  1. The Elendel basin is at a fairly temperate latitude, the poles are nowhere close. Also look at the map of the Elendel Basin, it uses rectangular coordinates.
  2. But Elendel is no where near that close to any of the poles? So while yeah that wouldn't make sense, it does not apply in this situation.
  3. Luthadel was at the Magnetic North Pole (but not the Geographic) because the MNP was tethered to the Well of Ascension. When Sazed re-made the world that became no longer relevant. Elendel is also south-ish of where Luthadel was as well.
  4. Those are the names they are given in the WoR Ars Arcanum.
  5. This has already been all confirmed.
  6. In the future could you try to be more polite? It is possible to point out a mistake someone is making without coming across as incredibly rude.
  7. He did at some point over the last few months, but all the audio kind of blurs together, let me look. Atlanta signing line at about 8 minutes 30 seconds. Well Wayne is on the cover of Alloy...
  8. Well I'm betting the language is from the Southern Continent (since Brandon said we will know more about them by the end of Era 2, and really where else would that kind of thing come from? the Final Empire was too homogenous)
  9. Very exciting. I'm going to guess that that is Steris with Wax, she's blonde.
  10. Just an fyi, this sort of thing should go in the event thread in the Events and Signings forum. Anyway thanks for this, some interesting stuff here.
  11. *loudly announces the rest of the storming report because it's taken like an hour and a half to get the Damnation formatting right*
  12. *quietly slips in and posts the transcription that totally should have been finished ages ago*
  13. Closing thread as all copies have been distributed.
  14. It'll be coming later this year: https://twitter.com/PeterAhlstrom/status/583022482438782977
  15. Okay while I don't agree with the theory, this is not evidence against as that is /not/ what Brandon said. Brandon said that Vasher appeared in The Way of Kings Prime, which was written in 2002, so he has been on Roshar, in Brandon's mind, for 12 years /our time/.
  16. If you feel an article is complete go ahead and replace {{stub}} with {{complete}}. (That will put it in the nearing completion category, and then one of the admins can review it and bump it up) If you do that you can also put it in the edit description (the italicized tags), the admins do read those.
  17. Oh yes that will totally protect you. It's not like the staff are Steel Inquisitors with double zinc or anything... Oh wait. Mwahahaha.
  18. While this is true, Aon Reo lacks an image because it's a storming evil Aon. Seriously I don't know how long I've spent trying to figure out how to reproduce it.
  19. *Riots Kurk's sense of guilt*
  20. Okay so Amazon already has a page for this with some more information. Release date is October 6, 2015 (the same day as Shadows of Self actually). It will include a foreword by Dan Wells (who was the first to read the completed book) as well as an afterword from Brandon. "The Hope of Elantris" will also be included, and the Ars Arcanum will include "more of the technical details of the book's magic that fans can never get enough of." It's also worth pointing out that this is something that Tor has only done once before, with Ender's Game.
  21. I don't know if we know to much more about the currency, but I'll go through and look. Boxings presumably come in at least two denominations (1-Boxing and 10-Boxing, the later are mentioned a handful of times). Technically they are called "imperials" boxing just being slang. Clips are described as the smallest denomination of coin. Chapter 30 of TFE describes clips as being bronze, but they're described as copper in the WoA and HoA Ars Arcana, as well as a couple chapters of HoA. ...There really /isn't/ much there, is there? Anyway I totally like your idea about clips being clipped, it makes total sense.
  22. I'm refering to the "Jasnah in Shadesmar" sequence he wrote during his trip to the UK last year (there's an excerpt from it on Tor.com). Based on comments from Ben and Peter and co. on Reddit it is novella-length. The question is whether it will be included in Stormlight 3 or published separately or remain hidden for all of time.
  23. This page might help. Edit: We do, she uses a garnet. Soulcasting is unique in that the kind of gem the stormlight comes from has an effect on what it can be used for.
  24. Also since I completely forgot to say this in the OP: THUNDERCATS HO!
  25. So as we all probably know by now, next year Alcatraz 1-4 are going to be re-released by Tor (with the 5th coming soon after). As part of the new editions new covers were commissioned, as well as a map and other interior art. Until now we really haven't heard very much about this new art but I just found what I think is cover concepts and other sketches from them. The artist is Scott Brundage, and he posted the following images on his tumblr today with the caption "Unused cover finals and test sketches for Brandon Sanderson’s Alcatraz series." I for absolutely love these, and I hope it's an indication of the final products.
