I updated main post with clearer explanation. We do not have confirmation. Some Sharders believe that stronger Allomancer has increased burning rate, some believe that stronger Allomancer get more power from given amount of metal than weaker Allomancers (so they have increased Investiture Output of metal). I understand arguments of both sides, but I personally agree with Increased Output camp. Anyway, it's not important in this topic.

The power you get (let's leave the whole Allomantic Strength problem alone) from burning a metal depends only on the amount of the metal. But the power you get from burning a metalmind depends on the Feruchemical charge of the metalmind. That's where the inconsistency is.

I know how to phrase it better: The amount of Investiture you gain by burning metal is always the same (for each unit of mass). Let's say you have amount of metal worth 10 Units of Investiture. If the feruchemical charge gets multiplied by 10. You store 1 Feruchemical Charge, burn it, get 10 FC. But since Investiture cannot be created or destroyed, you can't get more than 10 Investiture Units. Let's assume that 10FC =1 IU. So the maximum you can get by burning metal worth 10 UI is 100 FC. Let's assume that this requires a full metalmind. So metal worth 10 UI has maximum Feruchemical capacity of 10 FC. You burn metalmind charged with 10 FC; 10 UI flows through it and every 1 UI becomes 10 FC. This results in obtaining 100 FC. So far it's canon - you get ten times more of what you stored. But what if you burn a metalmind charged with only 5 FC? Only 5 UI would become Feruchemical charge - burning such metalmind results in 50 FC and 5 UI. So double effect - you get ten times the stored charge, but at the same time Allomantic effect has to take place (since not-changed Investiture cannot just disappear). On another note, this suggest that Allomantical power unit is ten times greater than Feruchemical one. I don't know what to make of that.

It recently struck me: More detailed analysis: Is there any WoB on such things? What are your thoughts?

Since everyone is going about WWII and similar periods... please tell me that you know what Great Starvation is (or, more accurately: Famine Genocide). Please. I heard that people are taught about Holocaust but Famine Genocide is less talked about and that a lot of people haven't even heard about that. I always assumed that it's not the way it is, but since I'm here and you are here, I can check that. So. Who heard about Famine Genocide?- 1963 replies

IIRC Reverse Lashing doesn't work well on things close to the ground - their Connection to the planet is stronger than those of things in the air. That's why you won't pull random things (or horse in your example) towards yourself, only things already in the air.
-
But there are much more possibilities than just standing there with extended Shardblade and waiting for people to fall from the 100 meters away. Imagine a fight in close combat, you make a swing, your opponent jumps back out of your range. As he does it, you extented your other hand forward, while summoning a straight blade pointing forward and creating a powerful Reverse Lashing on yourself/Shardblade/your hand/whatever. The opponent is still in the air, close to you. There is nothing he can do to avoid being impaled. EDIT: I just realized that Tendo from Naruto is a perfect example of using such abilities. He frequently pulled people towards him to impale them.

And you can't Lash somebody in Shardplate. But we're talking here about your Shardblade. It's your Investiture. Similar to how Shallan infuses Pattern with Stormlight to sustain her Lightweaving.

Storing the speed which we're moving through cosmos at would result in spectacular !SPLAT!. But yeah, the rest of what you wrote @Pathfinder is correct. Storing steel is storing the speed of your body movements, both micro- and macro.

The whole "Feruchemy is of Preservation" just keeps popping up. How about we make an official topic where we explain everything?

Why am I playing tak instead of going to sleep? That game is so wonderful that I can't even describe it. BTW, while I already understood that some people add questions from "Ultimate List Of Questions" to the doc, I'm meaning to ask whether (probably yes) and where are the answers collected (hoarded? gathered? accumulated? Not sure which word fits best)?- 1963 replies

I feel like people who say "a looooot of Mistings" tend to forget that the only battle oriented Mistings in TFE are Coinshots and Thugs. Lurchers may be useful, but not much. Tineyes (and maybe Seekers) can be scouts... and that's all. But as far as Knights Radiant go, every member of the Orders is a full Shardbearer with a living, morphing Sprenblade. And majority of the Surges is useful in combat.

And it's been brought before that wielding something is not the same as carrying it. Swords, which are pretty well balanced get hard after a while, even if they seem light at first, not to mention warhammers which are definitely not balanced.

Something unrelated to my Soulsmiths: From the recent debate about Feruchemical steel, I think I'd like to see (or maybe write myself) a short story which would include graphic descriptions of the downsides of storing attributes. I feel it was underdescribed in books. Like Brute struggling with walking, as pewtermind takes away his strength, him feeling like an old man as he feels tired just after climbing the stairs. Or Steelrunner and putting the spotlight on his breathing problems. That story would have to be internally focused, mainly describing what and how he feels, how he is sweating, those kinds of things.
