Interesting that you can steal singer forms but you couldn't steal surgebinding. Brandon said that technically you could steal it but the spren would likely not accept the bond. I guess most singer forms don't use sapient spren.

All the People We Haven't Considered for Odium's Champion
KSub replied to Lightdancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Reading the coppermind page for the night of sorrows, it sounds like it is probably another name for the Everstorm. -
I looked at the portrait and one eye appears to be brown and the other blue. It's really hard to tell though. That being said I think it's a mistake going down that rabbit hole because the portraits are supposed to be in world. So it's entirely possible that they are wrong.

As you say, we don't know whether it's different for the original radiant or not. I think it would be different since they already had a bond.

All the People We Haven't Considered for Odium's Champion

I don't think Odium was interested in creating more fused. Raboniel or maybe Leshwi tells Venli as much. There has never been a singer raised to fused since the originals. This kind of reinforces my belief that Gavilar won't be back. -
There were a lot of crumbs leading to Testament, I find it hard to believe that happened by accident. We can't trust what Shallan thinks. I mean Shallan can't trust what Shallan thinks. As for the 10 heartbeats we have this

I saw your link after I posted my response. I see how that's possible. Personally I'm not a fan of this option though -

Gavinor would make sense. That's probably what '3-parts-HCl : 1-part-HNO3' meant. Yeah could Dalinar kill his grandchild to save Roshar? If Odium is able to get to Gavinor, would Dalinar allow himself to be killed? -
This does make sense but why would you not be able to reach Ashyn from Roshar? Or, why is it not a significant point on the map at least? Also, it seems kind of strange that each of the major shard world's that we have had narratives on would be the four corners of shadesmar. What about the other shardworlds? I was going to suggest that Braize may not be in Shadesmar since there is no life there but glancing through the coppermind it says that it is since all shardworlds are part of the cognitive realm.

Gavilar is a top choice? How would that happen? -
Odium's forces use the corrupted rhythms like emotional allomancy
KSub replied to mdross81's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I always took the new rhythms to be more intense versions of the docile rhythms the Listeners had chosen to remember. Derision instead of contradiction. But I could definitely see an argument for odium influencing the rhythms. This is like malatium, Renarin is seeing who the person could be . Not so much emotional allomancy but Renarin uses it to that end. At least with Moash. I don't remember the scene with Adolin. -

I agree with @mathiau the rhythms aren't corrupted but Odium does manipulate emotions. When the Listeners bonded the new spren they are especially open to Odiums influence. We also see the unmade manipulate emotions via ashertmarn and nergaoul. -
Since the Heralds seem to have been twisted to the opposite of what they stand for and Chanas first attribute is brave it kind of makes sense that she would immediately crack.

So if I'm correct voidlight/stormlight etc. is a physical thing. It's equivalent to gaseous investiture like mist or breaths. When it's in the vacuum it is still voidlight. It's keyed for lack of a better word to Odium. We know that all investiture comes from Adonalsium, so all investiture is of every shard. We have seen shards corrupt investiture. That is different but I think it's also kind of the same. In the void it is separated from all the rhythms of roshar, so using the proper tone Navani was able to reprogram it. There was too much interference when it wasn't in the vacuum. So I think, yes, it could have been changed into any investiture. My personal theory is that this is what Autonomy has been doing, converting investiture for its various avatars. But that's another story.
-
It has a strange kind of logic to it. I think it would probably be pretty devastating to a radiant. The bond is part of a radiants spirit web. Pulling the spren to the physical realm would probably rip that part of them out of the spirit web. What effect would that have on a radiant? Nothing good.
-
I think the problem here is the question. Do shards have a favorite colour? No, but i think their investiture inherently has a colour, just as they have a rhythm/tone. It's the frequency of their investiture producing it.

Well I think that settles it.

I think the compression of space is related to the absence of people as opposed to them not thinking about it. It holds true for the ocean which is largely empty, although there are creatures living in the ocean. But my questions is when you go to the far left side of the map where do you go? Also what are the details on the edges of the map? The woman and the ?flame?

Here's another thing that I'm not sure I understand. The map for Shadesmar matches the map for Roshar. But the side of the Rosharan map actually corresponds to the opposite side of the map. (As maps do.) In Shadesmar you have the expanses which lead to other planets. But if it truly corresponded to Roshar it would wrap around. Is Shadesmar doing Cognitive mumbo jumbo because people perceive Roshar as the map shows it?
-
I suppose that's possible.

Once when I was at the gym I over exerted myself and my friend said that my skin looked grey. I think it was a lack of oxygen. Could be magical but it could also not be. Might be unrelated but Ruins investiture is described as black smoke. And Brandon has said that Nightblood has Ruins investiture.

Do we think the nexus are anything other than land masses in Shadesmar corresponding to large bodies of water in the physical realm?
-
Yep I think there's a simpler explanation. When people are sick their skin is often described as ashen. I think that's all Teft means in this scene. Good work @LewsTherinTelescope. I think your definitely onto something. I don't think I have anything to add but have an upvote.

Not very common sure. But these are Odiums warriors. If he wanted them to have some he must have been able to do that. I know he didn't want to invest but we know they have had it for several desolations. It could be that they needed the gem to capture the Heralds. Sapphire is connected to Jezerezeh in the essence tables. I just never really trusted those tables.
