  1. When I read that WOB I saw it as Adolisium was more akin to a shard without a shardholder. Investiture left alone will develop sentience (i.e. Spren, Seons). Adolisium has been described as the Powers of Creation. Have we seen a WOB that Adolisium even had a vessel?
  2. As far as the Lightweavers vs Lightwielders question. If the lighweavers were restricted to just using lightweaving they would loose big time. So far we have only seen Shallan use it for illusions. They might stand a better chance if they also use Soulcasting creatively and their Shardblades. As for Harmony vs Thanos w/ Gaunlet. Does Thanos have all of the gems at the point of the battle? if so then Harmony is cooked. I would equate Thanos with full powered Gaunlet on par with Andolisium.
  3. There were spen forming the Nahel bond prior to Honors demise. The original Surgebinders came about of the spren copying Honors work with the Honorblades. This tells me that the majority of spren are born of Andolisium and not Honors splintering. In my mind it takes a long time for unguided power to form its own sentience, longer than Honor has been splintered. I don't have anything that points to this conclusion though, its just a theory.
  4. Lets be honest. Pulling a rock out from nowhere was the least weird thing that Renarin was doing at the time. Shallan already thought he was a little on the weird side and now he's raving and writing on walls. It might just have been a attempt at humor in a very stressful situation or to show just how scatter-brained she was at the time.
  5. Does anyone else think its a coincidence that the one person on Roshar who has the black gem/knows where it is also happens to be one person who will be wielding Nightblood? I can't picture how it will go together but it does seem a little fishy.
  6. Devious Brandon. Gives us three different effects that could be considered the 'Bonus magical effect' so we can't be sure which it is. For Shallan, is it far-seeing, potential unlocking, or her perfect recall/art skills? For Kaladin, is it Stormriding dreams, leadership/squires, or his uncanny fighting skills? Which is just talent and which magical? Are all three bonuses and Kriss was wrong about there only being one effect? Edit: As I was re-reading my post I noticed a pattern. One potential bonus is magical in nature(i.e farseeing and stormriding) One was related to the KR relationship with others(i.e. Potential unlocking and leadership skills) and one was internal to the KR (i.e memory talent and fighting talent) I'm seeing an effect for each of the Realms possibly.
  7. I thought the idea that society viewing the KR as the bad guys being responsible for there being no more surgbinders very interesting. It does make a great deal of sense. But I don't believe the resurgence of the in-world Way of Kings had anything to do with the KR resurgence. Kaladin still thought the KR were bad even as he was becoming one and he had never even heard of the Way of Kings. Renarin and Lift both believed they bonded Voidbinders. Shallan thought she was going insane, as did Dalinar in his own way. Maybe the negative views of the KR are impeding a full KR resurgence, and that is why they are being extra picky about their first choices. They don't want another Recreance right out of the gate. It'll be up to the 'first generation' KR to change societies view point on the subject to unleash the full resurgence.
  8. Great catch there! For some reason when I read that scene I thought it was showing a representation of Jasnah creating a fake body on the boat with her Soulcasting. Shallash makes a lot more sense given the picture. I'm sure it will be important later on somehow.
  9. Tries to stealthily follow Kaladin around in order to copy down the glyph that shows up when he speaks the next ideal but is way too obvious about it. Shallan
  10. Did they by any chance provide a date that it would hit the shelves? Its been too long scince BoM, I'm getting itchy for my Brandon fix.
  11. I think you mean Hunters. And they only wear them because they think they look cool. It literally says that in a description of one of the hoods.
  12. damnation! No wonder he is Roshar's most eligible Bachelor.
  13. A two-armed ex-one-armed ex-bridgeman Radiant Squire
  14. I believe there was a WoB somewhere that said that Odium has splintered another shard off screen. That would leave an extra two if we don't count the Survival shard has a world bound shard. my guess would be that one or two of those worlds have more than one Shard on them.
  15. While I am not 100% converted to this theory I do like imagining the possibilities if it is true. Could the Unmade be splinters of this Fourth shard that Odium has somehow coerced to do his bidding? Could the Fourth Shard be related to the Dawnsingers and why they haven't been around in a long time? I would need to see a WoB confirm this theory before I believe it but it does make for some interesting speculation.
  16. Would you consider the natural way that the some of the Listeners and some of the Fauna of Rishar naturally Bond with spren (i.e. Sky-eels, Chasamfiend etc..) as a different magic system than the ones listed? This is the magic system that Odium has co-opted as far as we can tell(Stormform) but it seems like it was also the pre-shardic magic system native to Roshar. I belive that this is the Old Magic that is referred to. Idk what the Nightwatcher could be, but it doesn't seem large enough to be its own magic system.
  17. 22, 23 sooner than i'd like.
  18. One thing I thought of when I read this theory was this: Khriss is generally thought of as extremely smart and cosmere savy. if I put myself in her shoes where would I look for an immortal Returned that requires a weekly infusion of stormlight to survive and that has a powerful sword. Scadrial would be the last place to look for Vasher a few reasons. 1) no way to replenish his breaths. 2) nobody on Scadrial uses swords anymore during this time period, carrying one would make him stick out like a sore thumb. The only reason she would look on Scadrial is because it is so unlikely a place, as in Vasher might go there briefly to loose a tail.
  19. I take it you don't count Kandra or Shallans/Hoids illusions or Vashers ability to switch between normal and god-mode as shapeshifting. Theoretically changing your cognitive aspect would work for a Surgebinder to change his physical shape but doing so on purpose would be just about impossible. I can imagine slow changes as they grow and mature, or if they still see themselves as young even when they are old. A weird aspect of this might be if they take a head wound that makes them have amnesia.
  20. I imagine that for such a society to not destroy itself and/or their world in the first conflict of any size the magic would need to be relatively harmless. Like some sort of Nature magic or other 'civilian' kinds of magic. If everyone could cause catastrophic damage by themselves any conflict that included multiple individuals that had even a little training would easily escalate, unless there were an even larger number of people who could just as easily repair damaged infrastructure combined really awesome healers.
  21. Not necessarily. Stormlight 3 spoilers
  22. I've always viewed Alethkar as an early 1800's Prussian society with the Feudal system still in place and no artillery. It was the uniforms for the Kholin Army that brought it home. They remind me of pre WW1 Uniforms.
  23. They don't have to pierce specific organs but specific points of your spirit web. Remember Kandra do weird stuff with their organs. BoM spoiler It might seem that you have to pierce certain organs on humans but that is because humans have the same positioning of organs as all other humans. But it would still work if, for example you had to stab the appendix, the person you were stabbing had their appendix removed.
  24. *Makes 50 ft tall flamespren and binds it to a flamethrower fabrial Muahahah!!
  25. Basically it means that if you jump off of a building after magiking luck you would land in the dumpster instead of the groud. It wouldn't magically make a few mattresses appear. Unless you were a luck Savant. In that case someone could have previously dumped mattresses in said dumpster previously and your constant burning of luck had them dump them in that particular dumpster. But then that is starting to get into Time manipulation because how would your Luck know you were going to jump into that dumpster a say day in advance? damnation, luck is confusing.
