  1. I don't have the book so I couldn't read through this section but I checked tors reread of RoW and I could see this passage two ways. 1. Taln is crazy-crazy. When he sees Shallan lightweave it doesn't make him lucid as we've seen the heralds do after a radiant swears an oath. But he does have the cognizance to think 'its a radiant, I need to do something.' 2. Shallan speaks a truth a truth to fix her bond with Testament. It's not like swearing a new truth so it doesn't have the same effect on Taln. Like I said, I don't have the book so I can't go through the text to see if she might have spoke a truth so don't tear me apart.
  2. I wonder what that other thing would be. Its not the surgebinders half of the bond because spren can break bonds with radiants if they want to. Maybe you would need to remove the sprens sapience? That would be pretty evil.
  3. Great work compiling all of this. I think we've all been wondering 'what's ulims deal?' He is definitely from another world, which is why he looks human but his eyes look strange. I think as spren go he is fairly normal in appearance and movement. I believe Syls dress seems to blow in the wind and his movement reminds me of wyndle. He's probably a corrupted spren though, which is why he is red. I think we will find that he was from Ashyn although that spike thing does make me wonder if he's connected to Ruin. And he is such a weasel.
  4. I don't know what you're trying to say. But magic sword beats rock.
  5. So Frost must have the other form of immortality then. The kind that is granted by a large well of investiture. Which makes this all the more confusing
  6. I agree with @Leuthie. I doubt that we will see any spren created by kaladin. There are very few povs where people are surprised by an unusual spren and usually people around them are like, "Oh those things? They're everywhere, like cremlings during the riddens they are." But it is odd that there are some types of spren we would expect to see that are suspiciously absent. Perhaps that's what some of the unmade are, particularly the mindless ones.
  7. I'm not sure about the mechanics of it but based on his weird eye thing I think it comes from Odium the same as the fused powers. So it's likely not due to a breakdown of bonds but just Odium influencing and powering Kaladin, trying to break him as he and Moash planned.
  8. Yes, I think Odium was fueling a similar kind of power to the fused. I'm not sure what you would call it exactly. I'm surprised we haven't seen determination spren before. I actually checked the coppermind because I was sure it should be a thing.
  9. Fair enough. I mean immortal in the ageless sense.
  10. If its any consolation @teknopatheticis probably wrong.
  11. Good point. This could be Odium fueling Kaladin. In the video I mentioned they also talk about what the fused do and this feels a bit like that.
  12. That's right, I forgot she mentioned that. "Master Thaidakar? The Silverlight is approaching." "Great. It's been too long since I punched a God."
  13. Sorry for the double post I couldn't add anything when I tried to edit. That's entirely possible. So it's a battle in the cognitive realm. I think they must. I feel like they could be summoned like shardblades. If not they would be nearly defenseless fighting hand to hand.
  14. Good point. I forgot the fused don't have bodies. So what is the threat to the heralds. Certainly Odium could be haunting them as he does Kaladin but I feel like there needs to be more. It could be the thunderclasts.
  15. (^Honorless- incognito Brandon account looking for ideas) The problem with Braize is Odium is there. Plus it's implied that it is outside the habitable zone. I'm not so sure about this. It could just be devoid of life. But either way it seems problematic for the narrative to be that Humans live separate from the singers. It has kind of a segregation vibe to it.
  16. I can appreciate how much work went into this post, and also how much went into the discussion that follows. I have a few issues with some of your assumptions. Most have already been discussed, but one point which came up in the latest shardcast is the nature of surgebinding. I recommend you check out the Video. In the video they go deep into what surges are. The summarized version is surges are the natural laws of the universe. Honor bound particular surges, limiting what someone could do with the surges and how they could access those surges. The important takeaway is that all magic in the cosmere makes use of surges. Surgebinding is what was done on Roshar to limit the use of surges and so that is the only reason it is unique to Honor and Cultivation. If Honor is the power of bonds then no dawnshards are needed.
  17. Oh yeah it could be something like that!
  18. That was my first thought but I wasn't sure what that could be.
  19. So we know Odium is invested on Braize. The Heralds and Fused go to Braize between desolations. And, we know there are Void spren as well. Raboniel tells Navani, So what do you think happens on braize? To me it sounds like Damnation on Mars. The Heralds endlessly pursued by the Fused across a dusty, barren expanse of rock. They never tire, and they heal from every injury. But their pursuers can never be killed either, and there are a lot of them. So it's just a never ending battle until one of the Heralds gives in and returns to Roshar condemning the world to another Desolation.
  20. I haven't read Brandon's unpublished stuff. Are Dragons immortal in the cosmere? I would have assumed not.
  21. That actually seems counter intuitive because people are generally awake through the day so if shadesmar were being affected by human perception it should be brighter. So would Taldains lack of day/night cycles be represented in shadesmar?
  22. As others have said it was Dalinar swearing the oath that gave them that lucidity.
  23. ...is in space. I was over in the RoW meme thread and I saw a post from @Child of Hodor which gave me this idea. I believe me know that at least one of the shards is not invested on a planet. What if it's Invention? And here's the twist, what if this is where Silverlight is located? We don't have any information so it's all just speculation. But there must be some reason Silverlight is located where it is. And i like the idea that the home to a Cognitive Realm University is located where Invention has manifest. Edit: I forgot about the survival shard. It likely Wisdom or something along those lines. This definitely fits.
