I never heard about them until I made this topic. I'll try to run the original problem through Brandon, either by posting it in Ultimate List and hoping somebody asks this very complicated question (unlikely) or wait until Brandon visits Poland and I ask him myself (who knows, maybe in 2017 he will come to Poland?). Yeah, so we all should just stop discussing over Investiture and stuff, say "it's magic" and probably close the forum. Totally.
  21. Allomantic iron / Feruchemical steel Pulling towards the opponent to get close, Steelrunning to easily win in close combat. Also, can rip out metal weapons and be fast enough to catch them/ dodge them. I think it would be possible to wallrun if well executed.
  22. In your scenario Compounding is independent of original Feruchemical storage - you could get stomach full of metal, store one second worth of attribute, then still get a rust-ton of Feruchemical charge. Burning a more full metalmind would give exactly zero benefit. I don't think it works like that.
