  1. Oh also on the topic of the Darksiders being darkerskinned that the Daysiders I remembered the following WoB posted by @BlackYeti in the PM thread back in August 2014: We'll also probably learn a little bit more in the Taldain essay from Arcanum Unbounded.
  2. Well I would point out that that is Khriss at the beginning of her story. She still has a lot of growing up to do so I think it's a little unfair to expect her to be the awesome Ars Arcanum Author when just hasn't had the life experiences that make her so?
  3. It ends with Khriss finding out Kenton is a sand master.
  4. From what I understand the Kindle app is just horrible when it comes to formatting graphic novels/comics. But you should be able to sync the kindle edition with a comixology account which has a /much/ better interface. I don't think there is going to be a paperback? At least I'm looking at the Dresden Files graphic novels and they don't have paperback editions, even for the one that came out in 2013.
  5. Someone also posted the reading Brandon did, it's a new story called Snapshot:
  6. Here is the text of the back covers, for reference: The Way of Kings: Words of Radiance:
  7. So I found a typo and figured we should have a thread for reporting them. On the third to last page of Chapter 3 the full name of Gevin is spelled "Gevaldin" when Khriss is speaking to Loaten on the eleventh page of Chapter 5 it is spelled "Gevalden".
  8. My one real question that I want answered (or at least a comment from Brandon on) has to do with this (from the first page of the second chapter). What exactly is it supposed to be, 'cause it looks like a relatively advanced piece of technology.
  9. So I figured that those of us who have read the full unpublished version should have a thread for our reactions. I really liked picking up on the foreshadowing of who the traitor is. Like there's the point before Kenton goes on the Mastrell's Run where Elorin makes a plea to the Sand Lord on Kenton's behalf and Kenton even comments on how sand masters are usually atheists. And then Elorin tries to keep Kenton away from the big meeting. I also liked the minor, one line, appearance of Delious (I think that's his name) he was my favorite character from the prose version.
  10. Edit: Please keep discussion of the prose draft as minimal as possible. See this thread for more spoiler-y reactions. I just finished reading the first volume of the White Sand graphic novel and really enjoyed it. I don't know if I'm the biggest fan of the art style they went with but it did start to grow on me. As someone who has read the prose version it was really fun picking up on certain bits of foreshadowing. My one real complaint was that it ended way too soon. So what does everyone else think?
  11. Hey everyone, this has been a busy week for news but before we get into I do want to remind you all that the first volume of the White Sand graphic novel is releasing this week! Crafty Games' Kickstarter for Mistborn: House War is still going strong. It's currently sitting at over 125 thousand dollars and is currently working towards adding House Haught as a playable faction (bringing the game up to 10 playable Houses. The Tor/Forge Blog has also revealed the cover art for Arcanum Unbounded, done by Dave Palumbo. Look it's Khriss! This collection will include the following stories: The Hope of Elantris (set during the climax of Elantris) The Emperor's Soul The Eleventh Metal (originally published in the core rulebook of the Mistborn Adventure Game) Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania (originally published in the Alloy of Law supplement for the Mistborn Adventure Game) Mistborn: Secret History Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell (originally published in the Dangerous Women anthology) Sixth of the Dusk (originally published in the Shadows Beneath anthology) an excerpt from White Sand Edgedancer (a new novella featuring Lift) Brandon has said that the collection will also include an essay, written by Khriss, and a planetary system map for each of the worlds, and a new illustration for each of the stories. Brandon has also released a deleted scene from his novella Perfect State (currently nominated for this year's Hugo Award for Best Novella) as well as two annotations discussing why he cut it and the consequences of doing so. The first video of this year's recording of Brandon's BYU How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy class has been posted. For those who are interested patrons of the Writing Excuses Patreon do get early access to these. In UK news Amazon UK has a listing for a 10th Anniversary edition of Elantris for those of you who have held off getting a copy with the UK cover art to match your collections and Gollancz has revealed new cover art for a 10th Anniversary UK edition of The Final Empire over on their blog: Finally Tor.com is running a contest (set to end on June 28th) to win a copy of the Mistborn Adventure Game, a set of Mistborn Allomancy Dice, AND hardcover copies of the Era 1 Mistborn Trilogy.
  12. All we really know is that it is one of the three books he plans to write between Stormlight 3 and 4. The others being The Aztlanian and Apocalypse Guard 1, though we don't know which order that will be. I expect The Aztlanian will be first just because of how long it has been since The Rithmatist.
  13. I would very much like to see this WoB, as I do not recall one to that effect.
  14. No, volumes 1-3 are all based on the original prose draft and all are going to be released. It is the adaptation of the planned second and third books in the series that will depend on how the first three are received.
  15. Hmm I'd actually flip it around to match the description of the Three Realms in Secret History. The 16 point star represents the Spiritual Realm, the light of which, the 4 point star, crosses the Cognitive Realm, the circle, and shines on the Physical Realm, the outer arcs.
  16. Oh... Oh wow... Now I want a sequel so much more.
  17. Very interesting. I'd seen this discussed previously and it's nice to have WoB on it. One question though, where exactly is this from?
  18. No it does not.
  19. Do you have a specific mistake in mind? Because we know that the Ars Arcana may not be entirely accurate since they are based on in-world experience and knowledge.
  20. Did anyone else catch last night's episode? I quite enjoyed it, though that ending is a killer. Episode 57
  21. Yeah I did some research after reading it and ended up picking up the first issue of Titans Hunt, though I haven't read it yet.
  22. Yay! I've been waiting for this for sooooo long. On the glowing of metals, I disagree with Landis' interpretation, I would argue it is less Preservation's proximity as it is the natural Realmatics of Scadrial. But setting that aside and discussing the actual mechanics of what is happening I think it's more like how gems glow when infused with Stormlight. In that Brandon has said that the light they emit is not actually the Stormlight leaking from the gems but that they act sort of like lightbulbs screwed directly into the Spiritual Realm. Likewise metals glow because they are the focus of power on Scadrial and there is the potential for power from the Spiritual Realm to pass through them. On the Perpendicularity, it's not the atium, it's the Pits themselves. You were right in referring to them as places where the Three Realms intersect (or at least to the extent of our knowledge). The Pits are where Ruin's power naturally collects, and in the case of atium, leaks from the Spiritual Realm. Same thing with the Well and Preservation's power. No Cephandrius is /not/ Hoid's original name. Cephandrius Maxtori is the pseudonym he uses in Dragonsteel and is one of the oldest pseudonyms he has (though not as old as the name "Hoid" itself). Personally I greatly dislike the use of Shadesmar to refer to the entirety of the Cognitive Realm and use it exclusively to refer to Roshar's subastral.
  23. So I just read Titans: Rebirth and although I think it would have better if I had had more context I enjoyed it.
  24. So Brandon spoke a little bit about the game over on the boardgames subreddit:
  25. Great news everyone, the Mistborn: House War Kickstarter launched today. And it has already funded as well, in less than five hours at that! Go and check it out here. Next up is the first stretch goal at $45,000 where Crafty Games will add a new playable house, House Bylerum (which is from their A House of Ashes companion). To just get the base game with no frills requires a pledge of $50, and they also have a more limited "Prestige Edition" which includes special foil versions of cards among other additions for $100 dollars. They also have all of the Mistborn Adventure Game supplements available as add-ons (including the upcoming Alloy of Law II supplement dealing with information from Shadows of Self and The Bands of Mourning). Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go and back it myself.
