Who exactly is criticizing Brandon?
-
No he does not, but his assistant Peter occasionally comes by so Brandon is at least some what aware of what is happening here. As for clothing, the only official stuff is through Brandon's store.
-
I think it changes depending on the tour, but from a cursory look he went to at least London, Manchester, Leeds, and Nottingham (and I know there were a couple more that I'm not finding) last August. But i don't think we'll know where he will be going until the tour is announced later this year.
-
Yes, he was there this past August, and will be there at this end of the year for Shadows of Self.
-
A lot of stuff. And some of it is probably stuff he can't talk about.
-
It's a good idea but we know it is not the case. One must be a native Nalthian in order to Return, and Hoid is from the planet Yolen.

It's an idea I've toyed around with in discussions, because Threnody just /feels/ so Ruinous. But my main issue with it is that it seems out of character for Sazed to essentially doom another planet... I've also supported the "it went to making koloss a true-breeding species" but I'm not longer as sure since we've learned exactly how that works and with things like the koloss-blooded.

If anyone is interested it looks like the female model for the cover is Willa Holland, who plays Thea Queen on Arrow.

[Firefight Tour] San Francisco/El Cerrito 1/17
WeiryWriter replied to KiManiak's topic in Events and Signings
Yeah, Segren, check your PM inbox soon. -
On the "thinking with portals" thing you have the gist of it, but I'll make sure to double check everything when I get to that point. BTW here's the google doc I've been working in.

I went through and timestamped the signing line audio, I'll try and get that typed up soon-ish. Anyway a lot of interesting stuff in there!

Oh I'd be doing that anyway, but it still a little bit easier to proof a transcript than transcribe from scratch.
-
Thanks guys! Depending on how much other stuff I can get done this weekend I may be able to transcribe stuff soon-ish (as I'm writing this Kurk just posted his, so that's a little less I'd have to do... Woo!). Brandon imitating people (such as us getting new readings and Peter "You'll microwave people") is hilarious. On the Stormlight game, I saw a mention on tumblr that Brandon mentioned a boardgame at the event in Taiwan (unfortunately the link the comment was referring to doesn't work so I wasn't able to find out more--not that the original article would have helped much being in chinese...) ANYWAYS this sounds super exciting! Nice to get confirmation on the Jim Butcher/Obliteration thing, someone asked him at one the Seattle signings and he was frustratingly cagey (it's like 99% confirmation but there's just that bit of doubt).

Stormlight Archive Reread [Updated: 02/27/2015]
WeiryWriter replied to Frosted Flakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
One question, why are you putting the new stuff in old posts? Why not just put it in a new one (since you are putting links to each entry in the OP). It's kind of frustrating having to search for the new stuff. And it puts the discussion out of order (i.e. Chapter 8 has now been inserted in the middle of the Chapter 7 discussion). -
Here's a spoiler-y Firefight question I've been meaning to add to the Ultimate List:
-
And Wetlander's transcription is in the database. Also something I noticed when Brandon references the Ones Above it's phrased like "you have seen people from that place" or when asked if they are from a planet we've seen "Yes. Well, you have seen the people they are calling 'The Ones Above'." (that second one could be seen as Brandon backtracking a bit from saying we have seen their planet). I'd say this could be a point against them being Scadrians (which I'm skeptical of anyway).

Stormlight Archive Reread [Updated: 02/27/2015]
WeiryWriter replied to Frosted Flakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'd say no, since despite us, the readers, usually calling it the "Surgebinding chart" that's not the "real" meaning in-world. It just so happens that Orders are associated with an Essence. This is why there are those extra lines (i.e. there's not necessarily a connection between Windrunners and Lightweavers but there is between Zephyr and Blood). Also I think people are rather overzealous when it comes to theories relating to Ashir and Geranid's discovery. Back when we were getting the pre-release chapters quite a few people believed that Shallan taking notes about Pattern was going to prevent him from developing (which obviously was not the case). In Chapter 35 of WoR Rushu relays the discovery to Navani, and mentions that people have only been able to replicate the discovery is with other flamespren. Which means that it is not as simple as "write a measurement down". -
Stormlight Archive Reread [Updated: 02/27/2015]
WeiryWriter replied to Frosted Flakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah this was discussed a while back and I believe the consensus that was reached (or at least the decision that I came to) was that they are both depictions of the same thing. Specifically that thing is "The Double Eye of the Almighty" which is a symbolic representation of the creation of plants and animals (the big glyphs are the Essences--the middle two being plant matter and animal matter respectively) so it is absolutely related at least in part to Vorinism. It also serves as a handy reference as to the Radiants and the surges they have access to. -
We know Nazh is short for something because of this WoB: (source) And then we have the spelling because of Brandon's bio on his site (check the attribution for the picture). We don't know exactly when Nazh first reaches the Plains though, it's entirely possible he didn't get there until after the Purelake interlude (since we didn't get any annotated art from him in WoK).

Only usually, Brandon has said it is possible to survive being spiked, but the donor would be... different afterwards.

Yeah he has mentioned all of that before, for example at the San Francisco signing.
-
He did say there was a Terriswoman running around in the interview Miyabi did with him around the release of Steelheart, he later clarified to say she was in Warbreaker (here's a thread discussing it). He has never (to my knowledge) mentioned a Terrisperson on Roshar.
-
Brandon hasn't mentioned a terriswoman in WoR, but he has mentioned that there is a terriswoman in Warbreaker.
