  1. And what if that investiture used to be under the influence of another shard, and then that shard was splintered and now its investiture is just sitting there waiting to be picked up?
  2. There is something special about him. I suppose it could just be that he is the embodiment of the windrunner ideals but I think there is something more.
  3. Tanavast died long before Kaladin was born so that seems unlikely. At least one of Kaladins grandparents was a lighteyes and they were related to Aesudan. We don't know anything about Aesudans past so unfortunately that doesn't lead anywhere.
  4. That's one of my two. My other one would probably be Maya YOU CANNOT HAVE MY SACRIFICE!
  5. I forgot, I did see that while reading WoBs. So I guess that means they don't know this person is a sleepless. I wonder if the sleepless is one of the 3 traitors.
  6. People think Mraize is a sleepless? Thats weird because there's a WoB saying the Ghostbloods wouldn't work with a Sleepless.
  7. I think this is a stormlight, errr light specific thing, due to the easy access to stormlight. We need a word for any light. And as someone else mentioned we haven't seen it pulled from a person. If not it would be possible to disable everyone in the cosmere with a sound. You could destroy a shard. Hmm, could this be in some way related to the dawnshards?
  8. I see what you're saying. I just read through his article on the coppermind and his actions seem justifiable. I just get this vibe off Mraize but I guess nearly every time we see him is from Shallans POV.
  9. Mothers milk in a cup, Kinslayer! That must be the worst WoB I have seen. Us: Are the sharblades different metals? Brandon: no and they are the same alloy... or not. They have a different ratio of metals but they are the same but people in world would call them different. They are really the same but I would call them different but they can't be different. I think you would call them different. Me: WHAT?! So the spren are different proportions of honor and cultivation, so their blades are as well. They can not be separated so they are not an alloy but we would call them an alloy. I'm going to keep thinking of them as uniform until Brandon gives me a reason to think otherwise.
  10. I think Gavilar was not a good person. It seems that he was being groomed by both Odium and Honor, as we see happen to Dalinar after his brothers death. So it seems he had potential for both good and evil. He had the anti investiture and had been speaking with at least a couple of the Heralds. He also had plans for conquest and power. In the end Odium had him killed, so i think in spite of pressing his will on Gavilar, Odium felt Gavilar was a threat. The expression goes the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but that's only true for so long. I think if everything had played out as it did except with Gavilar in Dalinars place at the battle of Thalen field, he would have turned against humanity. If the question is was he good or evil at his death? I would say he was a flawed human with a whole lot of power, which seldom has a positive effect, being pulled hard by two gods. He was neither, he was both.
  11. Knowing that, I have to believe Ghostblood HQ won't be happy with Mraizes actions.
  12. I didn't interpret it that way. You are, of course, correct. For some reason I never put this together. It seems so obvious now.
  13. Interesting discussion. Relating to the Rosharan music scales. 10 is significant on Roshar so they just look for 10 in everything. The 3 note scale could refer to the pure tones or just a nod to them. 12 is what we use, it's mathematically pleasing because it can be divided by 2,3,4 and 6. IRL there is music written in microtones, so the scale is divided into more notes. King gizzard and the lizard wizard are a notable modern band who use this. If you have ever heard middle eastern or South asian music and thought this sounds off, it's because it's played in microtones and you just aren't used to hearing those notes. Now as for how many pure tones there could be, we know that Adonalsium could have been divided in different ways. I think there is a pure tone for every way that Adonalsium can be divided. Or a better way to say that, every form of investiture vibrates at a different frequency and there is a note that corresponds to each frequency. Those notes are only pure tones if there is a corresponding form of investiture available. So, currently there would be 17 if atium and lerasium are still out there. Harmonys investiture would be like 2 overlapping sine waves of Ruin and preservation frequency. Also, there are not 10 God metals for shardblades. They are all a blend of honor and cultivations metal, probably all the same ratio as they all appear to be identical in form and function.
  14. I think Quantus is right about the gender thing. They reproduce asexually, so I don't see any need for gender. Within the context of autonomy's many personas, it makes sense for her to be a sleepless. Each of her avatars would be a separate personality but part of the whole. I feel like the sleepless would not take up a shard but then the swarm believe the others are traitors so... There's this quote. Take from it what you will.
  15. Kelsier could certainly be working against Harmony. Harmony by his own words is caught between the intents of the shards. If Kelsier is taking drastic action which is believable then Harmony could be opposed to that. Or maybe they just have different ideas of what is right, more of a tangential opposition than head on. And I don't think Kelsier is Trell. Its just a feeling but why would Kelsier want to hide the Cosmere from Harmony? More likely its another shard trying to prevent someone with the power of two shards from interfering on their world. So, no, I think the Set is separate from the Ghostbloods. More likely they are a rival organization like the Sons of Honor.
  16. Ideals of the Order of Stay-at-Home Dads 1. Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination 2. I will protect those who cannot protect themselves from junk food and screen time. 3. I will protect even those who want breakfast at 4am. 4. I accept that I can not protect them all the time. 5. I accept that someday they will protect me. I had a hard time with that fifth one since we don't yet know anything except the skybreakers oath. I will become the Dad? It doesn't really work.
  17. Wait, did we know Roshar was created? Is Brandon implying Adonalsium created it?
  18. You're right @Harrycrapper Breaths are similar to stormlight. I was thinking of all the differences between awakeners access to breaths vs stormlight but that's just a product of the magic system not the investiture itself. Also a side note to something mentioned earlier in the thread. The investiture on threnody could be odium. There's a WOB saying that he was injured in his fight with Ambition. I think it's likely Ambition was invested on Threnody and fled when Odium arrived leaving some investiture on the planet. But it's interesting that it could be Odium. Those shades seem pretty hateful when provoked.
  19. I agree the mist and ruins black smoke are quite similar to stormlight, etc. I don't find examples of similar investiture on other shardworlds. Not to say there are not any, just that we haven't seen that. Its been a long time since I read Elantris. I don't have any recollection of the Dor, maybe they are similar. I think the reason stormlight is so accessible has to do with Roshar and it having a strange connection to Shadesmar. If we look at Scadrial, the metals allow for access to investiture and the mist is pure investiture. On Roshar there is no physical world access to investiture, the stormlight is just available.
  20. From the San Francisco signing So 10 is relevant to Roshar but not Braize for some reason. So is it because Odiums number is 9 and that is where he is invested or is Braize from another system? It seems odd that Brandon would throw such a weird red herring at us given that there are 9 surges for fused as well. Yes; this is canon. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Surgebinding#Adhesion I think the point of contention was whether honor created it after the other surges to make radiants more of honor.
  21. That could be, but my point is why would he attack a dishardic world solo? Maybe Honor or Cultivation made some kind of oath to bring him to Roshar?
  22. Thats too bad. I didn't want a spoiler but maybe if there had been a hint. Well I guess we will all just have to wait like Vasher.
  23. I mentioned this in another thread, but who is looking forward to metal lifeless in era4? Here's what I hope to see... The Awakener crashed through the undergrowth, heedless of the plants scratching at her exposed face and hands. The whole planet was trying to kill me, why would this patch of jungle be any different? she thought. Besides, the plants were much less a threat than the two surgebinders pursuing her. Her life sense told her they were still following but they were doing something that was making it hard to detect them. She glanced back as she ran. She could see one of the surgebinders, glowing with a violet light. It was the same shade as the sky over Hallandren three minutes before dusk. "I could use some help," she said into an object strapped to her arm. As she entered a small clearing a surgebinder flew overhead, then dropped out of the sky with surprising grace. He landed a few paces in front of her, cutting off her escape. The Awakener came to a stop, watching the surgebinder warily. "You know, on Nalthis you would worship me as a God," she said, as the other surgebinder ran into the clearing behind her. The flyer stood, observing her, a blue creature sitting on his shoulder. He had the flowing armour that some of them wore and the same three-minute-to-dusk violet glow as his partner. "We stopped worshipping ones like you a long time ago." The armour concealed his face, but when he spoke his voice gave him away as something not human. "We have claimed this world. Why do you trespass?" "Would you believe I was invited," the Awakener said with a smile. "We would not," the other surgebinder said, "You-" He stopped as he heard the sound of snapping trees coming towards them like a wave. Suddenly three large shining metal creatures broke into the clearing. "Too bad," she said. The surgebinders summoned their blades and attacked the Lifeless. The blades bounced off their silvery metal bodies, clearly surprising the surgebinders. Before they could react the lifeless grabbed the surgebinders and began pummeling them with their metal fists. "That could have been black," the Awakener said as she ran into the jungle.
  24. It's tenuous, but we have this Autonomy may not have been involved but I don't see why Odium would attack two shards alone if it is such a risk. And who is the we he refers to?
  25. Hmm, maybe not. I thought it was in the text but maybe I misremembered that.
