  1. Its not just on Taldain I think. Taking it from memory here since I dont got my books, but I seem to recall terris was on average darker skinned, and before Rashek altered the world, terris was the most northern part, wich should mean less uv. They should have been the palest if you look at it like that.
  2. Well, on Sel Odium killed 2 shards, and as an effect its difficult to use shadesmar. On Threnody Ambition got whacked(even if he managed to get away to have his final end elsewhere), could there be a block of some sort? (very)Loosely simular to the Hoed in Elantris, the shades could perhaps be cognitive shadows that dont quite get all the way into the other realm causing a bunch of different roblems, including being partly cut off from their self. And ofcourse, also causing them to be visible(and leathal) in the physical.
  3. I dont see them proving it. He will need to confess for there to be consequences. Noone saw it. Yes, its against the law, but noone saw it. Most would propably just think Sadeas was an idiot for going alone among enemies. And even if they figured out it was Adolin, a simple "Sadeas charged me from the dark to get revenge at Dalinar for winning in politics" would propably do it. The one who might be disapointed would be Dalinar, many of the other highprinces would likely be more impressed then anything else.
  4. Not really, since that would leave " He was born as one. It is a race. " completely outside any meaning. Yes, being functionally immortal isnt a race, but there is nothing else it can mean. There is no race at all mentioned. Most likley, Brandon was speaking carefully, and was thinking dragon but didnt want to say it. This, he said "it is a race" despite not having mentioned a race. As said, there just isnt anything else it could mean. For it not being a racial thing that frost does not age, Brandon would haveto have had a sudden and shortlived bout of dementia and just sprouted "He was born as one it is a race" for no reason at all. *edit The letter part is odd and dont quite fit. It may well be that he is now functionally safe from being killed aswell, not just from dying of old age.
  5. They need to be in the everstorm dont they? Lock the parshmen in somewhere during everstorms and they should not turn? Given that the parshendi broke free at one point, it should also be possible to stay free from it somehow, but how is hard to say. It should be harder for voidsprens to take parshendi(who already got a spren with their forms) then parshmen. It was impossible for Eshonai to resist, but that might be because she had already started the process.
  6. Using the word mandate would to me indicate someone(or something) else handing it to the shard, while intent would more indicate that it is the shards own will(own intent) that controls its actions. I dont really think there is something else that gives a mandate to the shards. Its all their own intents. Then again, anyone can call things what they wish. Just risks confusion:)
  7. He´s always been a scholar, so he would be curious. Why he stayed on Roshar is actually rather easy to figure. Easy invetiture. On Nalthis he need to eat a breath every week, and they are hard to get. On roshar, just a gem and some stormlight, wich is easy to renew.
  8. Marsh owned a shop of some sort after he left the rebellion and before Kelsier came back, I was certain it involved some sort of creation, but now I cant find where I read it so it might be wrong:p
  9. He might, he went onto Scadrial when noone else dared through the shardpool, and he travels to sel despite it being difficult. We dont really know how efficently shards would be in blocking a planet. Hoid is likely quite skilled at not being noticed by shards(He said something about how Odium would kill him if he found him when he was on Roshar) also, we dont know exactely when Autonomy started feeling isolationistic. I assume it was open when Khriss left. That said, I dont think thats it, since the sand would be white when filled with investiture, and black when without, Hoid would need to spend investiture, likely breaths, to do it. Seems unlikely he would waste it like that.
  10. Frost being the recipient is confirmed through a series of answers;). Not sure if there is a direct confirmation aswell. First answer states that frost is the oldest we´we met. Second oldest is hoid. Second answer sais that the letter is written by hoid to someone older then he (questions/answers taken from here http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kwt='frost' )
  11. Besides, Bavadin is blocking Khriss(and everyone else) from going home to Taldain, and khriss is a member of the 17:th shard.
  12. You mean ambition might be ambitious? Looking at that, who else might be high on the list? Well, right now with Harmony having two shards I supposed Odium is somewhat concerned(I think I read some wob on that but cant find now?), but the intents of Harmony is unlikely to concern him if it wasent backed by 1/8 of Adonalsium instead of 1/16 We dont really know of any shard intents that are likely to be agressive or wanting to take control other then him do we? It would be possibly autonomy but they seem to get along based on what hints we have?
  13. Maybe, but size would seem to indicate that. wierd to use several different ways to convey the same thing. Way more boring from a forum pov too *edit One wonders where this is supposed to be seen from. Almost haveto be from Yolen? Or from Silverlight? Haveto be an origin point that sees theese constelations when looking on the sky?
  14. Alot of stars we know to have shards got "radiance lines" Dont seem to fit 100% but close, and didnt ambition die on one of the stars that lack shard but got those lines? Might be something simular on the other. Or maybe just mean there is alot of investiture, or perhaps mean that there is an active perpendiculary? (Do we know if there is one on Threnody?)
  15. Its low status to be a drab thou. Only the poorest or possibly the most fanatical believers will give breath away. The vast majority of that is likely pulled from the slums of the city itself. And the population there is limited In addition, not all goes to the god king. There are alot of other awakeners, and they assumedly die quite often dies without giving their breath away. And the returned together eat a large number of breaths, around 1000 or so every year(numbers of returned differ from year to year). As for the topic: Seems clear from the WOB that is is relatively easy to use stormlight instead of breath for fuel, eitehr for nightblood or for returned weekly breath. Converting stormlight to and from breath on the other hand, is either impossible, or(more likely) hard enough that noone have figured it out yet. And had they figured it out, they would have used it, breaths is way more convinient to store then stormlight. And there is likely the problem with using it for awakening, if Vasher tried, I think he might have been able to awaken something if he put a gemstone in it to store the stormlight. Otherwise, it likely leak right out, making it not work. On the other hand, he is a researcher, if it was that easy, he should figured it out so maybe not.
  16. The synod was killed yes, but that was just most adult/practicing feruchemists. Simular to how Rashed killed all when he took the well. Many from the surviving terris should have the genes the same as then, so new ones should be born just even rarer. Do we know if ferrings existed before? We didnt really see many terrismen, and in the final empire being a ferring is not something you would talk about if you valued being, well, alive. I would think there is likely some hidden away, but not many. And if there is none, then the potential for one to be born is there, even if is even rarer. Wouldent be surprised if some among their researchers are full feruchemists.
  17. He pretty much does it to Vin in the end of Final empire, to a lesser degree. Propably just regular push there thou. "pushing the metals in her stomach and in her body, threatening to chrush her back against the pillar" But its really unimportant. The speed is the killer, he never bothered to use that much, to much Ennui I guess.
  18. Suggestion would be to reread bands of mourning. Look at what Marasi does with speed before she starts to run out. The lord ruler would not run out if hes prepared(and what Marasi used would really be enough) Also, there is metal in peoples blood. boost your pushing/pulling enough, and you can push/pull on that. It would not help that you didnt wear metal, he would just use your blood, so if he for some reason couldent reach someone, he could just pull them down. Or he could pull on one arm and push on the other, tearing them apart. Dont think of regular allomancy when thinking about TLR, he could boost pushing/pulling the same way he did with him emotional allomancy in the books. The lord ruler is just.. cheating. If he took a fight seriously, there just is noone we have seen so far who could handle him, (with the possible exception of hoid, who propably couldent fight back anyway). Feruchemy is one of the nastiest fighting magics already if you have attributes stored. The only weaknesses really is lack of flight and that you can run out of stored attributes, and TLR´s allomancy and compunding removes those. Sufficent speed is just unbeatable.
  19. I dont recall where it was from, but there was a short interlude somewhere with a young Waxilium (who wasent very good at aiming), wasent there? He had already snapped at that point, so shouldent the aim be there already if that is the effect? And Brandon saying "having worked under the premise" isnt really the same as "He said that the mechanics don't allow to a Powerful being to have this" It may be my english messing with me(since its not my first language), but premise means something akin to "working assumption" doesent it? It sounds like something he havent really made up his mind about 100%
  20. Possible. Frankly, the main thing that makes me doubt it is that Brandon dont tend to do the samething in many books, that he should copy a plot element from Elantris in Stormlght archive, even f its a behind the scene plot thing, seems... doubtful to me. But yes, it sounds resonable. It would give a reason for how elantrians are picked, wich I ahve been wondered about, and it would make sence to have it done simular to how the stormfather picks who gets to see the visions. I always thought Wyrn was a splinter of some sort, or the beta version of the dakhor monks but with focus on prophetic things rather then phsyical like most monks.
  21. Does the body still use energy at a normal speed? if so, then slowing to much means not enough oxygen gets out into the body, as the heartbeat is slowed, wich would lead to braindamage sooner rather then later. Still, seems unlikey. More likely, Sazed is busy. He can store health while still working. He can store sight while wearing spectacles. He cant really do anything to offset the slow speed.
  22. Drabs live without. Or mostly without, wich put it in doubt for me;) (been not that active here for some time, didnt even consider searching on coppermind, I was reading through threads looking for it, oh well ):/
  23. Did we ever get a clear answer on if nightblood would kill all of its wielders when they run out of fuel(breaths/stormlight or wichever), or if that was just cause it would eat Vashers divine breath when there wasent anything else left that it would kill him, and that others would just end up a bring a drab if using it to long?
  24. The populationmodel is incorrect Humanity originated on Yolen, so at 1000 AD humans had likely been around for many times longer on earth then people on Nalthis when warbreaker happened. Besides, we dont know the size of the landmasses, how much is good to live on etc. Population on earth exploded when farming began. We got no idea when that happened on Nalthis Also, have we heard if people elsewhere on Nalthis have Breaths? It may be local like the Reod.
  25. The reason why you can only store like, 75% of some things are that you die if you go lower. store all your srength, and your heart wont beat. Store all your health = die. Weight thou, store all of it and it dont matter healthwise. So sure, if your naked and your metalmind weight less than the air you replace, then youll float. Makes perfect sense. As to exactely how it works and if its gravity or mass etc, there was a giant thread on that somewhere, thou I cant be bothered to find it. It explained it fairly well if I remember right.
