Did Adonalsium Plan for the Post-Shattering Cosmere?
KSub replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That wasn't a complaint, per se. Im currently reading calamity. and anyone who can pump out stormlight books and about 4 other series faster than some others write a single series deserves a little slack. But I REALLY wish he would stick to his 2 year timeline for stormlight. -
There was a WoB on Hoids apparent use of feruchemy. I don't have the quote, but Brandon implied that he May have used feruchemy but he doesnt necessarily have the ability. I believe that he is using the medallions.

Well it's like I said at the beginning, if a shard can see these connections then they would know who will oppose them and if they are Ruin or Odium or any other shards who might be cutthroat enough to kill someone who opposed them, then they would do just that. Maybe I don't fully understand Connection.

Did Adonalsium Plan for the Post-Shattering Cosmere?
KSub replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I did say we will find out what happened! But seriously I would estimate that it will take that long. I don't think we will learn that secret until dragonsteel and I'm pretty sure Brandon said that he won't start dragon steel until stormlight is done. -
Did Adonalsium Plan for the Post-Shattering Cosmere?
KSub replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm afraid we might have to wait 20 years to find out what Really happened to adonalsium -
I have nothing additional to contribute to the "why not copper" discussion, but it would be an interesting situation if copper wasn't so plentiful. The ability to hide your allomancy would be much more valuable, unlike now where it's almost a throwaway power.

Hmm, so do shards see so many connections that it's white noise and they ignore it?
-
They may have used the power less drastically, but I find it odd that we have no indication there was a Hero before Rashek. I'm kind of thinking he was the first, maybe second.

Did Adonalsium Plan for the Post-Shattering Cosmere?

It could be that Hoid's meddling is what caused the shattering in the first place, and now he's just trying to clean up his mess. -
Do we know for certain that it is 1024 years exactly? Because that is an interesting number. When i was writing the OP I was going to put in a bit of a timeline estimating how many heroes could have taken up the power of preservation. But I realized that even though we know 4500 years have passed on Roshar since the last Desolation (not Last Desolation), it doesn't tell us anything about how many years have passed on Scadrial as their years would not be the same length. Im still curious about the other slivers however. In Alendi's time there is no Lord Ruler, so what could have happened to the previous sliver. We hear no mention of it. Plus the world doesn't sound like it was shaped according to an imperfect god. We know that it was green and healthy and the people were similar to other descendants of Yolen. Even Sazed with all of his knowledge made some mistakes while reshaping Scadrial. Could Rashek have been the first to take up the power? I suppose it is possible that Scadrial is only ~2000 years old, given that Preservation and Ruin created Scadrial, unlike Roshar which already existed. Maybe creating Scadrial was Preservations way of taking Ruin out of the equation.

In M:SH Kelsier is able to see strings connecting people to shards. My question is can Shardholders see these connections? It would make it pretty hard for Marsh to trick Ruin into believing he wasn't resisting if Ruin could see that Marsh had a connection to Preservation. (although we don't know this, I would be willing to argue he did, given his thoughts and actions anytime he was given a hint of freedom)

If she absorbed the mists as a child that would make sense. It would also makes sense why Ruin targeted her a la mama stabby. That being said, I thought it was because of her strong connection to both Ruin and Preservation.

It could be a future imbalance in Sazeds powers, although I've been thinking about that for awhile and I believe that his intent is pretty solidly entrenched at this point, so I don't know if a slight imbalance in his powers is enough to change his intent. And since it was written Discord not discord in the prophecy, Im leaning towards it being a title, and I don't believe any of the Terris referred to Sazed as Discord... just heretic, which is actually stated in the previous line of the prophecy. My favourite theory is the one i just stated above, that Sazed will take up a third shard causing his intent to shift.

I disagree. Harmony's creation was only possibile under a specific series of events, but now that Sazed is Harmony I think he has an inherent connection to the other shards. With several hundred (minimum) years ahead of us in the cosmere who can say what will happen. And he doesn't need to grab 2 shards to balance their intent this time. He already holds two. If he grabbed a 3rd, the other two powers would balance it slightly. Lets say for example that he takes up Honor (i realize that it is splintered, but I'm certain they can be remade); we would have an Honourable Harmony. Doesn't sound too bad. Or maybe he picks up another shard, say Autonomy, which creates Discord.

I've been thinking about the Hero of Ages prophecy recently and a couple questions have come to mind. 1. Who prophesied the prophecy? 2. When did they do it? 3. Since Brandon likes to mess with us, specifically regarding the prophecy, (did anyone read the final empire and think, "Sazed is the HoA, boom!") what do we believe about the prophecy that may not be true. This topic has been discussed before and some of the most common opinions for who created the prophecy are Hoid and Leras. Given that they are two of the only three beings seen on Scadrial who are old enough to have written the prophecy( the third being Ati) this makes sense. I don't have any other ideas that aren't just wild speculation, so I will just ask this, do we believe Hoid has the power to make this kind of prediction, and do we really believe it was Leras who made the prediction? We have no detailed information regarding when the Hero of Ages was prophesied. All we really know is that it was a part of religion during Alendi's time. Ok, so the belief is that Leras created the prophecy so people would take up his power and keep Ruin imprisoned. This would likely have been several thousand years ago. (Makes you wonder who held the power before Rashek!) With the Deepness, Ruin began to touch the world again and changed the prophecy to state, among many other things, that the hero should give up the power, which is why Rashek killed Alendi and took it for himself. But if you read the prophesies, it clearly implies a Terris worldbringer "He will carry the future of the world on his arms". So the next question is, did someone change the prophecy again in order to get a worldbringer to take the power, *cough HOID *cough. Or, did Preservation actually have enough future sight to predict that there would be Worldbringers, who would wear copperminds on their arms with the knowledge to fix the world, after Rasher took the power and Ruined the world. That the person who eventually took the power would be shunned by his people, that he would have the power of Preservation and Ruin, that that which was sundered shall begin to be made whole. That his name shall be Discord.... Wait, what? That part of the prophecy hasn't been fulfilled, yet. Is this a prediction for the future, if so can we assume that the previous prediction, "That which was sundered shall begin to be made whole" is not finished? Does that mean Sazed is not the Hero of Ages for Scadrial, but the Hero of the Cosmere? As everyone in the Cosmere knows, when you get an answer it comes with two new questions. Somebody give me an eye spike, I've got work to do!

(Secret History Spoilers) Issues with Geometry?
KSub replied to TruthlessofNalthis's topic in Mistborn
Sorry I know this post was almost dead but I've had some thoughts relating to M:SH so I've been going through old posts to see it anything has been mentioned. Firstly, the cognitive realm reflects all life including animals, and I believe plants, so the ocean isn't going to disappear. Secondly, my best guess for the shape of Scadrial in Scadesmar is a sphere. If you imagine a bubble around the planet and that bubble reflects the real world. The world would feel flat as it normally does and the oceans might seem to be rising. It's kind of confusing, but we are in the cognitive realm! Maybe when you get high onto the ocean there is little enough life that the world thins. This is where you cross into the neutral zone. So there would not need to be a weird flattening of the planet leaving a strange edge. There would just be pockets where it leaves Scadrial. -
I don't want to speculate too much, but could they be adonalsium and rayse?

Harmony stated that he had made the Elendel basin too well, that the people had it too easy. (Ok, maybe not his exact words) I was thinking about this, and I've come up with a couple of reasons he may think this. 1. The people of Elendel didn't have to struggle for anything. If everyone has an easy life, why would they try to make the world better? This may have slowed them down in discovering new things. 2. If you live in the best place in the world, why would you leave? No one would explore the world, possibly discovering a new civilization, maybe somewhere to the south. 3. Harmony used too much of Preservation to create the Elendel basin and now it agitates the Ruin aspect of his personality which forces him to create discord, or maybe Discord! What do you think?

I always believed that Odium was imposing his will on Taravangian, but now that I think about it a boon from the night watcher makes sense. It's both a gift and a curse. Oh and I think the night watchers power is an expression of cultivations not something else.

You missed the best use of that skill. In order to use aon dor you need to have a connection to elantris. If you worldhopped to sel and have the power to instantly create a connection to elantris...

I always assumed like KeenBlade that shinovar had just been able to survive the high storms unlike the rest of the world which has been scoured by millennia of high storms. I'm not sure why the shin are so different but I have three thoughts: 1. they were inhabitants of roshar before the shattering of adonalsium 2. They came from another world, perhaps the one Brandon has mentioned where people live in the sky 3.They are of cultivation. But knowing Brandon I'm probably wrong on all counts and it will be something even better.
